They will close on days when they should be open with no explanation on the door and no closed sign up. I drive by, park, and then don't understand why they are closed, like today, Saturday. IF you call ahead, they don't say they will be closed. Otherwise, they have great things, and money goes to hospice. Whoever displays merchandise does a fantastic job. Ms Faust does not do much to up keep this place. Dusty, items don't rotate and items are there for a long time. The past manager was far superior,windows displays were fabulous. Maybe Ms Faust knows someone because she does not do much and tells little white lies about pricing. I know it helps Collabria but that should not mean a person cannot do an excellent job read more

Since they are a non profit I cannot give them less than 5 stars, but truly the quality of the donations reflects the affluence of the surrounding area. Thats great for us bargain shoppers, well cared for art, furniture, and clothing for a fraction of its original retail. Additionally shopping 2nd hand has the added bonus of finding one of a kind pieces. The staff and the displays are welcoming and clean. I give it a 2nd hand recommend. read more

Very nice second hand store that benefits a good cause (hospice). It is a clean well organized shop. There were many things I found interesting but everything was higher priced than I am willing to pay second hand. They had a matching set of darling French looking chairs that were nearly 1,000 dollars. A nice looking set of chine (10 pieces) for $385 and a nice figurine for $85. There was a $1.00 table out front that I did purchase an antique small plate and a piece of fabric with a map on it. The staff was very nice so I will go again when I am in the area. read more

It's a very clean, bright and airy place, despite the fact they deal with very serious issues like chronic illness and death. They had some amazing Japanese dolls, and their cookbook section is impressive, with offerings like Wolfgang Puck&the Moosewood cookbook. If they were closer, I'd be donating to them, and if I weren't moving, I would've bought a stack of cookbooks! The women who run it are very cheerful, compassionate and friendly. They even informed me that Thrifty Manor, St. Helena Catholic Church's thrift shop, had closed. They receive high quality donations, and are all about a good cause. I love hunting down treasures in thrift stores and Hospice shops are generally high on my list. La Boheme is the perfect addition to Main Street, at the north end of town (in the former Pearl location). The person working there was super friendly and they had some very nice things. This place rocks my socks off. Higher price point than your average thrift/consignment shop but the items they have here are carefully selected (no junk here!) and are all great quality. I have yet to go in and come out empty handed. On my latest trip I hauled away two down pillow cases with adorable new linen covers $20, a matching linen side pillow case $4, some mustard yellow decorator fabric that I'm going to refurbish into a pillow for my dog $4, and a vintage burlap-linen dressform $80. Like I said, not cheap, but great finds that are priced at a fair value and well below the cost to buy new in a store. read more

Great stuff at great prices. Here's what I bought: an antique table, two handmade lavender sachets which were made from beautiful vintage handkerchiefs and buttons, two small blue glass bottles, and a lightly used TOD'S satchel which cost $100 but the new ones are over $1,000. The only problem with the store is that if you see something you like but decide to think it over, it will be gone when you return the next day. Merchandise turnover is very fast. The store has an outstanding manager (Kelly) and a good group of enthusiastic, friendly volunteers. It is the best addition to St. Helena's Main Street in the past 25 years. read more

This store is a must stop when you are in St. Helena. Lots of one-of-a-kind items (if you see something you love , better buy it because the turnover of merchandise is quick.) Not a thrift shop per se, no tupperware or tube socks here just quality unusual items...sort of like a great flea market for finding treasures. Visiting from Austria/Europe. I have been coming to St.Helena for many years. Best Addition to Main Street ever. Congratulations! Not only a well stocked and professionally decorated store plus great value for reasonable prices. What I find most important: this store catches some of St.Helena's authentic atmosphere and energy as all the merchandise is donated by locals. This store has a soul. In times when tourism and weekendhomers turn precious small towns like this into luxurious shopping and gourmet paradises and winetasting shops take over local business favorites, it is even more important to keep up the spirit of authenticity and belonging. La Bohème contributes to that spirit, in a very enjoyable way. So, if you are visiting from out of town, looking for the 'real' St.Helena thing, la Bohème is the place to go. What a great one-of-a-kind boutique! Amazing treasures, great experience, and the best prices in the Napa Valley. I bought some yard art, beautiful rooster serving platters, and a spectacular mosaic vase created by a local artist. It's a great addition to Main St. shopping in St. Helena. I will definitely go back for more. And the best thing is that is supports a great local organization, Napa Valley Hospice & Adult Day Services. read more
