Food was ok. Ordered quesadillas w/ guacamole. The menu said (3), but it was a mound of guacamole with tortilla chips chips sticking out of it. That's not 3 quesadillas. The bill was 240. Gave 300 on the tray and waited for change....and waited and waited. I asked the cashier and he seemed confused. The nastiest place ever, I do not recommend this place, flavor is nasty, Shrimp soup has small shrimp like the cup of noodles. They use sandwich cheese for enchiladas. The food is amazing hear that Chile quiles are amazing!!! The side dish mashed potatoes are put of control their chilie has so much flavor!!! The table bred is so soft. Just a word of advise.... DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! The food is awful, we ordered pechuga rellena, caldo de camarón, tacos de mariscos, enchiladas suizas, La cucaracha, la pechuga de pollo has this non dairy cheese sauce that looked and tasted nasty like the cheap imitation velveeta cheese sauce, the enchilada had a melted slice of American cheese on top of it, the shrimp soup has these tiny shrimp kinda like the ones in instant soups, the tortilla for the tacos was very dry and the toppings weren't even matched for taste. The only "decent" plate was the cucaracha and that's because it was covered with what it seemed to be melted real cheese. read more

I was feeling overwhelmed with all the restaurants in the area, but fortunately for me, I picked the right one. First of all, the service was great. My waiter took my order right away and brought some bread with jam. A special they were having was Chile en Nogada. I ordered it and it was huge and Delicious. The place is affordable and in the corner of Plaza la Union. They also serve breakfast and though I didn't have it, from what I saw, they were Delicious as well. I ate enchiladas mineras every day I stayed in Guanajuato, and this day wasn't any different. The table bread and salsas were delicious, which I can't say for the rest of the places we ate... bread was always hard. I can honestly say these were the best enchiladas that I ate, even better than the infamous Dona Lupe's! Service was excellent and it was a very fancy place for not a very expensive price! The star rating seems accurate about 3.5 to 4 stars. It has an old feel to it, it seems like a mom and pop shop. The waitress was attentive and very, but she was very forgetful. She forgot folks, and when we asked for tortilla and orange juice we have to remind her to bring them to us. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time. She also forgot some pancakes that were ordered. The food was ok, I ordered some green chilaquilles but they were a little too luke warm/cold for my liking; but regardless tasted good. read more

Today was our second visit this trip. Yesterday tacos that were very good and today a pasta dish. Tacos were definitely better but the pasta was good and a needed change. The atmosphere is very pleasant and it is right along the Jardin. read more

My husband and I were searching around the jardin for a place to grab some dessert and a couple drinks. When we saw they had crepas de cajeta on the menu, we wasted no time grabbing a table. We wandered in around 9PM on Halloween night and the place just got busier and busier as the evening went on. I (obviously) ordered the crepes and a mojito while my husband stuck with beer and tequila. They gave us ample time to work on our drinks and enjoy a conversation before bringing out the crepes. The crepes were FANTASTIC. Rich and warm. The service was great and our waiter was very helpful in recommending the best place to pick up some authentic Guanajuato cajeta to bring home with us. He also recommended the best place to grab another of GTO's trademark dishes in Plaza Los Angeles (I can't remember the name, but it's chicharron, boiled eggs, avocado, and red salsa on a bollio). We left around 11PM because there was a line of people waiting for a table and we felt bad keeping one only for drinks. Definitely a hot spot on a busy evening in Guanajuato. read more

Waking around the city we decided to try La Botellita. I'm glad we did. I had the best cut of meat, ever. It was called arrachera. Arrachera is similar to skirt steak but with 10 times the flavor and it melts in your mouth. Almost impossible to get in the US. The guacamole was also one of the best . I went here around 3 times during our trip. For the first two times, when I only ordered appetizers and breakfast, it was reasonably good. However, the last time I went there, I ordered carne asada, and it was horrible. Comparing it to all the Mexican restaurants I've visited in the U.S. and Mexico, I would say that this gets the "worst carne asada" award. Absolutely do not recommend La Bohemia. The wait for our food was very long and we had four different waiters throughout the dinner. After this very long wait we were told that they were out of sopes. When they did bring out the food, the portions were tiny and everything was either bland or over salted. We had to remind the waiters literally five different times to bring out one of the dishes. At the end of the dinner, the sopes they did not have were still on our receipt - the only reason we noticed was because we didn't trust the staff after the horrible service and sure enough, they tried to charge us for something we didn't get. read more

Really great little place that treated me well on a Sunday night. Location off the Jardín de Union means some live music comes wafting in, but it's not too intrusive. I passed by this place in several occasions - the music and the ambiance was appealing. Yesterday I decided to go in - the hostess mentioned a 2x1 special on domestic drinks. The food was great, the beer was cold, music was good - bottom line we had a good time but at the time the check came... everything went wrong because of the "tiny letters in the 2x1 special" since the domestic beer was not included in the special which wouldn't had been a problem if mentioned up front. I told my waitress whom we double checked the so called special with and "changed her mind because a confusion" she by mistake again charged me a 15% tip without notice even after the discussion. This place is pretty decent. The food is good and the service is average. I've been there twice and haven't been disappointed nor impressed. The pricing is decent, not at all pricey given the location. The consomé de pollo is good if you're in the mood for homemade soup. read more

We were very happy & will return if we visit again. We ate twice during our trip, both times were great.
