So I've been here a total of 2 times. And they'll probably be sick of me because I plan to go more. We visit key biscayne often enough for this to be part of our morning routine! On our first visit, they were practically out of their pastries at 11am on a SUNDAY. So we only had their coffee. I was blown away on how good it was. They really know what they're doing. Service was a bit off putting. I was standing at the register and the workers were talking amongst themselves non chalantly. Their coffee though merited enough for a second visit. This time they were actively baking and bringing out pastries. We enjoyed their coffee and had some pastries. This time a lady took my order and she was super friendly. Croissant: perfect. Flaky. Soft. Almond chocolate croissant: my bf had this one. It had chocolate and some kind of almond filling inside. He loved it! I'm pretty vanilla so I thought it was okay. Unfortunately, I was unimpressed with the food here. High prices, even for the Key, and I didn't feel the quality or taste justified it. The key west omelette didn't have the ingredients incorporated within the eggs, they were just placed inside the folded eggs so the flavors didn't really meld together. It was a good portion. The hollandaise on the Benedict was good, but one of the eggs wasn't runny and it was overcooked. The potatoes were soft. Pretty unimpressive and not something I would recommend. Service was great tho. Food came out fast on a weekday morning around 8am. There was a constant flow of patrons until around 10, then it got really busy and there was a line forming outside. It nice and clean inside. There is 1 outlet if you need to charge up or want to sit in and woke. Customers in Buenos Aires, or Bogota or Tegucigalpa want all the international foods that we in the United States want. And they also want European and American foods we take for granted. The best neighborhoods have first rate bakeries and an even higher ratio of international recipe goodies. All of this carries over to Miami. So there are plenty of Spanish speaking bakers with ancestors from South of the Border who can produce absolutely amazing baked goods with recipes from anywhere in the world. * * * That said - from what I can tell, La Boulangerie Boul'Mich is a French-Latin American fusion with both French and South of the Border personnel. They have been successful enough to start expanding into a small chain with branches ranging from Del Ray Beach to Pinecrest. They offer a variety of breakfasts, lunches, hot and cold beverages and baked goods. Superficially, Boul'Mich could be located anywhere in the United States. Very little of their menu is particularly Latin. The only South American touch is that they have more empanadas than do other bakeries. But there are plenty of Anglo bakeries offering empanadas in my hometown of Austin, Texas. (The empanadas in those Anglo bakeries aren't very good.) At Boul'Mich, the breakfasts and beverages are nice enough. The waitstaff are utter charmers. They are the warmest, most gracious, generous hosts you could ask for. The baked goods are OH MY GOD CLOSE YOUR EYES AND GO TO HEAVEN. I had their brioche and an elephant ear. Their version of a brioche is a simple round roll rather than a loaf or the more muffin-y looking things you see in French patisseries. BUT THE TASTE! Both the brioche and the elephant ear were characterized by the pure simple taste of unsalted butter. Lighter than the butter in a Scotch shortbread - And the lightness is totally part of the charm. These don't give you the urge to stuff your face, The way a bag of Milano cookies begs you to finish the whole bag right now. Came on a weekday and was surprised that there was a bit of a line, had to wait around 10-15 minutes for a table of 4 which is not too bad. They have both indoor and outdoor seating which is nice. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros and I'm not quite sure what this dish normally is but I didn't expect them to give me just egg and sauce. Essentially there were 4 ingredients in this dish - eggs, homemade sauce, green bell peppers, and red bell peppers. It felt like you were just eating every ingredient on its own and it didn't really mix. I do have to say that it is pretty nice of them to give a free orange juice, which was very good, and coffee on the side but I was really unimpressed by the Huevos Rancheros. Not sure if I would come back, maybe for the pastries but not the actual food as it looked and tasted underwhelming. Especially their new special smash burger with wagyu and homemade jalapeño mayo sauce on a Brioche bun! The owner is very involved and even left my pregnant wife a sweet message in her cappuccino. Came here for breakfast while staying on Key Biscayne this past week! This is a nice little spot for breakfast and lunch. My mom got the pancakes that came dusted with powdered sugar and strawberries. They were very fluffy and tasted good! I got the Scrambled Eggs Black Forest which was scrambled eggs and ham (I didn't get cheese in mine), and it came with a baguette and some delicious jam. The eggs were very good, it seemed like the meal was made with three eggs as there was a big portion. I did wish that it came with some sort of potatoes or another side besides the baguette. I felt the dish was missing something. However, the jam for the baguette was very delicious and tasted like real fruit, not the processed jelly I'm used to. I also got a Nutella croissant which was very good and packed with Nutella. I actually didn't eat the middle of it because there was so much Nutella I was overwhelmed! Both of our breakfasts came with fresh orange juice which tasted like a real orange, not Tropicana! Also, we visited on a week day and found it to be very busy inside. My only complaint about this would be that we were sat very closely together in the middle of two other tables that were occupied so I had to squeeze up next to their table to get in and out of the booth which was awkward. We were also so close to them that I could hear their entire conversation. My suggestion would be to try to space the tables out more to make the experience more enjoyable. It gets very crowded on weekend mornings, mostly because of the cyclists, so it may take some time to get a table. This place is usually very busy & if you go on a weekend make it there early. If you're not from the area fyi- the parking situation can be chaotic but there is additional parking behind the building. I have gone here for breakfast & for lunch & never leave disappointed, it's pretty good food and it's consistent. The staff is so nice but sometimes, if it's too busy one can feel ignore but truly, they're just really busy -they always WANT to help. It's usually somewhat loud on their busy days with family chatter, laughs & children. If this is something you don't love, try visiting during the week on a less busy day. I have tried everything from the New York bagel to every sandwich on the menu. We have tried most of their fresh baked goods & their coffee and orange juice always hits the spot.
