We stopped in at La Cabaña by JUAN for an early dinner and had a decent overall experience. One thing I appreciated right away was that drinks come in generous pitchers -- great value if you're going with a group. Chips and salsa were brought to the table without having to ask, which is always a welcome touch. Service was attentive considering there was only one server handling the floor. Props to them for keeping things running smoothly. The food was middle-of-the-road -- not the best Mexican I've had, but certainly not the worst either. If you're looking for a solid, no-surprises meal, it'll do the job. The atmosphere is actually one of the highlights. It's a nice bar setting, well-lit, and wasn't overly loud during our early visit -- easy to hold a conversation, which isn't always a given at a bar. Now, the restrooms could use some attention. They're a bit dated and in need of updating. I did get a chuckle out of the handwashing requirement sign posted prominently on the wall -- right next to the one soap dispenser that happened to be completely empty. It makes you wonder how closely that policy is actually enforced. Overall, La Cabaña by JUAN is a fine spot for drinks and a casual bite. Just maybe bring your own hand sanitizer. read more

As recent transplants, we were looking for a good Mexican Restaurant. Another local restaurant was recommended but we stopped in La Cabaña, and we are glad we did. This will be our go to Mexican Restaurant. Loved the decor, the salsa and chips were amazing and our food was extremely delicious, even though they were not busy when we stopped in. I usually never write any reviews on places. I'm gonna make an exception today. We usually always do mobile orders and every time up until now the service has been pretty decent. Went in to get our order and was asked if I had a DoorDash. I told him I did because they always ask this and up until now I've always said yes. The manager, a bigger guy, was immediately rude. He asked if I was the driver or not. I told him yes as I always do. He then got defensive and asked to see that I had the order or he wasn't giving me the order at all. I've been completely nice up until this point. I went out to the car and got my wife's phone and brought it in so he could see that we did have the order. I also even told him the name of the order too. Anyways, I held the phone up to him so he could see that we had the order and he tells me to get the phone out of his face. I was just showing him that we had the order. He then brings the order out and mumbles something about me being a bad customer or something about me as a customer and walks off. I've never had an issue getting an order from this place. Never had the staff be rude to me in anyway. This encounter was completely uncalled for. We will definitely be taking our business somewhere else. While all of this is going on too, the cook in the back is scrolling his phone with his greasy gloves on that he uses to prepare food with. You carry your phone everywhere with you, it's probably the dirtiest thing we have on us. I'm very disappointed, because we've loved this place and defended it to so many people. We tried something different tonight - sometimes you just have to do something out of the ordinary. Pineapple Fajitas (shrimp, chicken, and steak) and the girls shared a large bowl of tortilla soup, which they said was filling and very tasty. I think the only thing they said they'd add is some rice because it just needed it. For the pineapple fajitas I was hoping they'd serve it with corn tortillas, but they were still good and, as always, the Juan's Dip was excellent. They bring their drinks in small pitchers so it's rare that we ever need refills and the margarita tonight seemed spot on. This is probably the best Mexican Style restaurant in the region and tonight they had live music by Jimmy Ray - a local celebrity of sorts. read more

Live music Fridays and Saturdays make it a great date night spot or bring the whole crew. Plenty of room for groups too. I honestly have never had a good experience here but we keep trying because a friend insisted. But I can't ignore the quality tonight. Tonight they were a little busy but nothing crazy. We had a party of maybe ten. Almost every single dish that was served to our table was cold. When we tried to speak to the owner about it he just looked us like he couldn't believe it. My family and I had a very nice experience at La Cabaña. The food was excellent. I had the Carne asada plate which was a great choice. The service was fast, polite, and very eager to serve. This is my SECOND review of La Cabaña by Juan. I was going to be driving through Scottsboro after going through Chattanooga. There are A LOT more options for Mexican food in Chattanooga, but I specifically waited until I got to Scottsboro so that I could eat here because my first experience was so good. And, I am very pleased to say that they did not disappoint. The food was great, the service was friendly, and this place gets the highest recommendation AGAIN. The only possible caveat to this restaurant is probably the location. It is not as close to the busiest part of Scottsboro, but it is worth the extra few minutes because of the overall experience and taste of the food. read more

Just passing through on a road trip and, being fans of Mexican food, we decided to stop by La Cabaña for dinner. The waitress was pretty dag nice and accommodating. You couldn't tell it was only her third day on the job. She kept our plates moving, our glasses full, and my daughter's ketchup flowing. I ordered the floutinis appetizer which, to my surprise, came with a queso dip. We don't get that where we're from and I really liked it. My oldest kid ordered a three taco plate when she wasn't hungry and two were gone by the end of dinner. My husband order (I can't remember) and he was happy with it. Now here's the kicker. My ketchup loving kid decided to try a chicken sandwich with cheese and ended up not liking it. Our bag to hold, I know. BUT the waitress must've said something and the owner/manager (?) and he offered her a plate of complimentary chicken chunks! It was not expected at all but greatly appreciated as she devoured it along with ample ketchup. All in all, it was a great experience! read more

The service was great. Very friendly staff that all seem very happy to have you. The food was great too. Our kids got the beef burritos and cleaned their plates! I got the fajitas poblanas which was amazing- chicken, mushrooms, poblano peppers and grilled vegetables topped with cheese. My husband got a steak fajita burrito. Even the chips were good - they top them with some kind of seasoning that was awesome. When we said we were too full for dessert they brought us some anyway. 10/10! read more

The food was fantastic. The service was great. Their salsa is amazing the way they present food is beautiful. I had ate here about three times and that will be the last time. I asked one of the waiters for some salsa and he went in the back and got me one salsa stopped at a table or some people had left and grabbed a container of salsa that the lid was on from that table. I could tell the salsa hadn't come out of the fridge because one was room temp and one was cold and I knew that was the one that had come from the table, seeing that there's no telling what else they get off the tables and reuse. I mean our chips could even been reused. It was a good restaurant, but you can't reuse stuff like that that's what causes food poisoning and people getting sick you catching diseases so I will not be going back. read more
