This place is really really good. We came here since it's close to us and we hadn't been there. The place was packed and it was a Tuesday. Good sign. The interior was very cute. We were quickly seated. I ordered the San Diego burrito, queso appetizer and the margarita flight. Be warned, they are 4 full sized margaritas. Make sure you have a driver! My husband got the quesadilla and liked it a lot. They give you salsa and beans with your chips, which was a different touch. We will be back. read more

Praise be! After our usual spot, Casa Blanca, spiraled out of control with prices we were looking for a new spot. Note: I got delivery, so I can't comment on service or atmosphere. Food was exceptional--my shrimp was well cooked, the guac exceptionally fresh, salsa tasty, chips crisp, even my tortillas were still warm. Bean dip was also amazing. Disappointed - Not the Authentic Skirt Steak as Advertised First time here, and I was excited to try the skirt steak listed on the menu -- the classic and authentic cut traditionally used for great fajitas. Unfortunately, what was served was clearly thin-sliced top round, a much cheaper cut that's about a third of the cost of real skirt steak. It was dry, chewy, and simply not what was advertised. I politely let them know, didn't eat the meat, and they never offered to replace it or make it right. I still paid the full price and even tipped the waitress -- not her fault -- but I won't be coming back. If you're going to charge for quality cuts, you need to serve them. read more

Hampton Cove doesn't really have a lot to offer in terms of dining options but this little out of the way restaurant is WAY better than the other one that's on the main drag of HC. Chips, salsa, guacamole and cheese dips are all very good but I'd love it if they would leave some HOT sauce bottles on the table. Still and all quite good! read more

We tried El Olmeca for lunch and arrived about 12:30. The restaurant was busy with a lunch crowd but we were seated quickly. The chips and salsa came as we spent time reviewing our lunch options. We ordered the Enchiladas Rancheras. We were served pretty quickly and our orders were freshly made, served nice and hot and looked appetizing. The enchiladas tasted great and the fresh lettuce, tomato and guacamole were the perfect accompaniment for this meal. I highly recommend El Olmeca and will be back to try more items from their menu. read more

The food was great and generously portioned. My grandson asks to go there just for their burgers. My youngest grandson always get a cheese quesadilla from the children's menu. It's nice and cheesy. Some places serve a tortilla with some cheese. This one is cheese that happens to be in a tortilla. I've had a couple of their chicken meals and they were great. Their beans are served whole and cooked with bacon and onions. They are so tasty. This is our new "go to" place when we come to see the grandsons. read more

Beware what you order at this place, the menu is not what it seems. What they claim is skirt steak on the menu is actually top round - tough, gray, rubbery, flavorless top round. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he shrugged and said the manager is at the cash register. When I paid my bill and mentioned it to the woman at the cash register, she said nothing. This is the WORSE Mexican food I have EVER had! When I asked my server for tortilla soup or black beans, I should have left when he said they did not have those items! The plate was hotter than the food! We had a cold beer & the beer was warmer than our food! My enchilada's & Tamala's taste like paper I've never had to wait for my favorite cuisine! it took forever to get our food! I will NEVER EVER return to this restaurant! Superb quality Mexican food. We have enjoyed all the entrees we have tried in our multiple visits since moving to the area only about 3 months ago. Quantity is typically more than we can eat. Side dishes compliment the entrees very well and are also very tasty. Service was excellent and tended to our needs quite well. They had plenty of staff to serve a very busy restaurant. The atmosphere was pleasant, bordering on festive. We felt like we were experiencing a bit of old Mexico in this place. It's no secret why this place is the best place to eat in Hampton Cove. Their food is delicious but their work ethic and also how they treat their customers are what really stands out. I've had the worst day and clicked the wrong chimichanga on my online order and they replaced it for free. Quiet, comfortable atmosphere. The decor is very unique and fun. But the food stole the show. I got the Piña el Olemeca. Which was a pineapple sliced in half and then hollowed out. Then they fill it with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, onions, pineapple chunks, and smother it in cheese. It also came with 3 tortillas and fixings. Holy cow. A lot of food for the money. Truthfully, I didn't find anything to lead me to rate this restaurant as outstanding other than the service. To me it was average Mexican. I wondered if my Chile relleno had been previously frozen and reheated as it was "watery." Beans and rice were beans and rice (if you know what I mean). The service gets the two stars. read more

You always get what you pay for here as the meals come in very good portions. I always order shredded chicken nachos with a side of Mexican rice--oh my goodness, it is DELICIOUS! Because of El Olmeca, I conquered my fear of eating avocados and guacamole! Their guacamole is very delicious and bursting with flavor! Their margaritas are amazing, too! Again, you get exactly what you pay for with size and if you get the $9.99 margarita...please give someone your keys for the night. Lol. It is a wonderful size of wonderfulness! First visit, did curbside pickup. Enchiladas were delicious as were the nachos. Even after being in the to-go containers, the food tasted good at home. The chicken was cooked well - not overdone, same with the steak in the nachos. Portion sizes were generous and eating here did not break the bank either. I am a transplant from Texas and have been on the search for some good 'ol Mexican food. There are some very well know restaurants that people have recommended but, I wasn't impressed. I have even tried some smaller "hole in the wall" places to no avail. Finally, after moving to OCR and not wanting to go in to town for dinner I tried El Olmeca. Not only is it super cute, the food hit the spot! They have a great selection of dishes that I grew up loving. The flavors are as authentic as you can get this far from the border. I had the Fajitas Limon. They were FANTASTIC! The service was awesome. I never had an empty drink and the salsa is better than my grandma makes. They also have a great Happy Hour and a bar with live music in back. I love this place, it is fast becoming my new "home away from home. Try it!! read more
