I have been here twice in just as many weeks. I have not been disappointed either time and most likely will come back when I am in town again next week!!! The restaurant is small and authentic to what I expect when visiting cities in Mexico. The food is fantastic with flavors that are as good to smell as the food is brought to the table as it is to eat. The smiles on the faces of both patrons and staff tell me this is a local favorite and great place to visit. On this visit, they had a local mariachi band play for the crowd with local patrons getting up and dancing with music. It made it fun and entertaining as we enjoyed a great meal. read more

The food is good if they get the order right. They have the woman who speaks poor English answer the phone for some reason. Anytime she takes my order. It's messed up. Like I say add rice to my burrito, For some reason her brain says oh add rice and take everything else out and she'll repeat back to you " just rice" and you have to say no I want rice in it with everything else. She'll say "oh so super burrito with rice" You have to give an explanation of everything you want in the damn thing. Say you get a super beef burrito, and say you want to add extra rice and no guacamole. She will say super beef burrito with just rice. Don't fucking say yes cause then you're just gonna get a fucking burrito with beef and rice. Every time I just want to yell at her and say did I say JUST RICE!?!? Or whatever I'm adding. The last time they got my order, right, was when this woman had the phone taken from her by the young gentleman that works there and he got my order, correct. I'm just gonna say this if you're gonna go order at one of the La Cabanita restaurants. Waste the extra gas and go to either the Hailey or Ketchum one. The inside of the place is bad ass, though if you are gonna go to this one. You'll have fun there in a big group just don't expect to get your order correct if you have her. I was business trips to ID from Seattle. My friend is vegetarian. So I was hoping to eat vegetarian meals at La Cabanita Mex. There is vegetarian menu and request to add fish & avocado. And I ordered today's special Carnitas pork. Wow~ huge portions both dishes and delicious! We came back to La Cabanita again next day. We ordered Vegetarian Brito & Arroz con Camarones Prawns sautéed in a unique sauce with mushrooms served over rice with melted cheese and flour tortillas and to go~ I forgot to take them pictures but so good taste, huge size, made us very happy ! Dined here last night 5.22.23 right around 5pm. The food was very average. Waitress was very slow, did not serve chips and salsa which was complimentary. Chairs were already on tables and they told us we had no reservation. Restaurant hours day till 9 so clearly they just wanted to leave. No apologies, terrible customer service. We've been to Cabañitap Mex several times. Food is always good, and as of late, service has been excellent. Lately, they've acquired a liquor license. I ordered a gin and tonic double with my meal. The meal was under $11; THE GIN AND TONIC WAS $18! I know that artisanal cocktails can be very expensive. This was a simple gin and tonic, nothing more. Won't be purchasing alcoholic drinks there again, and if we want to have a drink with dinner, it won't be at Cabañita Mex. read more

We were traveling through the area and stopped in to try this Mexican restaurant in Hailey on a Tuesday at dinner time. Every one of the staff was friendly, there were a LOT of servers attending tables, not just waiters but people checking on your drinks and salsa & chips. Very prompt and attentive service. Like all good Mexican restaurants, the chips and salsa were served first including a small plate of refried beans to dip into. The chips were whole fried corn tortillas that you must break apart for dipping. The salsa was very flavorful and had a nice bite to it and the beans were creamy with a bit of a smoky taste. My wife ordered the Camarones al Mojo, which was outstanding. The shrimp tasted fresh, was butterflied, and cooked just right with a light firm texture, not rubbery. The delicious sauce garlic butter sauce was flavored with hot pepper flakes, giving the dish just the right amount of kick. The rice was fluffy and delicious, but not heavily spiced. I ordered the Tacos Mexicanos, street corn tacos with carne asada meat, onions, and cilantro. Each taco was provided with its own lime slice and a verde sauce was provided that complimented the mixture perfectly. Pricing was reasonable, post-pandemic. I learned that there are restaurants up and down the road in Ketchum and Bellevue as well as in Meridian, which we will definitely check out. read more

We were in Bellevue for the solar eclipse and decided to come here for dinner. The wait for our food was long but it was well worth it. They were very busy with the majority of people there were in a large party. I shared the Cabanita Platter with my mom and we couldn't finish, it was so much. This came with rice, guacamole, steak, shrimp, and refried beans. My brother had the Carne Asada Burrito and ate the whole thing as he was very hungry. He said it was very good. Long time since a restaurant that I have gone to rates a five star and I would actually read it a little higher if I could. Seems to be the sister restaurant of a similarly-named place up the road in Ketchum. We were driving back to California after two weeks hiking in the Sawtooth mountains. Hoping to find someone besides us to cook us dinner. Using a common mapping service we searched for mexican. This was the top rated place, though it didn't seem to have a yelp presence yet. Great food (chicken con crema was fantastic, burrito was huge and delicious), and Dos XX beer on tap. Huge portions, decent prices, and a super-friendly staff. Going in we were sortof laughing at the idea of getting decent mexican in Idaho. But we learned an important lesson. In a strip mall with a couple of other mexican establishments. Nothing fancy about the place. Except the kitchen. If you're a Californian, here's a taste of home. If you're an Idahoan, you've got a legitimately great mexican place in your town.
