Busy little place with a lot of locals and a few travelers passing by on their way to somewhere. Best option on this desolate stretch of highway. Has a nice wood burning fireplace in the dining room for the cold days. Helpful and pleasant young lady taking our order at the counter. Asked for suggestions and they happened to be out of their famous curly fries on this day. Chicken strips were just ok. Seemed to be the frozen type with no real chunks of chicken. Regular fries were the same, nothing special frozen type. Family liked the burgers and the sweet potato fries were really good. Shakes are thick and made with real ice cream. read more

Stopped in Fairfield at the Wrangler and I'm not mad about it! There's a small sitting area inside and tables and chairs out front. We placed our order and the shakes came out first. We ordered chocolate, which was indeed very chocolatey, and raspberry, every bite had real raspberries in it. These shakes were the star thick and delicious, we fought over the last bites! We stopped by again and the food did not disappoint! They were busy during the lunch hour but we received our food quickly. The reason for the 4 stars: it would really be in the best interest of the business to remove the young blonde gal with pony tail and purple shirt from the register and any customer facing interactions. She's about as dull as they come and got our order wrong after we told her twice. She just wasn't listening. Couldn't even smile or greet us - opposite of friendly and our first experience here. I used to work at Moab's in Modesto, California and Wrangler Drive-In's menu was even more extensive and diverse than Moabs. There were 5 adults and two young children in our group, so our order was large and complicated. Seating was limited, but the customers were friendly and helped us out with a table outside. Food was delivered accurately and quickly and tasted amazing! Outside dining is my favorite, so we had an amazing experience and are recommending this stop to others. read more

Bacon burger came with cheese but yet didn't disclose that and I'm allergic to dairy . But were rushing us out the door. This place is the quintessential hole in the wall burger joint that serves up all the classics, burgers, patty melts, chicken strips, fries, shakes, etc... But for some reason, in my picky opinion, some are just better than others and this one is the better for me! The burger: juicy, cooked right and the meat was flavorful. The fries: cooked and seasoned just right. The service: fast and friendly. Note to those reading this review and are out this way to see the flowers at Camis Prairie: take the 14 mile drive to have lunch here. My only regret is I didn't get the shake. Google maps was telling me about a restaurant in Fairfield, but I found Wrangler Drive-In. I loved my visit. When I first came in I got to see the billboard covered in events going on in the area. I was expecially interested in the steam punk thing over in Idaho City, but did not have the time. For the service we have the same Idaho "what do you want" attitude. They were still approachable without any sass. The bathroom is interesting. I can't remember what holds the door shut and it was like walking through a labyrinth to get to it. It's down the hall past the kitchen. This isn't so hard considering that you need a map and a compass to find the bathroom at Cobby's in Boise. Wrangler has a super menu. It's so super that not everything fits onto it. So, be sure to look at the signs at the register. They have a few flavors for their shakes. Speaking of shakes they are VERY good. Ask for the malt. Yum! I was very happy with my burger and sweet potato fries. This place is very generous so come hungry! You probably will since you are more than likely traveling in the desert area. read more

In April 2011, I returned to the town of my youth to help my parents move from there to their new home in Oregon. Now in my childhood, I have fond memories of chocolate banana milkshakes and succulent, juicy cheeseburgers. Fast forward that twenty-five years. Literally nothing has changed. Everything is still the same great burgers, the same great shakes, and the same people working behind the same counter ringing up the same locals on the same cash register. The same video game machines from my childhood were still sitting there, as if untouched by time. On my visit to The Wrangler Drive-In in 2011, I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, a large French Fry, and of course the chocolate banana milkshake. The burger was very thick, the bacon was warm and cooked exactly how I prefer it, the bun was toasted to perfection, the lettuce was crisp and cool, the tomato was juicy, the onion was strongly flavored, but not too strong, and the burger sauce was the icing on the cake. It was served with a generous helping of crinkle cut french fries, lightly salted as I requested, and the shake was exactly as I remembered it. The entire experience reeked of the nostalgia of my teenage years, and the memories of hanging out with friends, and of a school dance which was held there came flooding back to me. And the icing on the cake was running into a girl whom I had actually gone to school with there. It was like I had driven there in a time traveling DeLorean and everything was just as it had been left. First of all, my husband and I live in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN, so we've ate at a few burger joints. (I also grew up in a small Minnesota town where I worked as a teenager at a drive-in and also at the local Dairy Queen.) I also travel for business so I have dined out in several cities including Seattle, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, etc. My husband and I were traveling from Idaho Falls to Boise while traveling on vacation so we had lunch here on Wednesday, 05/20/15. Some of the noteworthy items to say about this restaurant: 1. This is a very small burger joint with only 2-3 employees. 2. All of the food we ordered was prepared on the spot. The hamburgers were very good and the malts were high-quality ice cream and homemade. (We ordered the mediums and they were very big. I would order a small, personally.) If you order a burger, note that there is a very small upcharge to have tomato added to it. (Makes sense since not everyone likes tomatoes.) 3. You can see the cook while she was making the food 4. The food came out very fast. 5. I used the bathroom while we were there and had to walk past the kitchen to get to the bathrooms. The kitchen and women's bathroom was spotless; super clean. For being located in such as small town as Fairfield, we were very pleasantly surprised as to how good everything was at the Wrangler. Previously I would have given this favorite little stop of mine in on of my favorite Idaho town a five star. I have been coming to this place since I can remember. Good memories the first time I locked the keys in the car when I was five in front of the Wrangler. First burger with ham, the Wrangler. So when I came back to Fairfield for the weekend of course I had to stop and get a milk shake and tots! I was so sad. Now maybe my memory is failing me, but the fruit shakes no longer have fruit! WTF! Bad move Wrangler! The tots were good naturally. They also remodeled recently. The old decor is out there are new tables and no records on the wall. I thought they were a bit cheesy but it made the place. Also the jukebox is gone. There is now a coke machine to fill up your own coke. Good addition. Do not eat here. We were ignored from the second we walked through the door. When I finally caught the eye of a staff member the walked away as fast as possible. After a few minutes someone finally acknowledged us. Our child has an egg allergy so while ordering I asked about egg being present and was laughed at. We settled on chicken strips and 2 salads. The chicken was pink and raw in the middle and our salads tasted funny and had the romaine heart/stem (salad garbage) mixed in. The owner was rude and gross looking. I cannot express the amount of love I have for The Wrangler and Snowbunny Burgers! I grew up loving these joints! My grade school ordered school lunches from Snowbunny once a week. My first real job was behind their counter! I prepped and worked the grill at both locations as a teenager. After every sports practice I would walk down the street and treat myself to an EXTRA large caramel Rootbeer, YUM! This place has been a cornerstone for me since I was 8yrs old and I honestly cant say I have EVER had a burger, or burger joint experience, matched by the Wrangler or Snowbunny. There is nothing like it anywhere I have traveled and I make it a point to stop in at least once when I make it home to visit.
