Great service, kind people. We loved the street tacos- simple with handmade corn tortillas. Guac and sauces were delicious.

I would give it more than five stars if I could. People are absolutely wonderful and service is amazing. The food is FANTASTIC. I mean seriously some of the best Mexican I have ever had. the new owner is a liar!!!!! she told us that they would give us a refund for the food that we picked up because everything was made completely wrong. then when we got there she wanted the food back to give a refund. i am in extreme pain and didn't want to leave the house this the reason i had it picked up. went back showed them pictures that the food was wrong. everything we ordered was supposed to have sauce on it nothing did. the enchiladas were the worst thing ever. no sauce basically uncooked tortillas filled with bland flavorless chicken. nothing was good nothing, paid for chips and salsa and the salsa taste like just tomato water no flavor! this was after trying to order and the were out of 5 different things that we tried to order. please avoid this place! i have worked in restaurants and customer service most of my life and the way she treated us is not right and she obviously has no idea on how to run a restaurant! read more

I'm only in town once a year because my company's HQ is in Sun Valley, but needless to say, Lago Azul will now be a must-visit on every trip. I had the chicken tacos, and they were unlike any taco I've ever had. Sadly, I can't quite pinpoint what made them so incredible--the flavors just popped! The ambiance is simple, but don't let that fool you. The food more than makes up for it, and the staff were super friendly as well. This spot is officially on my list for future visits! read more

Food was terrible. Salty but otherwise flavorless and dry chewy pork chili verde. Greasy pupusas. We had asked for a couple of other entrees but told they were out yet it was only 6:30 pm and there were only two other tables of people when we were there. The server really was more interested in being on his phone hiding in the back and acted put out when we had to find him to ask for plates and napkins and utensils when the food did finally arrive. The poor cook also came out to clear tables. My husband and I were both sick that night. I'd really recommend you skip this place. read more

First time at Lago Azul. My brother had the 3 taco plate with carnitas. My sister-in-Law had the street tacos. My wife had the Chimichanga. I had the Chile Verde plate. All our food was excellent as was the staff. It's been quite a while since we have had great home style Mexican food. They have new regulars at their restaurant. Don't let the outside deter you from going inside. I have NEVER cried from a meal - this one I did. The inside is homey and the server made us feel like a part of the family - recommending his favorites and his mom's favorites. As we ate, we enjoyed the comfort and love in each bite. Delicious food with great portion sizes. Will be returning here for sure. Ordered the fiesta mexicana which had 2 tacos, 4 flautas, 1 chimichanga, 1 quesadilla, nachos and topped with crema. So delicious and great to have for 2 people and take home for later! Husband ordered menudo and loved it. Highly recommend ordering Fiesta Mexicana. Salsa is amazing as well. Having eaten here multiple times over the years, we were really looking forward to it. The food is good, but their customer service sucks now. We drove down the hill from Sun Valley on Thursday only to find out that they had closed early because they were out of food. I get that, but at least put up a sign that says so or answer the people who are knocking on your door instead of just looking at them and going back to whatever you're doing. (we could see other people eating in the restaurant.) On their website it shows they are open at 11 o'clock on Monday morning. We are here yet again, and there is nobody here. There is no sign to say when they will arrive, or if they even plan to open the restaurant today! Really disgusted with them right now. We had been looking forward to eating here all weekend long. This place was a disappointment. It had servers that were rude and looked annoyed at us as soon as we walked in. They gave us little to no supplies two cups of water and two napkins for four people. Horrible service, the tacos tasted okay, but they were small. They only accepted cash. When I went to pay for the meal, the lady told me the total verbally. Since the amount was higher than I expected, I asked for a receipt. Surprisingly, she forcefully added 20% gratuity on top of the total expense without my knowledge. I would have paid the tips twice if I did not request the receipt. I paid the money and left the place, I will never go back ever again. read more

Stopped for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Small storefront next to a tatoo shop. When we arrived we were the only ones there but by the time we left it was filling up. I'm certain you can add refried beans with either for a mixta! The curtido that accompanies it is as good as you'll get at any Salvadoran food cart at McArthur Park in Los Angeles. My goto order is a Carnitas plate. Has been for 30 years and probably 50+ Mexican restaurants across the West. Tonight's Carnitas were the BEST without exception of any I've ever experienced. Delightfully crispy outside, Rich flavors, and soft interior. Am just passing through heading back to California but this is my personal #1 restaurant for Carnitas. Wish I could stay longer to try more. My wife is a fish taco nut, and while skeptical about how they are prepared and presented, she was overwhelmed with great flavors and texture on the first bite.
