    Bacon sausage onion pidzz
    Todd P.

All in all, not a bad experience. If you're interested in a quaint Montreal experience, this isn't for you. It looks like every other upscale sports bar. But that was fine for us. Grab a basket of popcorn for starters. Then we had a couple beers and ordered a bacon, sausage and onion pizza (pidzz). It was pretty good. Service was good but the bartenders were running around like crazy.

Decent place to stop and grab a drink, whether in a smaller group or a large one. Cocktail prices were reasonable, and cocktails were good for what they were. They give you free popcorn, which was super buttery and salty - believe it or not, I felt like the popcorn was the highlight of our experience.

Molten lava chocolate dessert with hazelnuts @LaCage (Montreal)
    Justin C.

Just a couple of blocks off of St.Catherine's St and at the mouth of the entrance for Complexe Desjardins mall, La Cage is the hockey-themed sports bar you've been looking for. You're greeted by nice hosts where you can choose their outdoor patio or indoor table seating, and service was well staffed and our waiter was awesome cuz he genuinely cared that we were taken care of. We enjoyed the full rack of ribs for its value but the sauce was quite weak and meat a tad dry. The mash potato and Caesar sides hit the spot, the molten lava cake that comes with lots of hazelnuts is excellent. The Caesar drink was too salty. There isn't a bad seat in the house with so many screens in every angle. Go Oilers.

    Onion Petals

I was stopped for dinner a few weeks back while in town for business. The Cheddar Apple Autumn Salad was great, as were the Onion Petals. I'd never had onion petals before, and I liked them more than the traditional onion rings I often get at restaurants. I will certainly be back the next time I'm in town.

True sports bar with multiple wall-to-wall televisions, loud music, lively atmosphere. We made a reservation on their app. Good thing we did because they turned everyone else away who didn't have reservations. After the hostess checked our vaccine status and IDs, we were immediately seated and given free buttered popcorn. Even though they were packed, our order was taken quickly and our food arrived within 15 minutes. We ordered the salt & pepper chicken wings, fish tacos and shrimp/lobster tacos, salmon tartare, and the grilled chicken club. The wings, although small, tasted good. The tacos were also flavorful. The salmon tartare was underwhelming and lacking flavor. The chicken club had too much bread and too little chicken. The side of Caesar salad that I ordered with the sandwich had all the dressing on the top and it was impossible to mix it in the little bowl they put the salad in. The only thing that I thought was exceptional was their Mille-Feuille dessert. They didn't have an English menu available except online which I couldn't access, which was annoying. Overall, did not satisfy my expectations with respect to the taste of the food. However, if you're looking for a lively atmosphere and a sports bar environment, this is the place. I personally will not be returning. They are located inside the mall, but the restaurant is street accessible. Underground parking available for a fee.

Biggest screen to watch your favorite soccer team!

Great bar in the middle of the jazz festival grounds. Good food and lots of screens to watch Canadian soccer or your favorite sports. Nice patio too. Wings and nachos are especially good.

I found this place in a shopping mall next to my hotel. I was ready for a beer and this place had a sports bar vibe with TVs everywhere. I was offered a basket of free popcorn upon walking in. I was provided with a QR code to scan for the menu and received some assistance in receiving beer recommendations. I decided to order the buffalo chicken poutine that had breaded chicken pieces coated in buffalo sauce on top of fries with gravy and was topped with bleu cheese dressing. The portion size was big and those beers hit the spot. I received good service while eating here. Solid 4 stars!

Blitz burger juicy and not that big that you can't finish it
    Amber H.

I had no idea the burgers were that good here. The blitz burger which to me would be your typical American burger (cheese, bacon, onion, lettuce & tomato) is delicious and packed with flavour. It comes with fries or you can always swap it out for a poutine or onion ring. Now for the big reveal. If you don't know now you do :) Anytime you go in to the cage from now until October you can get 8 free wings with the purchase of 15$. I got salt and pepper wings and asked for blue cheese dipping sauce and boy oh boy were they ever on point. Crispy, hot and packed with salt and pepper. I love that they added a little lime to squeeze on top it really brought the flavours together. When the habs score more than 5 goals you get 8 wings as well but same thing you gotta spend 15$. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE APP DOWNLOADED BEFORE HAND. Sitting outside was great I really enjoyed the table and chairs they were large and comfy. Your view is saint Catherine but right across is places des arts so they're always something going on. I was happy with the service and the safety precautions they took to make sure everyone was safe and enjoying their meal.

We stopped at La Cage to watch the Panthers hockey game while we were in town and we had a great experience. It was like being back home at a local sports bar. The food was delicious. The place was super cool, it had a cool vibe. Our waitress was very helpful and make sure we were always looked after.

Seated on the edge of the underground city. Bar food and drinks. Full bar, local beer and cider. The Buffalo chicken poutine was amazing, totally change the side.

My legs are significantly shorter than theirs, so frankly I had been waiting for someone to acknowledge this. We stopped at Pub McLean's and grabbed a table on the big streetside patio across from Dorchester Square. It's a great place to sit outside, watch Montreal go by and contemplate important matters--such as where we were going next and whether anyone planned to feed me. Apparently, someone did. Almost as soon as we sat down, our waitress brought me a water bowl. Excellent start. Then she returned with PEPPERONI. Excuse me??? I have reviewed quite a few establishments on this trip, and I believe this is what the hospitality industry refers to as exceeding expectations. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad shared a pint and a cider while I settled in to watch the after-work crowd. The patio was lively without feeling chaotic, and there was plenty happening on the street to keep a professional people-watcher entertained. Mom and Dad thought we had stopped here for drinks. I now understand we stopped here for my pepperoni appointment. Dogba's verdict: 5 paws out of 5. Immediate water service: excellent Unsolicited pepperoni delivery: exceptional Human refreshments: apparently satisfactory People-watching: first-rate Short-legged traveler recovery station: approved ‍ Waitress understanding who the important customer was: 10/10 Would return. I believe the nice lady with the pepperoni is expecting me.

We were fortunate enough to have Alex as our server, and he truly elevated the entire experience. He was knowledgeable, personable, and did an excellent job walking us through the menu and offering recommendations and specials. After hearing his suggestions, I decided on the Snow Crab Cluster paired with a Sirloin, baked potato, and a side of whisky peppercorn sauce. It was a fantastic choice. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking, the crab was fresh and flavorful, and the whisky peppercorn sauce tied the steak together beautifully. The drinks were equally impressive, and the wine pours were generous enough that I definitely felt I was getting good value. What stood out most, however, was the service. Alex was attentive throughout the meal, ensuring everything arrived correctly and that our glasses never sat empty. Between the excellent food, delicious drinks, and outstanding hospitality, I couldn't have asked for a better place to spend the evening reconnecting with my friends. Dogs aren't allowed inside, which is completely understandable, but MVP has a nice side-street patio out front with several tables. And--most importantly--a television. Perfect. Mum and Dad explained that we wanted to watch the Chelsea match. Inside the bar, the game was playing on what appeared to be every television in the building. Outside? Not so much. The staff tried to get the match onto our TV. We waited. They tried again. We waited. At one point, instead of Chelsea vs. Arsenal, I was watching a religious sermon. I had questions. Eventually Mum and Dad gave up and put the match on their PHONE. So there I was, at a sports bar, watching one of the biggest football matches of the day on approximately six inches of screen while an actual television sat directly in front of us. Mum ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich with fries and Dad had the chicken tenders. A second waitress also came by later and brought me a water bowl, which I genuinely appreciated. And that's why I'm not giving MVP a terrible review. The patio itself is perfectly pleasant, dogs are welcome outside, we were able to eat and hang out, and the water was a nice touch. But if your primary reason for choosing a sports bar is to watch a particular game with your dog on the patio, I'd definitely recommend confirming that the patio TV can show it first. Because apparently: Chelsea inside. Sunday sermon outside. Dogba's verdict: 3 paws out of 5. The patio: Dog-friendly: Water service: eventually Food for the humans: Chelsea match on the patio TV: Chelsea match on Mum's phone: Unexpected spiritual guidance: extensive Would I return for a casual drink with Mum and Dad? Sure. Would I trust them with an important Chelsea match again? Dogba remembers.
