Decided to leave the "Hotel Zone" of #cancun to see where the locals hang out. We took the R2 bus heading towards #TheWalMart, lol. We walked around town, checked out a few stores. We went to have lunch at this place "La Casa De Los Abuelos", it was full of locals. The waiter who was very nice asked if we were lost, lol. Found this place by accident after searching and searching for another. Absolutely a gold mine find. Woundfully clean, beautiful inside, great, really great service. The food was very good, tasted good and professionally presented. The bakery was gorgeous, and more french and american looking bread stuffs than mexican. We left our waiter, Luis, a 200 peso tip, and he almost carried me to our car. Wonderful, professional, very tasty. We're spending 18 days here in Cancun. Absolutely awful service. Came for breakfast. Ignored. Drinks came once we were done eating. Food is mid. Came to give it another chance for dinner since someone recommended it. Again awful service. No greeting no smiles no checking up. Food was cold. Shrimp was burnt. Again food was tasteless. Way too many tables for waiters to attend to. We decided to get bread at the panadería and we waited ten minutes at the counter. Nobody attended to us. Then we asked where and they told us to pay up front. We went and there was 6 women doing nothing. And not once attended us or said they'd help as soon. Tried another location and exact same service. Shocking they have so many locations read more

After having been in Cancun almost a week, it was nice to find a place that had the pancake house feel like back home in the US. Prices are decent. We ordered breakfast although they do sell lunch and dinner platters as well. I highly recommend the chicano combination that came with a ham and cheese omelet, beans, two small pancakes and chilaquiles!! Yum yum yum! Only downfall was having to look for our waitress multiple times to ask for more coffee and cream. PS- they charge for coffee after the first two cups. A little odd, but worth it overall! read more

Terrible service today. Incredibly slow. Some food and drinks didn't come. Others came when everyone was finished. I don't know if they were short staffed but we felt ignored and forgotten. I went to this spot based on the previous Yelp reviews I read; amazing food! The Pozole was delicious and believe me when I say I am a Pozole snob! The cafe lechero is like nothing I've ever had; screw Starbucks!! And it's only $1 and change. A large bowl of Pozole is about $4. You cannot beat the prices at this place; don't get me started on the pan dulce and the fabulous deserts! Everything is fresh; everything is delicious. We ordered a large Pozole, 2 frappes (cookies and cream--delicuous), a cafe lechero, 2 pan Dulces, auntie omelet, 3 quesadillas to go, carne asada to go, 2 large pozoles to go, pollo pibil to go and a torts. $41 dollars!!! I love this place and thank my Mexican friends for taking me here shortly after they opened several years ago. Every year when I go to Cancun to visit, we always eat here several times. The food is delicious. Never had anything I didn't like, but then I LOVE Mexican food. They also have a bakery and we always get pastries to go. read more

One of the first places we tried in Cancun . It was recommended to us by one of the excursion hecklers down the street . If you're heading to the Wal-Mart it's not too far of a walk for this place . The service wasn't bad , the food was OK but the desserts are the main attraction here . They have a variety of baked goods and coffee for a higher than average price for the area . The food was fantastic. We had the soup mix to (with pork and chicken)-- my only regret is having to share it. It was full of locales and certainly off the beaten path of what most of cancun tourists do.
