This is the second time we've been here. Parking can sometimes be found in front. Service was friendly and professional. Pricing was about as expected. Decor is what one would expect for a Mexican style restaurant but with a few extras like a TV and radio playing in the background. We really enjoyed our experience the first time we were here so we brought a friend back with us, especially to try the churros. But first we ordered some Posole, Enchiladas, and Flautas. All were delicious and filling. They had good flavor and were nicely presented. The refried beans and guacamole that the enchiladas and flautas came with were also very good. We also ordered some churros and these were wonderfully delicious again. Really the churros here are the best I've had in PR. Very good. I would have given this place a 5 star review the first time we ate here but I missed the opportunity. This time was slightly different in that our experience felt more around a 4 star quality as the staff was a bit distracted and not as prompt. But for the most part service is good, the food is very good, and again we had a nice experience. So I awarded the 5 stars. I highly recommend Casita Mexicana. Good stuff here. read more

Food- It was ok. The tacos needed a better flavor and the pozole tasted like almost water. Food needs spice for it to be mexican. Staff was friendly and helpful. Ambiance- we really liked the streamers hung up. Reminded us of a small town in Mexico called Sayulita. read more

Our visit here lasted less than 1 min. Right after sitting down, my wife detected a 1 in insect on the wall next to her.....

We really enjoyed our night here. I took pics of most of the food. It's different than what we are used to, but we understand that only stuff from the US can be imported here. We will be back (but I'm sneaking in some jalapeños or at least Tabasco sauce with me next time - gotta add a little heat :). The service was great and the servers all worked together to help out. I loved the decorations. They reminded me of being in Mexico. Pro tip: ask about ingredients (esp if you aren't from PR) cuz it's different than what you might expect if you're from the Southwest. Two thumbs up for an awesome neighborhood Mexican joint. This has become a regular spot for our family because of the friendly service and good food. Some of my favorites include the queso fundido with chorizo, tacos al pastor, beef flautas and the cajetas con crustos (AMAZING!). Great margaritas and beer is always served ice cold with super cute chilled ceramic mugs. During my last visit on a Friday night they had a really nice singer performing Mexican songs by request. It created such a nice environment instead of having mariachi trumpets in your ears in a small space like other Mexican restaurants in the area. The restaurant has complimentary valet parking to make your visit more comfortable. read more

Tons of food for a really good price. We got, tacos. Burrito, guacamole, chips, 2 desserts, a beer and a margarita for $45. The tacos were okay, I wouldn't get then again. Everything else was impeccable. The churros were amazing, and so was the guac and burrito. The service was really good as well. read more

El restaurante Casita Mexicana en la esmeralda fue una experiencia devastadora. Le di la oportunidad al lugar por el cual fui dos ocasiones, y cual de las dos peor. Calidad de la comida no fue la mejor, carnitas estaban shredded ( desmenuzadas) una consistencia de pull pork guisado. Uno espera unas carnitas bien hechas por el precio de las mismas. La quesadilla de pollo de niños tenia un sabor a peculiar. La salsa de queso en la que el pollo esta mesclada al parecer estuvo fuera de temperatura segura por mucho tiempo dando un sabor no agradable. Al sentarse casi hay que rogar por los chips complementarios, se estaban rifando quien nos atendía, al final fue Robert y nos atendió bastante bien. No recomiendo el lugar a nadie que quiera comer una buena comida mexicana y disfrutar de un ratito agradable. Awesome family owned place. One of our favorite Mexican places in PR. The staff is always smiling and very friendly and the service is excellent. Try a beer, they serve the bottle with a super cold clay mug that forms small ice crystals on the top...the best! The food is outstanding too! My family and I have been loyal clients for years. We have enjoyed this place and have recommended it to anybody who would listen with great joy. However, last night we had an awful experience with a couple of waiters and the owner. When we politely tried to address the issue we were brushed off with a condescending smile. Worse yet...when we addressed the issue on there Facebook page, instead of recognizing any responsibility, they flat out lied in their characterization of what transpired in an attempt to justify their actions. Like I said on their FB page...losing my family as clients isn't going to close their business. Apparently, they are doing well enough that they can afford to not value their most loyal customers without accepting or recognizing any responsibility for their actions. It's a slippery slope when businesses begin to take their clients for granted...I only hope that their apparent success continues regardless of the way they treat their clients. No restaurant serves food so good that is worth putting up with smug management. At least not for me....you all decide for yourselves. But this place does not get another penny from me. read more

If you want real mexican food, then this is the place! the house margaritas are very good!!! it's a small place so arrive early. it can get very busy very quickly! that also have take out so if you are craving mexican but want to eat in your pjs just order it, pick it up and enjoy at home! the pozole is very good and it's the best hangover cure! the desserts are to die for!! read more

Tired of the regular tex-mex, I decided to adventure at this new mexican restaurant I saw in the news. The parking is not too big but we came by Sunday and there are lots of spaces for closed businesses. They welcome you with a smile as soon as you come through the door. We chose our own seats and placed our orders. Chips and salsa are served immediately, on the house. We had Caldo Tlalpeño, Chimichanga and Churros DF with cajeta and icecream. The soup was awesome, flavorful and well seasoned with fresh ingredients. I was happy when I saw onions, shredded chicken, avocado and cilantro, all fresh. Then we had the maincourse... I love the queso fundido and have it everytime I visit Mexico. Dessert was a dream come true! Hot and cold, sweet and tender! Loved the Churros! I was pleasantly surprised that the hype of this place stood to the test! It does taste of Mexico, so I am planning on coming back soon! read more

The service was very good. Liked the décor and illumination. The food didn't impress me. They say it is authentic Mexican food but I don't feel like it. I've tasted better and more representative Mexican food here in PR and US. Good margaritas. Mole on Tijuana's Old San Juan is better than theirs. Won't be back. read more

Went here for a quick late lunch. Had a couple of margaritas to start. They brought the margaritas with ice on the side. My only qualm was that margaritas were warm, they weren't chilled before serving. Otherwise it was very good. Had the ceviche taco on a soft wheat shell. Must admit I was pleasantly surprised. Ceviche was very good. Not gummy or slimy, where the flesh would be destroyed, but very well balanced in flavor and flesh was still firm. My friend had the carnitas taco and small burrito combo. Carnitas was very flavorful. Definitively a place to return. read more

Best mexican stop ever. Lots of restaurants around and although before owner had this place crowded, recent owners have the real thing. Tamales, tacos, pozole, etc. Always have a smile and a welcomed greeting for us. Always enjoy what they have to offer. read more

Wife is pregnant and wanted to eat Mexican. We've driven by this place many times and today we decided to give it a try. Greeted with a smile and seated immediately. Quickly the server took our drinks order and just as quick they arrived. The lemonade is made at the moment and with fresh juicy lemons. Ordered the Nachos Monterrey for an appetizer and they were tasty. The kids chicken tenders and fries are big and the chicken is lightly breaded for a nice crunch keeping the chicken nice and juicy. We ordered other items on the menu and they were just as good. The prices are extremely affordable for the quality of the food. Definitely an authentic Mexican Restaurant with the typical Mexican hospitality. We will definitely be back and recommend this place. read more
