I took one star away for the loss of atmosphere seems a lot of changes have taken place new menus new personnel and what started out has now been taken over by the children. While they try to keep the food the same there a small touches that I've long been lost and to see the changes knowing what was here before is something one would have to adapt to. I very much appreciate that two of my favorite menu items that are not listed on their menu any longer upon my request was happily cooked to order as it had been years ago. I will note the sour cream is different it tastes more Americanized like Daisy brand or something. I also no longer need to rely on my Spanish to place my order or get around the store. Enjoying my new menu updates and photos of lunch that you can still get if you know how to ask. ;)

As a previous reviewer stated, "by Mexicans, for Mexicans." That statement sums it up perfectly. The building leaves much to be desired. I probably would never have set foot in here if it weren't for the rave reviews of the food. As an American, I was a bit put off by the dusty wares, and empty shelves in this little market. But, I strode forward, with an obvious hesitation in my step that caught the attention of the gentleman behind the counter who was quick to list off food that they had. We asked what his favorite was, and that was the torte de milanesa. It's simply a sandwich of thinly sliced steak which has been breaded and deep fried. The sandwich is topped with lettuce and tomato, queso fresca, avacado and a number of other things. And it was downright delicious. We almost immediately ordered another one. We also got two tamales which were right on the money. Absolutely perfect. While we were there, there were two Latino familes that came in, some average Joe's like ourselves along with quite a few business men. It was an odd mix, but these people are obviously in the know. We almost went back the very next day.

Ordered tacos, tostado and food was very dry and completely lacked flavor. Expected something a lot better from all the good reviews.

If we really do eat…read morewith our eyes first, the appetizers start at the curb (and continue in the entry hall-stop and check out the wall art on the way). Truly-it's a feast for the senses-all the colorful lamps, the background music, the accent lighting and wall quotes, even the menus: super colorful and stylish. I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30, for a late lunch after morning errands. I was hoping to find a new hangout for Saturday nights with friends. This place is large-so many booths and tables-and a separate bar area with tall stools. It's somewhat dim inside, even with all the windows, which just adds to the ambiance. It's also very clean and well staffed. Service was quick and efficient--complimentary chips and salsa arrived in a flash-and I truly appreciate my server telling me the margarita at the bottom of the list was $40. (None of the cocktails have prices listed in the menu, as of May 2026). I wanted to order a couple of things, since I'd been trying to get here for so long. I ordered queso fundido, expecting it to be cheese dip with a bit or chorizo. It was actually the other way around: chorizo with a spoonful of cheese on top. It was surprising-very filling and tasty enough-and I liked that it came with three flour tortillas. But I don't think I'll get it again. Don't let that deter you, though. It's just my preference. It's made well and presented nicely, like everything here. Give it a whirl! I also ordered enchiladas Suizas. They came with a small guacamole salad and beans, which I swapped out for rice. This dish was really tasty and a generous portion-so much chicken in the enchiladas-super filling but not heavy at all. I was full from the appetizer, so I had lots of leftovers. They reheated beautifully. I would definitely order this again. But it's a big and intriguing menu. I have lots more exploring to do! This location has several sister restaurants, in places like Lakeland and Zephyrhills. This one is right off I-75 and really easy to access. There's lots of parking and I think they have mariachis, certain nights. I will definitely be back-sooner rather than later-and get more details. Cheers!

I said I…read morewould never go back after my second visit because of how tasteless the food is and how expensive it is for cheap products they use to make the food. Because it was Easter and my wife wanted Mexican food, I figured after a year since my last visit to this restaurant they may have gotten better. I was actually worse. The FREE chips and salsa were terrible. Chips were hard and old tasting and the salsa was watery and tasteless. I think I found one onion piece in the tomato soup they call salsa. Let's start with the service. Mr. No personality, what do you want, why are you asking me questions about the menu truly just seemed annoyed that my wife had a question before we ordered. I had the combo fajita with steak and chicken. My with had the Carne Asada tacos. The tacos had no flavor at all. Just tasted liked chopped up pork with a lot of onions and cilantro on top had no spices no seasoning. As for my fajitas, they to were lacking flavor and the portion for what they charge was shameful I had a big plate of onions with a couple of minced up pieces of chicken and steak scattered throughout it. Both our dishes were served with refried beans and rice and even that tasted like they forgot to season it or just chose not to season it. Truly never returning to this place. It sucks!!!!!!! Should have driven the extra 15 minutes to some of the places that have good reviews on Yelp.

Like real deal authentic. You know it's authentic when you step inside and Banda music is playing. If you're eating there, seating is communal. So you may share space with another person/party but do not let that deter you from their fabulous food! I opted to order my usuals.. tacos to start. If a place cannot do tacos.. then it's safe to say don't go back BUT this place DOES tacos. And the OG way. Cilantro & Onion. Not the gringo.. cheese and sour cream kind of way. no offense to any Tex mex lovers out there. The woman behind the counter was very pleasant. And the Tias in the back cooking were throwing it dowwwwn. If I ever were to stumble back into Ruskin... 10000% I'd make my way back here. Oh and their agua frescas... fire! We had jamaica (hibiscus) and horchata. They serve it in a 32oz'er. You'll gulp it down . To any yelper who recently gave a mean 1-2 star review... I'm sorry YOU had a bad day. We did not know that walking in. They all looked at us like what are you doing here? My husband even said is this a restaurant? So we asked for a menu - which is a QR code. Yes- they have food. We decided to sit at the bar and at least have a drink. It was early so no a lot of people. Everyone seemed confused as to how things worked. Most employees spoke Spanish and we do not. A bartender did speak English. He asked what we wanted and took our drink order. He was nice. We did end up getting food. Chips and salsa=$10! Other items were priced fairly. We asked for water and he claimed they only had bottles of still water=$4.50. But we saw someone else get a glass with ice/water at another table. Also be warned there is a "service fee" of 15% (for what I have no idea) and if you use a credit card 3% card fee. We searched on line to see what people said about this place and some other reviews on Google said they charge $10 to get in although we were not charged anything to come in. In the end the food was pretty good. Bottom line- this is a nightclub with an identity problem as they are trying to serve food as well and it just does not have a restaurant or bar&grill feel to it. We won't be back as not our scene, but also wish them well with the clients they really are trying to attract.

It was open for business, but there was only one other group of two in there with us-and only one server-who was also the bartender. It was a little odd. I'm sure this place is popping at night. Our server (who was chatty at the end-businesslike before) told us there's karaoke on Friday nights and a DJ on Saturdays. I'll definitely bring the friends back for that. The drink menu is large-it would be a fun night spot. I'm just not sure I'd come back for a weekday lunch. That's not the food's fault, though. I had chicken enchiladas verde (very nice) with some of the best Mexican rice I've ever had. The margarita was also good. You can tell this restaurant has been around awhile-there are echoes of genres past, with different decor still lingering (the lighting, for example). But I love the murals outside, the bar surrounds, the signage by the stage area and the other Mexican touches. I also really like the vintage windows-it's a nice nod to the past. And it's spotless in here-so clean-with lots of tables. I also thought the prices were fair. I hope they thrive!

Authentic Mexican food. Lots of flavour, good size portions and freshly made juices. We had the chicken burrito, shrimp tacos with corn tortilla shells and chile tatemados. Everything was fresh and didn't take long to come out the kitchen. We washed everything down with a horchata and a freshly squeezed pineapple juice. Both were so good! The size of the drinks are ridiculously huge! 20oz I believe, and well worth the price. Also......free refill with the juice! I actually asked the waitress how much for the to-go juice since we paid already and she said it's free! I don't know of any other place that gives you a free refill of homemade juice. Overall, the place was clean and nicely decorated, and we had a great meal for less than 40 dollars. The waitress was friendly and attentive and I just have to mention that the bathroom was immaculate! The huge TV on the outside patio looks like they have some epic gatherings in the evening And one more thing, they don't serve any kind of alcohol. We will definitely eat here again!
