I've traveled the world including many visits to the non-tourist parts of Mexico. Other than no licquer license; this small Mexican restaurant was delicious with a cool vibe, plenty of outdoor seating and great service. The homemade guacamole, chips and salsa were great. My Mom has the tacos and I had the 3 meat fajitas. The meat was grilled to perfection and very flavorful with delicious rice, beans, salad and tortillas. Stopped here after a short hike and the delicious agua fresca was exactly what I needed! It was so tasty that my kid, who originally didn't want any, got one to-go after trying mine. Excited to go back and try different flavors. We all got tacos, which were also tasty but I wish I'd done something more exciting than picadillo. Solid spot. I was going to give a 5 star rating anyway but they do offer a free drink if you to. My party had carnitas, chicharon, asada, and chicken tacos as well as a salad. Stopped on the way home from playing golf from Sun City Center the back way to Plant City. Went to window and ordered food. It came out quickly. I have eaten Mexican Food many times and this was the best. From the bread to the entree it was the best I have ever had. If you want authentic Mexican Food go there. What a surprising little spot we found! Was taking mother out for lunch on a Sunday and decided Mexican would fit the Bill. Yelp directed us here and we were not disappointed. The menu had all the staples and then some. Plenty of variety! The prices were definitely right for lunch. Maybe one of the most notable items was the freshly made tortillas. We got carne Asada. The carne is sliced steak. Not a big piece of single steak. It is stir fry and accompanied with salad and salad. Taste is good. The second dish is what we want. The whole fish. Taking the back roads from Lake Placid to Tampa, we ended up driving through Wimauma around lunch time. A quick Yelp search made this place sound appealing, so into the large, dusty parking lot we went. There is seating both inside and out; we went with indoors, and while they did have a wall unit A/C, it was still pretty warm in there. Plus - they seemed to have a fly problem, although the server soon attacked them with a fly swatter. We started with chips and salsa, which were clearly both homemade and delicious. Any time I see a fried whole fish on the menu, I'm in, and this time was no exception. It came out perfectly cooked, crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside, and I could not stop picking at it. It was served with rice, beans, flour tortillas, and a little salad. First I want to say I love the aesthetic of this restaurant. The patio is beautiful and cozy and they have lights up as well so I can't wait to go there for dinner soon. I also came during lunch and the weather was a plus to our outdoor experience. Interesting Mexican restaurant to stop in and grab a bite to eat. You can sit outside in the sun or you can sit in the screened-in area where it's a little bit cooler in the shade but still no AC. The food has always been good here - made from scratch and quite affordable. Maria has done a great job fixing up the place. Now you can sit outdoors at picnic tables under palm frond umbrellas and often a neighborhood chicken or rooster will strut by. The indoor seating is also very nice, especially when it's too hot to eat outside. The staff are always very accomodating and friendly. This place delivers if you want authentic Mexican food in a casual atmosphere. You can choose to dine outside there's a few tables spread out with umbrellas, or take the other road of dining inside with televisions and comfy tables and air-conditioning. I chose this after 7 miles of paddling on the river so you know I went with air-conditioning. Menu is pretty thorough I really wanted to have the Carne Asada, with corn tortillas, salad, and my favorite barracho bean soup. For Good measure, I also got a just side order of seafood tostada because I haven't had a good one in a long time! They are good spicy crunchy good amount of shrimp excellent. We also split a side of chips and salsa and of course lovely moist decadent piece of Tres leches cake. :p. Absolutely plan to come back when in this area of Wimauma when the new lagoon opens up!
