This is a very small and cozy restaurant in the Latin quarter owned by a very nice older gentleman who is very hands on in his restaurant. The service is good and friendly, the ambiance is quaint, and the food is affordable and served in generous portions. I really hate to say anything negative because the owner is so likable. However, the food quality is a *wild* hit or miss.
Good things:
* the duck confit and garlic potatoes were both well seasoned and delicious. An excellent dish all around
* the pork filet was tender and the sauce on top was very unique and flavorful
* the puff pastry was melt in your mouth quality with very fresh ice cream. The chocolate really tied it together and I could eat that dessert forever
The mediocre things:
* the escargot, chocolate mousse, mayonnaise eggs and fries were all decent. Passable. Edible.
The bad things :(
* the pâté was very bland and vaguely like cat food, and the toasts were oddly stodgy and stale
* the French onion soup itself was very good, but it had a NIGHTMARISH amount of cheese on it. I know this is French food but oh my god the cheese was so deep it was half the bowl
* the vegetarian entree was a phoned in pile of random things, not a dish. Don't claim to have a vegetarian option if it's literally just a pile of legumes
* the creme brûlée had a nice sugar top but the inside just tasted like egg yolks
France is full of incredible, incredible food. This place is charming but go eat decent food read more
