Gord and I had lunch at the Maritime Ale House at the Halifax Airport…read more Gord ordered Seafood Pasta. He said it was good and he'd get it again. There was a lot of seafood. I ordered pan fried haddock with crushed potatoes (and no veggies). The potatoes were really good. The fish was just okay ... I could taste more of the oil it was "pan fried" in than the fish. Mary, our server, was friendly and took good care of us.

I was hoping for a solid (re, greasy and satisfying) breakfast that was better than the fast food options across the court, and while it still was, it wasn't all that impressive. Going with their breakfast special, I chose sausage for my meat and my eggs over easy. After a short wait while I read my free Globe and Mail, my meal arrived as airport staff trickled in to have breakfast before their shifts started. While there were an impressive four sausage links, they looked like they had been sitting on the back of the grill for much too long and had gone beyond golden brown to resemble what Snooki's skin will likely look like in a decade - wrinkly and an unnaturally dark colour. My eggs are cooked perfectly, but they seem like they may have spent too much time in the walk in, as the whites are obviously loose and the egg in general is a little bland. The only saving grace of the meal are the tasty and crisp home fries as well as a little slice of watermelon which makes me feel marginally less guilty about the (un)healthiness of my meal. While it may have been a better choice than Burger King, I was left feeling like I should have gone for a breakfast biscuit at Tim Horton's and saved myself a few dollars and the experience of the Snooki sausages.

It offers wines, beers and spirits from local producers in Nova Scotia. Wine is the predominant product on offer, but there is enough to cater to all tastes. Staff area wonderful pleasant and helpful, quick to offer guidance, but also to step back and let you be if you're just browsing. I've bought numerous items from here over the years, some better than others, so if you don't know the winery or brewery, it can be hit & miss, but to be fair, often that's part of the fun and experience of trying something new. If you do buy multiple bottles of wine, they have solid cardboard carriers for you which will offer a little bit of protection on your flight.

This lovely shop is located just past security, and predominantly features a cool map of Nova Scotia on one wall, with about a dozen local products mounted on the wall and pointing out where they came from. It's a nice touch that brings home where these delicious libations are from, although it does take up half of their wall space, so I'm conflicted between the cool factor and having more selection. While wine takes up the largest portion of shelf space, there is still a good amount of craft beer, as well as spirits and a few ciders as well. The staff member was really friendly and knowledgeable, and I ended up getting a bottle of wine and a couple bottles of cider, all of which were wrapped up in paper to protect them in their carry-on travels. It's not a duty-free shop, so any flyer can purchase their wares. Liquid Assets is a fantastic idea that will add value to the burgeoning local alcohol industries, and enhances the airport as a whole. If YHZ can get a good restaurant, they'll be set!

Although I didn't count them, they menu included about 15 local beers, from lagers and ales to sours and two cast conditioned choices. If you can't decide, they offer 4 drink flight samplers. I had the house smoked porchetta toast, so good. The menu isn't broad but every item looked really good. Service is friendly and professional, very knowledgeable about the beer list. They offer hard liquor as well and I wish they focused on local fair as well since Nova Scotia is producing some great spirits. Not much to find a fault here, if you like beer!

I lost count on how many breweries we visited on this trip. I am surprised I'm NOT drunk. Well, we did walk miles and miles, lol. That can sober anyone quickly. 16 beers on tap, I tasted all the IPA's. All of which were good/okay. But then again, I have been drinking all day.... Food was available. But I am on a liquid diet, lol. Ambiance - See pictures. This was the last brewery we visited, so my memory has faded, lol. Cool modern decor. 2 floors/stories. Toilets on the bottom floor. Open 7 days a week. See website for specific hours. Yelp's hours differ. Service - Good. Price - $6.50 CAD + tax, $4.60 USD a pint + tax and tip. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 2013 and with your 4 locations; 2 down, 2 to go, lol.

Their flight blocks are cute and fun and made out to resemble a little train cart. They have 9 taps for beer and have quite the selection. Currently they have 'good grief charlie' a brown ale and 'wheat in the knees' which were all amazing. They have a tiny kitchen with a small but heart menu of salads, chilli cheese dogs and flatbreads (and a few other things). The staff are absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and will do anything for you, as someone who prefers a root beer to beer - they went out of their way to get me a sprite (which blew my mind). My partner absolutely enjoyed this lovely time. They also have a few games to play! Highly recommend this little brewery, it's small but it is mighty delicious.

Follow them on Facebook and Twitter and I think Instagram too - so you know their hours, what's new on tap, what's on the guest taps (buy local!). Trivia night #2 was a success! We ordered pizza this time from Rocky Lake Pizza across the street and omg that was the perfect meal paired with the perfect Off Track brew. I had the Sessional IPA on tap 8 (I forgot the name) and it was soooo tasty that I had two (not like me). The rest of my party went for the Damn Skippy (peanut butter mmmmm - you have to try it). Flights are a way to sample several brews - usually I do that. Love the merch! Normally, I don't buy this stuff from places but I have several items already and I'm most definitely getting the zip up hoodie next time. Lots more I can say, like... Dog friendly establishment. Projector for watching "the sports". Clean. Friendly faces - who will explain the various brews on tap. No kitchen - but you can bring your food there - ask the guys, they'll be happy to help.
