This was an excellent spot to hit before or even after your flight! The summer menu had amazing food pictures that we ended up ordered all our items from it. Lobster everything! And the lobster on everything was very nice and good portions/chunks of lobster. The cold lobster roll with that fresh lettuce was one of my favourite ones from the whole trip out East! Service was exceptionally fast and the waitress understood we had a flight to catch so she didn't doodle putting in our order and clearing the bill efficiently too. And the food did come out fast which was super appreciated considering this place was packed! Added in a Nine Locks brew which was a lovely beer while we enjoyed the cool decor. I'm glad we had time to hit this place before our flight.

Got to the Halifax airport early, and this was the only sit down restaurant open at the time. There were fast food and coffee shops open, but that's not what we were looking for. I wasn't expecting much based on the reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. They were serving breakfast only. I got "On the Dole" for $11, which was a great deal and a decent sized breakfast - 2 eggs, bacon, tater tots and multigrain toast with PB&J! Everything was yummy! Hubby got the breakfast tacos and said they were delish. Service is friendly and fast! The booths and chairs are super comfy. This is a solid breakfast choice when traveling through the Halifax airport.

If you're traveling out of Halifax Airport, not a bad spot to eat. They have lots of seating and it can get quite busy, but service is great. My friend and I both ordered the lobster roll with tater tots/fries and a Caesar. Decent sized portions and decent value for money, especially for something within an airport. They make the Caesar with either Maple or Habanero infused vodka (both made locally in NS) which gives it a unique spin especially if you like your Caesars spicy. Overall a good spot for a quick meal before your flight.

Food that doesn't suck and isn't grossly overpriced at an airport? This was a first for me, lol. What a pleasant surprise. I think this pub is part of the Firkin Pubs chain. My husband and I were waiting for our flight back home to Ottawa and we wanted to have something to eat and decided on the Firkin and Flyer. We both got the Lobster BLT ($20). My husband got his with kettle chips (his first choice was tater tots, but they had ran out), while I got mine with a garden salad, with the dressing on the side. I was thrilled when they brought out my plate and I saw that the garden salad was a real mesclun mix, with no iceberg or romaine in sight. Yay! It also had cucumbers and diced tomatoes. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette. The dressing was a bit oily, but I used just a tiny amount so it was ok. Vegetables were fresh. The Lobster BLT was delicious! It has real chunks of lobster mixed in a mayo sauce with crispy bacon slices, lettuce and tomatoes. I was so happy that the lobster sandwich did not have any fake crab filler mixed in. Yeah, I know, no self-respecting restaurant should ever serve a lobster roll with fake crab in it, but it happens all the time in Ottawa :( So $20 for a tasty lobster sandwich with a side salad with real lettuces and not "wannabee salad ingredients" like iceberg, at an airport? Wow! Service wasn't the friendliest or most attentive. I finished my water part way through the meal and placed the empty glass by the edge of the table for our server to see, and she walked by several times but did not refill it :( Her mission seemed to be to get people in and out as fast as possible. I guess in an airport environment, this is the name of the game. But whatever, I'm just glad that I didn't pay $20 for fake crab and iceberg lettuce, lol. Yeah, my expectations at airports are low, but now they have been elevated. The food and prices at the Firkin and Flyer are in line with what I would expect of a pub not in an airport. Thank you for not gouging us and not compromising on quality and quantity just because you have a captive audience at the airport (I'm looking at you, D'Arcy McGee's at the Ottawa airport!!). Thank you for being a regular Firkin Pub that just happens to be at the airport.

This is my first experience at this restaurant at the airport and I wasn't disappointed. Service was prompt and friendly. The location was well situated after security, near the bathrooms and ahead of the gates. I had the lobster BLT and it was tasty. I'm not a huge mayo fan, so I was a bit cautious, but it was fine. Friends had the Shepherd's Pie, Salmon Bowl, and another had a burger. We are a group who has very diverse tastes and they were able to satisfy us all. When I'm though the airport again, I've already decided that I'm having the Salmon Bowl! I'd recommend giving it a try!

Meh. Nothing special for the price. Server wasn't especially friendly. Could be worse.

Super busy but the crew amazingly keep up with it, big portion & pretty reasonable price for airport restaurants. Nice music too! Love it!

This place is a refreshing addition to the number of restaurants in Kentville. The food is phenomenal. The owner who are super friendly and welcoming, makes sure to have local produce and food items included in their menu, like the locally grown delicious mushrooms, or locally raised beef/pork. Not your typical taqueria but great atmosphere, delicious food. You can have your pick of taco, quesadilla, burrito, in a bowl, or salad, or even in a bag of chips! Every dish is different as you can choose whatever protein and toppings you'd like. Their homemade sauces/salsas are also very good along with the local nova Scotian hot sauces available to add to your taco/burrito/quesadilla for that added extra zing. Aside from the food, they also have a very good drink menu. Real good thirst-quenching margaritas that you can get in different flavors as well. They have also partnered with a local brewery to come up with their own brew - the mexican lager. Every visitor we get, I make sure to bring them to this place and everyone always says they love the food. If you are in kings county, make sure you stop by and get your fill of their delicious food!

The space is small with limited seating, but there is also a small bar top and a great patio right on Main Street (Highway 1). Love the variety of options and super happy and friendly staff. There's an all day breakfast and even a taco paddle (8 tacos of your choice for $50) which is great for sharing with friends to make it super affordable! The bar menu is amazing with so many local options as well as 0% choices. Order food and drinks at the counter - no table service. Love that the space is accessible and easy to get in and out of. Parking right out front on Main Street or the large grocery store parking lot right next door.

The Asian fusion entrées looked outstanding, but we had come to Nova Scotia Hoping for fresh seafood. Then my eyes landed on "Fish Tacos". My heart skipped a beat. When our server told us they were prepared with haddock, the Hallelujah Chorus immediately began playing in my head. Haddock is native to the cold waters off Nova Scotia, so it simply doesn't get any fresher than that. As an added bonus, we ordered the garlic aioli fries, generously sprinkled with Parmesan and Romano cheese. While our meals were being prepared, our server, Jacob, completely won us over with his warm personality, attentive service, and fascinating insights into life in Nova Scotia. At the time, we were the only guests in the restaurant, and he laughed as he explained that 32°C was considered a bit on the warm side for the locals. If they weren't working, he said, they were probably at home enjoying the air-conditioning! Then our food arrived. It was beautifully plated, but the presentation was only the opening act. When I took my first bite ... oh my goodness! It was without question, the most delicious fish taco I have ever eaten. Even my 74-year-old taste buds perked up like my kitty when she hears the rustling of her treat bag. Every bite delivered a delicate crunch, followed by moist, flaky, haddock, complemented by sweet, pineapple bits, pickled jalapeños, avocado aïoli, and a light dusting red pepper flakes. The balance of flavors were simply extraordinary. Honestly, I can't imagine a better fish taco. The restaurant itself is equally inviting. Natural wood finishes create a warm relaxed atmosphere. that makes you want to linger. The portions were generous. The prices are reasonable and Jacob's outstanding hospitality elevated the entire dining experience. If your travels bring you anywhere near Halifax, do yourself a favor and stop by Side Hustle in Dartmouth on the other side of the bay. It's one of those delightful culinary gems that you'll remember long after the last bite and one we will enthusiastically recommend to anyone visiting the Halifax/Dartmouth area of Nova Scotia.
