Just finished a long bike ride to the Eiffel Tower and worked up an appetite. Decided to go straight to the main course. They are known for Au Gratins. My son is not a cheese fan so he opted for the norvigene (smoked salmon in dill lemon and EVOO. I decided to stick with the house specialty; Landais Au Gratin (cream potatoes, duck breast and emmental cheese). The 2 girls beside me ordered a cider with both their meals so I followed their lead. When in Paris...... Considering the temperature, I almost second-guess myself and ordered something other than their house specialty of au gratin potatoes. In the end, I was very glad I overruled that thought. Brody enjoyed his meal. He just appeared to still be hungry when it was done and a 16 year-old boy that normally has a high caloric intake, I can understand why he wanted a second meal after eating his first! The restaurant in the patio were quite crowded even though we had reservations. They still sat us within five minutes of arrival. Not five minutes is a long time away, but it was still worth the weight as good as the food tasted. We both enjoyed our meals.

I tried kir with black currant (French cocktail). It was nice and refreshing. I got one of the specials that comes with app, entree and dessert and hubs got a pizza along with escargot. The salad was huge! Enough to share. I love the bitter greens and the bacon along with crunchy croutons. The escargot were buttery and perfectly chewy. Grilled steak is pretty standard in Europe and it has a nice flavor, but fatty. The pizza was thin and grilled and I love the runny egg in the middle. The coffee ice cream desert was the perfect bite to end the meal. I enjoyed everything and the service was fab. What a gem! We would come back again next time we are here.

The cuisine itself felt noticeably influenced by Chinese cooking rather than traditional French flavors. The pasta was overcooked, and the portion sizes were smaller than other restaurants in the same price range nearby, which added to the disappointment. Having traveled from the United States to Paris, I was hoping for an authentic French dining experience, but this did not meet that expectation. Additionally, instead of presenting the bill at the table, I was asked to go to the cashier to pay, which felt inconsistent with typical French restaurant service. Overall, while the restaurant may appeal to some, it does not deliver what I would consider a genuine French dining experience.
