Brasserie Bellanger - Couldn't decide between the Bernaise sauce or garlic herb butter so got both!

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

The restaurant itself isn't small, but really not big, so it's definitely worthwhile to make a reservation at least a week or so on advance, otherwise you're pushing your luck. Everyone ordered steak frites (2 rump steak, 2 flank) and no one was disappointed. Steaks were cooked to order, although medium here in France is more like medium rare in the States, just be advised. The restaurant itself is lively and fun with lots of chatting, laughing and good times being shared. Desserts were Crème Brûlée and Apple Crumble, neither of which were disappointing. We definitely enjoyed our dinner and would likely return again. This time with a reservation made well in advance.

My husband got the prix fixe menu with French onion soup, duck breast with sweet potato, and dessert. The French onion soup had such a rich depth of flavor and i can confidently say this was the best I've ever tried. The duck breast was succulent and perfectly cooked, with an amazing red wine reduction, complemented perfectly by the sweet potato. The dessert was apple millefieulle and speculoos with coffee ice cream. I wouldn't think of apple and coffee going together but it was a nice end to the meal. I must add that we came with our 4 year old - a tough critic - and he ate 3 helpings of the mashed sweet potatoes! I was feeling like something light this evening and ordered the veggie plate and was not disappointed. This may have been one of my favorite veggie plates I've ordered - there were so many flavors to choose from, it was definitely my kind of meal! From the eggplant layered component, to the light yet complex broccoli soup, to the potatoes, everything was excellent. But the star for me was the garlic mushrooms - I wish I knew how to make these! My husband and I talked about how much we enjoyed our and how we must try the escargot and foie gras next time. This is a must visit on our next trip to Paris!!

This place has that scrappy energy in the best possible way--servers switching effortlessly between languages, bartenders pulling double duty, and everyone working with heart and hustle. They got some strong American diner vibes with authentic french food and wine. We started with a bold and unique Chenin Sous Voile from Domaine Jousset--dry, nutty, and layered like a white port's sophisticated cousin. Highly recommend for anyone looking to drink something memorable. For mains: The flank steak was perfectly cooked medium rare, tender, and full of flavor. Modest portion, but just right considering the quality. The lamb tourine was a standout--fall-apart tender, moist, and rich without being heavy. The sauce was made for mopping up with couscous, and paired beautifully with our carafe of Syrah. Everything was balanced, thoughtfully plated, and delicious without being flashy. Portions and prices were modest, which left room to explore the menu. This is the kind of spot that makes you feel like you're in Paris--not just visiting. Cozy, charming, and quietly brilliant.
