    The food was very good. Not much abalone with the pasta but it was still one of my favorite dishes from the evening. The chocolate clams were my other favorite. Both black cod preparations were a little salty for my tastes but enjoyed by the friends who ordered it. Service was bit sporadic. The steamed clams were overcooked and very salty. It also didn't come out until the rest of us (5 of 6) had almost finished our meal. Two of our friends ordered two different beers but got served the same one (that was neither of one they requested).

    Business says it closes at 8pm however the kitchen closes at 645pm. They did not offer to seat me but people are still eating. Not sure about this Michellin Star restaurant yet. They should state they close at 645 and not at 8pm. Disappointing when the restaurant was not busy. Lets see if I return. The ambiance looked nice however simple. Many locals highly recommended this place to me. La Concheria management I highly recommend placing a sign on the building denoting the name of the restaurant and changing your published hours to reflect your kitchen times.

    This is a great little place! The ambiance is artsy, clean, and relaxing. We tried the yummy oysters, steamed mussels and octopus ceviche. I'll definitely be back!

    Two words: fresh seafood. This was the last meal on our weekend trip to Ensenada and Valle, and I must say, what a memorable way to close things out! First off, one of my friends asked if the neighborhood was the "North Park" of Ensenada? Haha - the analogy fits because this is a hip looking area featuring a collection of businesses including a wine shop and gelato store nearby - within historical brick buildings. Delightful. Upon walking into La Concheria there are high ceilings with an industrial-chic look. Think unpainted wood everywhere. There's an open kitchen so the sights and smells of fresh seafood are abundant. The menu has variety yet it is focused and fits on one page. Started things off with a Victoria beer and things kept improving from there. Ordered the fish ceviche (pictured) which was fresh and an insane portion. The sweet potato provided a starchy base to contrast the fresh, acidic flavor from the fish and lime. Excellent. Throw some on top of a tostada and you are good to go. But we didn't come to a different country just to eat one dish, right? Next up - abalone pasta. Perfect al-dente texture and fresh abalone. Yum. Excited to return in the future to try out their other dishes!

    Bland and below average food, the Oysters are about 1.25in (about 75% smaller than a normal Oyster) the rissotto was watered down rice and the Scallops where Chewy and the sauce to acidic

    Best food in Ensenada! You will not regret it. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend the ceviche mixto with the red onion sauce in lime ...delish!

    A nice little spot in the main tourist area of Ensenada. They offer a variety of super fresh, local foods. My buddy stopped in for a quick beer and a few high protein snacks. We ordered abalone, yellowfin sashimi (just caught), and of course fresh oysters! The pricing is here is very affordable and the portions are bite sized. Would highly recommend checking this place out, and if you're still hungry, go grab some fish tacos at any of the shops nearby!

    This is one of my most favorite seafood spots in the world! My husband and I had a moment of panic when we walked up to the old location and it wasn't there! Luckily the friendly people in the shop next door gave us directions on how to find their new location which was a quick walk from the tourist street and so so worth it! The food is just as amazing as always and the new location is beautiful with lots of other little shops and a winery to check out. We ordered the ceviche because I can't go there and not get it! So delicious and super fresh! Clean restaurant, friendly staff, food is fantastic!

    Amazing amazing amazing seafood. Chef Roberto was very hospitable. He took the time to talk to us at the end of our meal, and we talked about where he gets his seafood, his salt, his other ingredients, etc. We even spoke a few Japanese words like "hamachi" referring to the yellowtail crudo we were eating, and his staff/cocineros said "si, hamachi". Hospitable, kind people. Great seafood. And part of a gorgeous historic building where you can also get a coffee, fresh squeezed juice, mezcal, and more! Totally worth a visit.

    This is truly a hidden gem. The places was immaculate and tried the steamed clams and fish ceviche. Words can't describe the flavor of the ceviche. I've travelled the world extensively and this by far was the best ceviche I've ever had. The ceviche sirs on the plate not a tostada. All fish. Cold bottles of beer was the perfect match. Visit this place. Its located on the side of the Santo Tomas Plaza.

Today, the 21st of November was our lucky day as we were craving the freshest ceviche Ensenada has to offer and experiencce the five star rating Muelle 3 was known for. Our party of 4 chose to sit outside to eat lunch on this cool, cloudy Friday afternoon and be exposed to the sights and sounds of this busy commercial and fishing port. Within minutes of getting settled, our free appetizer - Tortilla Espanola and a plate full of lemon & lime slices with an oyster shell-full of sea salt and chili powder occupied the center of our table. Then came the Ceviche de la casa. A winner in my book of ceviches! Plus a coaster-sized, fresh off the pan tortilla chips gave it a unique serving style. We had to order another bowl of tortillas because eating ceviche without it just won't be the same. The Calamar frito were perefectly breaded, without excess flour and grease in every bite. Another winner! Last but not the least is the Pasta de Mar with the clams of different sizes and pre-cut scallops in the their shell. Muy Delicioso! More hungry patrons started arriving and we still got prompt service. I will make it a point to grab a satisfying seafood dish or two here the next time I visit Ensenada whether by car or by cruise ship.

Shell split like prophecy fulfilled, meat steaming with tales older than Atlantis. The ceviche? Lime and fire in perfect alchemy. It hissed in my mouth like the last words of a betrayed siren. A whole fish, fried until its soul ascended, left bones so clean they could be used in ritual. Angels wept; I salted accordingly. The risotto arrived next, not on a plate but in a chalice. Each bite stirred marrow and memory, comfort and command. My sea legs stood straighter. My resolve thickened. Libations flowed--freely, fervently, faultlessly. The chalice refilled itself (or perhaps the staff were trained in illusion and replenishment). Laughter, clinking glass, and something close to joy dared to rise. Staff were keen-eyed adepts, operating with the grace of trained familiars. The atmosphere carried hints of volcanic enchantment and citrus optimism. Barry the Brave Muffin Baker--my misguided nemesis-ally--might have found peace here. Or at least, a decent aioli. Verdict: A rare convergence of flesh, flavor, and fate. The original location was where the modern fish taco was born supposedly. It all started when Mesoamericans nixtamalized maize, which became flatbreads. Eventually it led to corn tortillas, which were used to hold various fillings like seafood. The Spanish Colonial period introduced new ingredients and cooking techniques. Japanese fishermen in Baja California during the early 20th century helped popularize tempura-style frying. Seafood vendors brought batter fish to the mercado in the 50s/60s, which became a hit. Then a San Diego State University student opened the first Rubio's a couple decades later, and now fish tacos are enjoyed by everyone today. I didn't spend much time here because I had to make it back onto the cruise ship. But as someone who appreciates food and history, it was nice to walk around. The original mercado shuttered in 1967 and the vendors relocated to the waterfront, and eventually moved into the building you see now. Lots of stalls selling all different types of seafood. There's also restaurants nearby where you can order ceviche, cocteles, oysters, and other regional specialties. Never too busy even in the afternoon - they have plenty of tables outside and inside. We walk from the cruise ship terminal and its only about 15 minutes. No need to take the $4 per person shuttle if you are able to walk. They first seat you and bring out 4 different salsas/dips with tostadas that are so light and salty and crispy. The servers are awesome, they are quick and always come around to check on us. We speak some Spanish, but they are happy to speak English as needed! Unfortunateley there is only 1 bathroom, that's the only drawback. We normally get the regular oysters, the baked oysters, fish tacos and ceviche. Always delicious and such a great price! A dozen oysters is only $12. And they are large, not the mini versions in Cali. Unheard of in the states, so we ONLY get oysters in Mexico haha. This time we tried the Keto Taco - OMG so good, and now a new favorite. It's large and made of toasty cheese with fish and veggies inside. This time we got the shrimp ceviche and the large chunks of fresh shrimp are so darn good. Put some mayonesa on the tostada and then some ceviche, then some hot sauce and WOW! The limes they give are so juicy and ripe. We love their sangria, large portions and various flavors. Till next time!

But the other two tacos were amazing, can't replicate anything like that back home. Overall great place, will come back down here any time I'm in Ensenada

Thus we made a point to stop by for food during our second cruise stop in Ensenada, 4 days later. We discovered the large crowds were not in line waiting, but were instead enjoying their ceviche and other cold seafood while standing up. It made for a festive atmosphere, definitely ramping up the enjoyment of really great tasting seafood. The food stall is located facing the main road of Ensenada (walking distance from the cruise port) and is separated into two parts: the front serving seafood tostadas and the back serving cocktails and aquachiles. Each had different lines, with a common guy accepting payment after delivery. They have been doing this for a while (1981?) and things are efficient. I wanted one thing, which was the mixed cocktail with all the seafood available (campechano, a word I've come to love since moving to the LA area). They have 4 sizes from chico ($105) to jumbo ($360). The seafood mix is diced together ahead of time to save on time, and are mostly diced pretty fine. The mix is prepared fresh though, and was ready in about a minute. It was excellent, refreshing and just the right amount for me. I had wanted to try the seafood cocktail again from La Guerrerense (another nearby famous seafood stand), so that was our first stop during our second visit to Ensenada in 5 days. We then visited other sites in the area, saving El Guero for the end before we headed back to the ship. As expected the cocktail from Guerrerense was very good, but this version from El Guero was even better....better selection of seafood, and more finely mixed to give a better representation of the different textures of the freshness. That would make it the best seafood cocktail I've ever enjoyed.

They also brought complimentary chips, salsas, lime, and cabbage, plus ketchup and mayo on the side (we didn't end up using those). The tacos were simple but very well done. The fish and shrimp were fried fresh, light and crispy without being greasy. The shrimp was my favorite. The pico de gallo was fresh and flavorful, and the lime and cabbage added a good balance and crunch. I honestly wish I would've ordered their whole fried fish because it looked incredible, but there's no way two people could've finished it in one sitting. The restaurant itself was clean, and the staff were extremely attentive. The service felt high-class in the sense that they were very respectful and treated the experience with care, almost like a fine dining environment, while still being approachable. Total came out to about $40 USD with a 20% tip ($34 before tip), which is excellent value for the quality and portion. Overall, this is a solid seafood spot in Ensenada. Simple food done right, elevated by great service and a clean, welcoming environment.

    Having gone to the famous mariscos street food stand that is La Guerrerense Carreta on a previous…read morevisit to Ensenada, and eating seafood tostadas standing up with my brother in a street alley while having various juices dribbling down my chin, I knew how good the seafood tostadas here could be. But figured I needed a better way to eat it while visiting Ensenada again with my wife. So this time, went to the nearby sister restaurant, Sabina. It's named for the owner of the original food stand, and there are a lot of pictures of her with other celebrities who appreciated her talent in creating seafood combinations. The Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant is within walking distance from the cruise port, and is located in an area with a lot of other restaurants and shops. We came there soon after it opened around 10 am, and had the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We showed that we were coming from California, by choosing indoor seating. We were given colorful menus and suggestions. We also got complementary chips and salsa, with 4 different varieties of her famous salsas being served. I tried all four of them, and two of them were way too hot, even in moderation. I did really like the green salsa, which tasted more like a simple guacamole. It also came with thinly slices of lime...each small slice producing so much more juice than any lime we get in California. My wife doesn't like raw seafood, so chose garlic shrimp (Caramones al Mojo de Ajo for Mex$405). There were plenty of jumbo headless, shell-on white shrimp, with the butter sauce being very light and not too garlicky. It came with a very good rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables (mostly squash which neither of us are a fan of). I went with 3 choices from the 5 selection 'Champion' list: 1. Erizo con Almeja (Sea Urchin with Clam for Mex$230) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2011 for Best Original Showmanship 2. Caracol con Lajas de Caracol (Mixed Ceviche with Sea Snail for Mex$209) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2012 for Best in Show 3. Singapur (Mex$209) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2013 for unknown category). All three were piled high with fresh seafood, embellished with perfectly ripe avocado slices. None of them needed additional salsa, but adding a squeeze of lime enhanced. My favorite was the Singapore and would try the other two tostadas on the winners list the next time. The best way would be to order all the tostadas and split amongst a group of 4 or 5 friends (there are 6 other special tostadas and you can also create your own with the fresh seafood ingredients). Got two bottles of water (Mex$75 each...not cheap) and a local beer (Vera Niega Mexican Ale, a bottle being Mex$110) that was excellent. Service was attentive and friendly throughout, with multiple servers (Horacio and Antonio) attending to us, all trying to make sure we had a good time. Credit cards are accepted, using a modern tableside POS, and I was happy to pay a gratuity over what is customary. Bathrooms are modern, with individual stalls (most of them gender neutral) all sharing a nice common set of sinks. My wife and I left in fine spirits and it was beginning to fill up more as we left (all dining al fresco, of course). Dining at the nearby original food cart is worth the initial experience, but there is something to having food this good in a sit-down restaurant. Sabina is that place.

This is a spot that you can sit down and drink a beer and get the same amazing seafood. My favorites were the sea urchin tostada as well as the bluefin tostada with fried leaks on top of it. A bonus is that they give you salsa and chips with four different types of salsas. We also grabbed a couple of beers in margaritas which were amazing as well. This is a great spot for a well-known sit down restaurant for seafood tostadas.
