Only a few restaurants on the island open at night - the good one (La Poulard) and this one Confiance are closest to the entrance and the hotels. Menu looks pretty good and interior is nice, modern with a big bar. For the first time in a week in France we ran into the "famed rude French server" - the lady was not interested in being there or serving, didn't listen, got the order wrong, and every time we wanted somethign we had to flag her down. The Onion soup was horrible - flavorless - no bread or cheese on top so not the promised traditional french onion My wife ordered the pork shoulder (I had the soup) -they brought us BOTH the pork shoulder and pretended not to understand when I told them only she ordered. Atmosphere: 5 Inside, it's like a well lit tavern with a fireplace-stove in the dining area. The restaurant is spacious and our host pretty much let us sit wherever we wanted because we slipped in right when it opened for dinner. The laminate tables feel a bit cheap, but I love the exposed bricks and beams! The menu is easy to figure out and there are plenty of options. I love that they have the menu posted outside for you to look at before deciding whether or not you want to eat here. Service: 5 I appreciate the "normal" service time because my husband and I have been eating at very French places where service is slower and dinner takes way too long in general. Food: 4 Dinner rolls were on the house and we ordered the oysters as starters, beef, fowl, and Normandy apple for dessert. The oysters were very fresh and were sooooo good! I didn't realize the traditional beef was a beef stew since it wasn't obvious on the menu, but was glad to have it! While it was good beef stew, it didn't taste like anything different though. My husband's fowl was ok. Again, the flavors were good but weren't anything special to set it apart to be memorable. The apple for dessert was really good. The sugary crumb at the top of the apple is very sweet so I knocked some down to have less. I think I should have had the mussels instead since the oysters were good. No No and No for this place . We had such a great evening and morning walking the beauty alley of the island. We went in for our early morning breakfast. We paid extra for the breakfast to be included with our Hotel stay . The staff instantly asked us if we were staying in a Hotel. We asked to sit by the window side and she rudely said 'NO' ! For a minute we thought she was joking , but she meant it. We found this really surprising as we have only met welcoming folks in our entire stay in France. The breakfast is definitely not something that one would pay 20 Euros each. The only tasty item on the table was their Cheese and mini Croissants Please eat some place else. read more

We had lunch here today 6/12. We were a little worried after seeing previous reviews. We had prompt service at our table to get a coffee order in. When our waiter brought us our coffee (Latte), we ordered our food. We had the Cod loin and backed chicken, we received our order in a reasonable amount of time. Our food was hot and fresh. Since we are from the states I would have like a larger portion, but what we did get was excellent. Since we were at Michel it as a tad expensive, but hey that is the going rate. Do not be dismayed. The restaurant had two employees serving everyone. They worked in the bar, cashing people out, bussing tables and also in the kitchen. We received our meal and asked five times for drinks. I was polite, as is tradition here, but others were being helped with a number of issues while our table was being passed over. I can't help that my parents speak English only, but just be respectful of what we ask and provide the service we asked for. The crepe I ordered could have had more mushrooms in it. I don't recall tasting any. However, I tasted my parents' mussels and they were to die for. When going to this restaurant please understand that it is more of a bar, and not a restaurant. As it is such, you will get the equivalent of the bar food here, not the pricey sit-down restaurants. read more

Absolutely horrible! We waited and waited and waited and never even got a menu to look at. We eventually just got up and left.

I was told by my uncle that if you go to the Mt. St Michel, you need to eat an omelette of La Mere Poulard because it's really famous in the region. I saw all the bad reviews online but decided to try for myself so as not to break his heart. I thought seriously how can you mess up an omelette? Well I was dead wrong. The omelette was tasteless, greasy and had this weird foam. I took a picture to memorialize this meal. The salad that came with it had a horseradish dressing. It was so strong I could not eat it and then even the fries were soggy and greasy. I can't recall ever having such a mediocre meal. I had the apple pie for desert which was good but it was because they didn't make it in house. This was not the main La Mere Poulard restaurant but a smaller affiliate. My friend and I had an amazing experience. We opted for the three course meal. ASBOLUTELY go with the fish soup, duck leg, and dessert of your choice. All of the desserts are probably good except for the last one, the last dessert on the menu is a french tradition to end your meal and it taste like apple smirnoff and two scoops of sherbert. Yeah. I didnt know, and my friend laughed the entire time. But i know its popular to get the omelette here. However, its overhyped. If you really want to try it, order the omelette and something else and sit it with your date/friend. Its just an omelette. Dont expect much. I got the lamb, and it was good. But my friend got the duck and it was SPOT ON. Both meats were cooked with perfection. Tender and seasoned beautifully. Also funny story, the waitor reccomended a specific wine that would be great with the items we ordered. However, they ran out of that wine! So the guy ran down the street to go buy some for us!! Ok so here is the deal, this restaurant was severely understaffed, and over priced for the quality of food and expect to wait about 40 minutes for your order to be put in. We had one waitress who was truly terrible and one other guy who had a great attitude but was just stretched way to thin. If I were to visit the island I would pack a lunch or at eat at a walk up. read more

This restaurant is extremely understaffed with extremely rude waiters. We waited 30 minutes before a waiter got to our table. We asked one question about the menu and the waiter lost their patience, yelled at us and went to another table. We were astounded considering how long we had already waited. We just got up and left. If you look at TripAdvisor they are ranked dead last in restaurants. I totally understand why. read more
