There are fights and stabbings that occur and at times its like a walk in the park depending on your attitude. One time a couple of deputies slam me on the floor and stab my leg with something the other time after a fight I got stabbed which is posted in my Keck review that attention and riot squad came quickly. The food gets to became the norm so taste does matter after a while some is actually pretty good. I was held there for a few days in 1968 until I was exonerated of all charges. Now, I am writing a book about my life and have forgotten a few details. Does anyone know if they had an underground garage that was used to load the inmates on, when they were transported to the court house, if we were allowed to wear our street clothes in the jail cells, and if the inmates were held in a private room in the courthouse before facing the judge, how many inmates they would allow in the court room at one time, if we were chained and/or handcuffed, during that time frame. I stayed At this Place and I gotta tell ya! It sucks. There was no hot water! The food was stale and there was no Room service! House keeping did not produce enough toiletries and the beds were very stiff. Place could use a paint job also. The staff there is very rude and they think they are funny but they're not. The guests were decent people except for a few A holes. I plan on writing a very heavily worded letter to management about the service. I won't be staying there again. read more

A lot has changed last ten years. In 2013 I was arrested for possession of heroin and served about a week before I was given a deferred judgment and released. I was placed in general population while in the throes of withdrawls. They did nothing for the symptoms. Fast forward to 2023 and by then I was using Fentanyl. I was arrested on a non drug related warrant, and shipped to county to serve 120 days. A week into my stay I was offered medical treatment for the horrible Fentanyl withdrawls. I was given Suboxone and Klonopin, and my captors became my deliverers. I was given a cell to myself while I was being treated. After the third day I was offered the Sublocade implant, which I immediately accepted. They arranged for my continued treatment after release, and I have been clean since. The staff was respecful, kind and compassionate. I was closely monitored by the medical staff. The CO's constantly offered encouragement and treated me like I was a human being. The amount of compassion and empathy I was shown was nothing less than shocking, considering my previous experience. If you are an addict and get arrested, PLEASE ASK FOR HELP. It is available for those who want it. It felt more like hard-core rehab than incarceration, and I will always be grateful. I was there for 5 months and a pretty bad charge and beign my first time ever on jail i hanged with the cops and staued away from the hispanics who thought they owned the place. I enjoyed my special diet for the celiac disease i have and the diabetes as well. I went to jail scared and i came out with stories of racism towards those who were classified as black or others by the hispanics, and stories on how homosexuality runs rampid with the straight inmates and how these closeted homosexuals mistreat the gay inmates. I was called a traitor to my race and i gave myself the name of snitch to deter any hooligan from getting to close to me. read more

I saw someone get the you know what beaten out of them and the place was on Lock down. Because it was on lock down, I got my stay extended. Upon arriving at this establishment the bell staff were incredibly rude. They were cursing "shut the fuck up!" and "sit the fuck down" and were being very verbally abusive while we were waiting to be taken to our room. It was a party of about 80 of us just trying to check in on a Friday night. They put all of us into a very small room. This was not our room. This was a room for us to wait in till we are taken to our room. There was no place to move or sit, just stand up crammed next to each other. Some would get tired and try to lay down but that just made it harder for the rest of the group trying not to step on each other. Someone passed out and started to have a seizure and when we buzzed the lobby they acted like they didn't care. We we're screaming at them, this guy might be dying! but still they laughed and thought we were joking. Finally, they saw we were serious and someone came in to help that person. We were in this room for 3 hours. From here they took us to another room. They told us our room still wasn't ready and that we need to shower and have different clothes on before we go into it. They said they would come back when the shower is ready. We waited for an hour. Then they came back and said, "ok, the shower is ready, everybody take off all your clothes. Once everybody's clothes are off you can all get out of this room." So everybody did it. Everybody was completely naked crammed together waiting. But it was a trick they played on us. They just wanted us to have to wait naked next to each other I guess. I had a feeling something was up and had already complained to the management and told them I'd be leaving this review. So I kept my underwear on. But everybody was naked and impatient and tired. Then the air conditioning turned on. Some tried to put their clothes back on but others said, "No! we won't be able to leave this room if they see you with your clothes on!" So everyone waited and shivered. Finally they came and let us out of the room. We still did not finally get to our room until another 9 hours later. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I think the Better Business Bureau or somebody should seriously look into this place. read more

This place is awful. The facility is old and dirty and inmates are constantly mistreated. They are deprived of vitamin D and if they work on the day off that their tear has the ability to go to the roof, they are not given a chance to see the sun AT ALL. Visitation is slow and officers make it very clear they do not care about the situation visitors are going through and don't care if you have to wait three hours for a thirty minute visit. I went to visit the jail as a volunteer with the STOPP program (Society To Offer Prosperity & Peace). Stopp Hunger-start sharing,, Stopp Hate -start loveing, Stop violence -Start Forgiving. STOPP represents a move in a new direction that focuses on rehabilitation and addressing the root problems of crime. There is free parking for the volunteers at county jail. Lots of sheriff vehicles are parked along the entrance and on patrols. Once inside you see a spotless clean entrance. From here you are directed towards a long hallway and then your ID is screened and you are given a visitor ID. Once you pass this stage you are in electrically locked doors. I was escorted and shown the cafeteria, got the food and its free for volunteers and staff. This was the best tasting food I have had in years. The whole place had shiny floors and was spotless. All the people working here were friendly. Then proceeded to a huge school that was built by Sheriff Baca to teach construction to the prisoners. Then saw the huge church. Then was taken to solitary cells and these are locked rooms talked to the prisoners inside one of them actually prayed for us he thanked us for coming in to visit him. Met a lot of prisoners who were very happy in this facility, were well fed and were being observed by very friendly officers. I came back very impressed by the facilities provided to prisoners in the jail , they also had a hospital floor inside. read more

This place is terrible. I do not recommend getting arrested. They degrade human beings, the food is inedible and the water is horrible. The showers are generally cold. If you do go here I recommend pretending to have psychiatric or severe medical issues, but your stay will still be extremely uncomfortable. Their idea of programming is making the inmates watch tv. Very few productive things happen here. Jail does not rehabilitate anyone. Most of the population has drug problems. Treatment centers would be more affordable and more productive for the county and the detainees. read more

YOU HAVE TO BE THERE ONE HOUR BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT NO EXCEPTIONS! My appointment was at 9am i got there at 8:30 they did not let me go in. So next time when i booked a visit i made it for 10am and i was there at 8:30am because I wasn't going to give them another reason to not let me in. The process was a little longer than expected. Once you get into the building right in front of you there are couple of desks you have to grab a the check-in paper and a pen write your information and follow the line once it's your turn to walk up to the deputy you HAVE TO HAVE A VALID ID or PASSPORT you give them the paper you filled out if it's your first time visiting the facility they take a picture of you!!!! Once you check in you sit and wait until they call the name of the inmate you are visiting once you get called you go through another check point that's where the deputies tell you which aisle and window number you are for example (F1) once you walk into the visit room the inmate is already there waiting for you! **KEEP IN MIND THAT THE VISIT IS THROUGH THE WINDOW ONLY** UNLESS YOU BOOKED A VIDEO VISIT THAT'S I THINK NOT AS GOOD AS FACE TO FACE. The only other county jail I have been to is oc and I gotta say this takes the cake. Was here about a year ago on a pretty serious charge. Got it reduced to 90 days here which I spent 13 days of hell. I think for me it was the food. I lost 20 pounds over 13 days of malnutrition no sunlight and terrible water. Don't ever come here anyone reading this. I am a very non violent person but ended up with the kind of people you just don't want to be with. None the less I stayed myself and gained somewhat "respect" from others this is no place I want to go back to. If it wasn't for my "street smarts" who knows how this would of gone. This place is the best. Overall good service, food's decent, good place to stay for a couple months if you're looking for economy pricing. Actually, its free so that's nice. All you have to do is break the law and they'll take you here COMPLETELY FREE! Only thing is is that most of the accommodations are long-term. Having been a guest for a weekend (out of 30 days sentenced) not very long ago I can share the following review. Note: Your experience may be different. On the negative side: 1) Super crowded. like 50 people crammed into a 10 x 15 room while waiting to get processed in. 2) All the things that go along with severe overcrowding anywhere which include dirty toilets, trash everywhere, cranky people, and some serious B.O. 3) Noise, noise and more noise. Everything from a PA system that never stays quiet to people taking all night. 4) Constant moving from one tank to another. It will take you 24 hrs to get from remanding yourself at court to getting your own bunk. This is no exaggeration. On the plus side: 1) It is not the state penn. When you consider how much worse things can be doing a quick stint on County is a walk in the park. Like with life on the outside, if you mind your own, show some basic courtesy, and not act stupid, you stand a 99% chance no one will fuck with you and thus you will be OK. 2) You will actually gain weight, lol. At every turn you will get fed something. From PBnJ, to Juanitas type frozen burritos (warmed of course), to cereal with milk and OJ in the AM. Still got the munchies? Well you actually can get seconds! If you are a regular, you know you can get snacks from the vending machine. Of course, only if you got money on your books. 3) Last but not least. The best part is that unless you are in for something serious (read: VIOLENT crime) you will do a cool 10% of whatever the court gave you. 30 days = 3 days in reality. Judge gave you 6 months? You'll be out in three weeks. Not a bad deal! Don't forget, in there the "enemy" is the deps, not your fellow cellmates. Unless you are a total idiot you will get a good understanding of the house rules. You will go through a sort of "orientation" by your group leader (Paisa, Homie, Wood, Brother, or 'other'). Choose the the category you belong in, say hello to your new friends, ask questions, enjoy the ride! read more

To all those worried souls, out there, reviews are a bit outdated. Not sure if someone or something was looking out for me, but here's my story sentenced: 180 days surrendered, went through some standard procedure, waiting in a cell, going from cell to cell, questioned, (making sure you are who you say you are) medical history... and then searching, stripping, exchanging your clothes for the county's showering, and then sitting in another holding tank. for me this whole process took about 12 hours. I came in at 6pm. at about 8am the next morning (there aren't any clocks anywhere) woke us up, handcuffed to up to three other inmates. (oh forgot to mention, segregation is real, if you're mexican or white, you want to go homie, paisas, or wood. If you're none of the above, It's Black and others for you). anyways cuffed up to people of your race, and i was put on a bus and shipped to wayside AKA supermax AKA NCCF. of the above stay, i did not witness any police brutality but if a cop dosn't like your attitude, he'll make you wait longer for food or if you're being released and you mess up when they call your name, if they're butts they'll send you back into the holding tank. anyways. 16 days at wayside, i was rolled up. sent back. i thought i was going home so i stupidly gave away all my things. food, clothes, hygiene.... at least this time i got on the bus immediately... got back to LA county jail at about 9pmish. but guess what. sat in a friggin tank till 9 the next day. 24 hours in a holding tank with nothing but metal benches, a small toilet and sink, and other bodies. of course they feed you but theres nothing but PB&J sandwiches. not fun. moved me to a EBI dorm/cell place, each place has about 20? cells each cell containing 2 inmates. 10x3 room with a two inch wide window. you have the dayroom from morning till about 8pm. with lockdowns during count,... pretty much after lunch and then at 8pm. things to do: talk to other inmates, play cards, chess, checkers, dominoes, depends. eat. sleep. sometimes they have the paper, watch tv. read books... Food: breakfast, lunch are cold, dinner is always a hot meal. breakfast. usually combination of PB&J sandwiches, eggs, banana, cereal, and milk, lunch: combination of Bologna sandwich, fritos or lays, cookies, doughnut, carrots trail mix. dinner: anything is possible. usually tastes like crap but hey it's hot. during the week, different days represent different things... blues exchange, where they give you extra clothes and ect... yard... ect. in my stay, again, not sure if i'm lucky or someone/something's looking out for me, but i saw no violence here. rule of thumb, be smart, don't insult anyone, if you're offended by something, try laughing it off, IF IT DOSN'T BELONG TO YOU DON'T TOUCH IT. even if its just laying out on a table in the day room. dont bet or gamble anything unless you're going to keep your word. mind your own business and they'll generally do the same. how long the release process took for me: three hours. worst things about this place: the water (tastes like crap), lack of hygiene (no floss), the waiting. see NCCF for my stay there read more

The food is to die for, can anyone say, yummy? My favorite are the deserts I always alternate on tues and thurs between the Ny style chesecake topped with fresh strawberries, and the chocolate mousse', to die for. Its like having a party in your mouth. Scrumptious.. The guards are the nicest bunch of guys you could ever meet. They help the inmates with how to present yourself by insuring everyone's got their shirts tucked in when going to the formal dining room. And I was very impressed with the level of education the guards have, Each guard that i spoke to had at least a masters and some had PHD's. Its a true testament to the dedication these guys have in the rehabilitation process, I know for me, there's no other jail i would rather be than LA County Twin Towers. Why go any place else. And if you have a chance, you must take the bus ride from Central California all the way to LA County, it's a trip you'll not soon forget. You get to see California like you've never seen. They make sure to take the scenic route and there are plenty of stops along the way to ensure you have the opportunity to pick up souvenirs along the way to send back to the folks back home. And the sound system on the bus is for the discerning audiophile, and their choice of ambient music is to sooth the inmates and prepare them for the long journey ahead. And the company is top notch, they make sure that everyone has something in common as you traverse through the country side of california to your destination. Its a pleasure to have travel companions who are specially picked to share your journey with. I have to say, the trip should be on everyones bucket list, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity you don't want to miss. read more
