What a horrible place. When I first got there to surrender myself, they had me waiting 3 hours until I finally got arrested and taken in. After getting in, they moved me into a cell with about 20 gangbangers for 4 hours. Finally they started calling names to take our finger prints and moved us into another cell, where we had to strip down butt naked and put all of our clothes in a bag. We waited a couple more minutes, then they walked us to the showers.
After taking a shower and putting on our raggedy prison clothes, we were walked into yet another cell to wait. Finally 5 hours later they started calling us, only to move us to wait in ANOTHER cell. The only food we were given were peanut butter and jelly sandwhiches and cookies.
After a sleepless 20 hours, moving from cell to cell each filled with a dozen scary ass looking people, We FINALLY got called into the main housing, where we got a bunk bed.
I thought the people in the holding cells looked scary, the guys in the main housing look like guys you'd see in a national geographic magazine. Gang tattoos fully covering their faces and bodys. There were 4 groups and 4 leaders here. The southsiders (white guys), homies (mexicans), brothers (blacks), and paisas (spanish speaking only mexicans). And each leader looks like a cold blooded murderer.
While in here, I was hit up numerous times from people asking, "where you from?" Each time I told them homies, since they're the group I'm closest to, being an english-only speaking mexican. I spent most of the time on my bunk trying to sleep.
20 more hours later, they finally called my name to get released. I only served 2 days on a 10 day sentence for driving with a suspended license, which was awesome news. While waiting for them to take us out, all these sleazy gang bangers asked for everythiing that I had, (shampoo, soap, shaving razor, blankets, trade my clean pants for his dirty pants, ect.) which was no problem since I thought I'd be getting released right there. I couldn't have been more wrong.
So there I am, about to be released, wearing some stinky pants that smell like sweaty balls, sitting in yet another tiny cell for 3 hours with 20 other guys who smell just as bad.
Finally they start bringing our clothes over and calling our names. It felt so good to be in my clothes and out of that nasty smelling cell. We then got moved to another cell to wait another 2 hours. Then they got us in line to pick up our belongings (belts, wallets, cell phones, etc.) and then walked us out of the jail.
It was 4am when I got outside and felt that liberating fresh air on my sweaty face. If you don't have a ride, don't worry because there are around 4 guys who stand outside offering taxi service in their beat-ass civics and dodge neons. They wanted $40, but I told them all I had was $20. They accepted my offer and gave me a ride home, where I immediately showered and ordered pizza from a 24/7 pizza place.
Overall the experience was horrible and I hope to never have to go back to county jail. read more
