Spending my summer vacations in the 90s here is one of my fondest memories. I came back recently after too long a hiatus from reading and the nostalgic feeling I got from entering gave me an extra thrill to delve back into the different worlds found in books. The librarians I encountered were incredibly helpful and was patient with me as the library world has changed a bit for me. The library itself was clean and orderly. How do you review a library?? But I read they just got rid of late fees, so I am back! The kiddo is getting into reading, so we're here for the piles of books this summer. The app makes it easy to reserve online and pick up. This location is not fancy, I know some Long Beach or Cerritos locations are like playgrounds or museums. To the lady from the initial post; I don't know if this is the same security guard but around a month ago. We visited the establishment and witnessed something similar. We were waiting in line to check out and he was making remarks aimed at visitors. I asked who the manager was and found out it was the lady who sits in the back whom we've interacted pleasantly with numerous times before. We ultimately decided to not say anything because we did not want it to be a reflection on all of the good and honest people that work there. It's a great place to visit! read more

It doesn't look like a library from the street but there is small signs leading you to there but the signs are so small! Literally have to look this place up or you will miss it. They should have bigger better advertising because I've driven past this place a bunch of times and never seem to see it as I've seen it today. LOL. Anyways, I went in, good parking, and lots of open computers to use! Bluetooth printing from your phone and I seen some females playing uno! Wow! That was different. This location has great library staff. They are all nice and helpful. However, the disturbances from the mentally ill can be a bit distracting. Otherwise, this would a five star review. I understand this is a public library, but public places are becoming more unpleasent and dangerous due to the erratic behavior of mentally ill. read more

I'm here mainly to review their Used Bookstore which is located within the library. This Used Bookstore is amazing if you come and visit every so often (I try coming at least three times a year) because it is extremely cheap. I always get angry at myself whenever I end up buying books on Amazon before trying to check out the used bookstores at public libraries (which are a great source for cheap books -- and you're supporting your local library!). During this visit, I was able to purchase the following books (all paperback) for a total of $2.50: - Me Before You by Jojo Meyes - Eat, Pray, Love - Lilac Girls (I just recently saw this title at Costco a few months back) - Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn? - Room (it was in such great condition, too). How cheap is that!?! You definitely can't beat those prices. read more

Awesome library! Can get a lot of work done because it's a "real" library. The other ones that I've been to, have rude people talking loud (and on their cell phones), kids running around like it's a playground (and yes, their parent(s) are there) and librarians turning a blind eye and ear?! to all of this. Great little library! This library has plenty of parking so you should be able to find a spot quick. The library card for this library is for Los Angeles County. If you need to use the restroom, tell the front desk and you'll buzz you in when you push on the door. The internet needs your library user name and password in order to use it. The internet is super fast. There's plenty of tables and work stations. I wish there were plugs for the tables but you'll need to find a small work station for that. Overall, take a look at this library. read more

The best thing at the Iacoboni library is the staff. I asked about finding county libraries with study rooms for my study group to use. The librarian called the county library administration staff while I waited and had them put together a list (this list wasn't even available for the staff when I asked). They emailed it to me. (+2) OK. now the bummers: #1 there aren't enough seats #'s 2-5 using the free computer terminals requires a person to either make an on-line computer reservation ahead of time, or tolerate the mandatory 15-minute-user-alloted-computer-access-automatic-logout. ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH! That is redunculous. So every 15 minutes I would be automatically booted off the system and had to start over from scratch -- enter my library number, type -in my password, and then click thru a bunch of tabs and links. no way. never a- g- a- i- n I'll opt for a long drive if needed for web-access. But again, the staff. wow. love 'em. (+2) read more

Being a person who doesn't like to buy books too often because I rarely read a book more than once, I love the Library. It helps feed my reading curiosity without putting a damper on my wallet. That is, except for the more than occasional overdue book charge now and again. This library, in particular, I have been going to since I was in the third grade. However, I never realized the true "amazingness" of this library until recently. Note: I don't spend much time in the library. I'm not one of those people who study in a library, so no need for quiet. I would probably go crazy in the library, not enough distractions for me. But getting back onto the subject matter on hand, I come here for my book fix. I love that this library is linked up to many other libraries in Los Angeles county. Therefore, if they don't have a book at this particular location, it's easy to get it from another. All I simply need to do is log onto the website, search for my book, and then place it on hold. They send me an e-mail when my book is ready to be picked up, and I can stop by the library at any time to pick-up the book with not a lot of time wasted on my part trying to search the rows and rows of books for one I want. read more

The Angelo M. Iacoboni Library is long "OVERDUE" for some recognition. My local library is a great place to do more than just check out books. They have Cd's, movies to rent, and local community activities & reading time with the youngsters.. I find the staff to be of all ages and extremely knowledgeable to and friendly. I even had a situation where I lost a paperback book and was ready to pay the 10.00 fee to replace it when Carolynn let me donate some paperbacks in replacement. All my love and trust is restored in the library. Don't judge a library by it's cover, come inside, and see for yourself what everyone's reading and talking about. This is an ok location. Parking is ok: staff is a bit dull and their customer service needs work: not a place I would come often.

I love this library - the staff are like family. Kelly is a rockstar when it comes to gracious service!

Ok, this library has some issues. But gets what i need done, DONE. The service here isnt the greatest. I couldnt find something, and they just point and say "Its that way", pointing to 5 different shelves it could be on, guessing that i would find it on my own. They do have a good music and dvd selection. Kid section can get a bit loud, so if you are trying to study i can see that as a problem. I did see a tutor with some kids. Looks like they do individual homework studying and things like that. I would think it would be hard for a child to concentrate when you have a 2 year old yelling and screaming. When i was there last, a small child was having a fit because they were leaving, and she screamed her head off all the way out the door, and beyond. It was ridiculous. For now, i will continue to go to Cerritos Library. better staff, bigger areas. read more

Awesome library awesome staff. I wish I could live here. Other than the homeless people who tend to take the same seats and can get territorial about it they do not cause any problems. The library is usually quiet and offers a great place for studying , charging your devices one hour computer time ( 2 max but you have to re- sign in ) To use the computers you need to sign it at the librarian desk in the center of the library ( not the front check out desk ) There is a computer there that you can scan or type in your library card and pin. The computer assists you a desk with a number. The numbers are printed in large numbers on the side. It is now reserved for you. Go to it , if no one is already using it , and sign in. If someone is using it wait your turn. If you have any questions you can always ask the librarian on duty at the center desk. You can print up too 10 pages a day for free. On Fridays they offer movie night and during the week after school they offer workshops for kids. You can check out books and DVDS as well. One of my favorite places to study. read more

My hometown library lacks caring personnel. If you have a question at the reference desk, they will help you, but it always seems as though they are only doing so to begrudgingly. The great thing about this library is that it is in the Los Angeles county system and you can find and request whatever you need. The sad thing, the most ghetto places in San Jose have better libraries than the best places in LA county. If it were not for the worse than indifferent service, this place would rank 3 stars. Oh, I do have one person there that would always help and go the extra mile and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. WiFi is crazy slow, so slow that I could not work on anything while at the library. It is better to tether my cell than use their wifi. read more

A decent public library for general purposes but my only complaints are the chronic porn watchers in the computer lab area and the noise level of the children's section. During my LSAT studies, I embarked upon a bit of a library odyssey in search of an ideal spot to prepare for this endeavor - this library being one such pit stop. Some days, particularly later in the week, I find the library to be quieter and consequently, easier to concentrate. Earlier in the week, however, especially mornings, the library is filled with children participating in Story Time, and LOUDLY if I might add, mothers browsing the shelves with their fussy babies in strollers, and by the afternoon, teens and tweens crowd the place playing practical jokes on each other or meeting with an afterschool tutor. And the way this library is laid out, you can hear all of this occurring around you. It drove me nuts at first, especially having to sit through impersonations of all those goddamn creatures on Old McDonald's farm, but once I got accustomed to the routine of this library and my study habits, I found it bearable. read more

Love this library. So big, organized, and thousands of books to choose from. Only complaint is that the staff is often unfriendly or just seem like they don't want to be there. Other than that, I love this place and will continue to go to this library. read more

The Lakewood library is a small library with a pretty good selection of scholarly and non-scholarly books. It's quiet, in contrast to the bustle of kids at the Cerritos Library, and it actually has materials you can use for your highschool AP research paper. I don't think they will have the newest books around even after the renovation because of small funding in comparison to the Cerritos, but the quality of research here is much better. If you are patient with the old computers for looking up books and like to read/study quietly and independently or maybe with one other person then this place is a charm. read more

I like coming here when I need to prepare for an exam and/or interview. I have never needed the assistance of staff, but I have observed how gracious they are with other customers. I agree with another rater, the same homeless people occupy certain areas ALL day long. Extremely territorial! The library needs a serious electrical and décor upgrade. There are not enough outlets to plug in. I am willing to be a part of the fundraising campaign. Just let me know when it starts. read more

Great place to come and study. Nice and quiet atmosphere. The only thing that I don't like about coming to this library is the WiFi. It is such a pain to login. I just spend at least 15 minutes just trying to connect to the WiFi. Luckily I have all my important files stored offline, so it's not a big deal. Just wish it was a lot easier to login. Other than that, great place to come and read, study, and chill. read more

Staff and service is great here and there's plenty of open space and study cubbies to choose from to get down to business. Wifi here however is is terrible as it takes several minutes to bring up even just the Google homepage! Lighting is good and patrons are respectful and mindful of others working in close proximity. I asked for assistance on a few different occasions to get the wifi going and the staff gave it their honest try but to no avail each time. Luckily, I can tether on my smartphone. All in all a great place to hunker down and study or get work done. read more

First time here. Books placed on hold are in a designated area. Quiet and easy to find.

I went here a couple of times before I couldn't stand it anymore. There just isn't enough seating, there aren't a vast selection of books, and even though it's a small library, it's a bit hard to find certain books. I've also looked through the children's section, and it was impossible to find what I was looking for. But there's plenty of parking.... read more

I wish j could give this library a better review but the wifi is terrible. They offer a decent amount of book selections, the workers are very nice and helpful, and they have plenty of seating. But, on Sundays when I am looking to find a place where I can work and avoid all the crowds and busy-ness of Starbucks and Panera's, I just want to come here but I can't connect to the Internet on my pc. read more

This is a great library. Great selection of books. All the staff are knowledgeable and most of them are nice. My only concern is that the kids section is super loud. I understand they are kids...but I feel like if the children are getting loud...an employee should give a friendly reminder to the parent/guardian to keep their childrens voice level down. read more

This is a nice little library, but I thought the people who worked there need a little work on their service skills. The person who helped me was a little short with her answers, not at all friendly, and grew impatient when I asked a question. I literally took a whole minute to complete my transaction so it certainly wasn't like I was there forever. She further got irritated when my 5 year old son couldn't sign the application. read more

The library is great. But I feel bad about paying $42 fine. I borrowed 11 books and I was told that they're all due in 3 weeks. I have the fault of not checking the receipt and that 3 of them are for 1 week only.I returned them yesterday. I was surprised i got a notice that I have a fine. I called, spoke to the superviser and she wasn't nice about it. She said she was sorry I assumed that it's for 3 weeks...well, I didn't assume, I was told that. Well, I guess I have to learn my lesson the hard way:) read more
