How fun!…read more My cousin celebrated her 40th birthday here, and I never got an exact answer as to how she came about renting out the Women's Twentieth Century Club located in the heart of Eagle Rock on Colorado Blvd. For all the time I've spent in Eagle Rock enjoying the many places to eat and visiting friends (I've even eaten at Colombo's Italian Steakhouse and Jazz across the street, and the taco trunk next door in the gas station parking lot), I always thought this was simply a house. Oh no, my friends, apparently, it's more than that! The Women's Twentieth Century Club of Eagle Rock was founded in the late 1890s, and this facility was built in the early 1910s. The Craftsman style structure is still beautiful today, and upon further review and survey of the neighborhood, truly stands out among the other homes along Hermosa Ave. You would expect this to actually be located in the older neighborhoods in Pasadena with the rest of the glorious Craftsman's. As you walk up the steps and approach the spacious porch area, you head towards the front door and instantly notice how it opens up to an auditorium with ample floor space and a stage, reminiscent of where a town hall meeting would take place in those old movies from the 20s and 30s. The high ceilings lend even more to the amount of openness found in this room. Other areas to point out are the alcove or what appeared like a separate sitting area, the full kitchen, a waiting area of sorts upon entering into the building, a small bathroom, and an outdoor area for more seating. I don't know the rental rates, restrictions, or payment method, but I'm sure you can find such information here at their official website: www.wtcc-er.org/ For this particular event, there were no facility-specific individuals as you would expect at an actual banquet hall. So, your service is whomever you hire or bring along. Parking is relatively ample as there is plenty of side-street parking everywhere. You also have Colorado Blvd., but I can't remember if there are any meters. Lastly, they do have their own minimal parking, but I recommend hitting the street parking instead. Overall, I thought the Women's Twentieth Century Club was a pretty cool building based on the historical factor alone. I'm a born-and-raised Angeleno and whenever I come across hidden nuggets of this great city of mine, it always makes me proud that someone has taken the initiative and effort to try and preserve them for future generations. I can't say for sure whether or not I would rent out this place for an event of my own, but I can certainly say that I appreciate knowing that there is such an option available. I think others should take a look and maybe add this as an option to their list, too! A 3 1/2 stars for me!

In short, I would recommend it for nearly any event with 30+ guests looking for a clean and casual spot to meet or celebrate. Details: What you get is a large open hall with high ceilings, clean restrooms, a sound system, a projector and screen, and a stage. A small kitchen area has a sink and refrigerator that comes in handy if you're hosting a party. The bright lighting can be turned off and substituted with twinkle lights to set a comfortable mood. On one side, there is a room with dozens of rectangular and round tables and chairs hanging on wheeled racks that can easily be rolled out for setup and cleanup. With the right amount of décor, the hall can be dressed up for a semi-formal event like a holiday party. The volunteer staff are all extremely friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. Notes: * Parking is limited, and most guests will have to park on the street or in a lot a short walk away. * The venue is tucked away behind a fire station and next to a baseball field. Make sure to let your guests know how to find it, or perhaps tie a few balloons by the entrance of the driveway. * Bring table covers. The getting ready area upstairs is beautiful and very spacious as well. We had about 65 guests - the max for the venue is 120, but I think it would be pretty crowded at that number. For 65 it was perfect. We had access to the venue the day before for set-up and rehearsal which was super helpful, and we and our coordinator had a very easy time working with the groundskeeper for day-of logistics. The 3D tour on the website is very accurate and helped us a lot when planning between site visits. I definitely recommend Shakespeare Club for your small to medium size events and weddings!

The main reason we chose Palladio, and the reason we always choose Palladio, even for our home catering events, which they also do, is because the food is absolutely top-tier amazing. We are all very big foodies and the food served by the hall makes a really big difference for us. The food is always perfection, the crab salad is my absolutely everything on this planet. The ice cream that they bring at the end is always a hit with my guests. There was definitely plenty of space for everyone there including a separate stage for the DJ, private seating for the couple and a separate area for the bar. Lots of room for dancing as well. The venue made sure we had lots of room to move around. The staff was mindful about picking up dirty dishes and utensils. They were also excellent at making sure we had plenty of water to go around. When we made requests for extras (butter, bread, etc.) they were delivered quickly. It was perfect for their intimate wedding for a party of about 150. PARKING: If you arrive early enough like I did, you'd be lucky to find street parking right up front. Otherwise, it's valet parking at $15.
