I had a relatively good time taking a cardio dance class here! I visited this fitness studio on a Saturday morning and it was packed! Walking-in, the music was loudly playing and the interior had a party type of vibe. Thankfully there were ear plugs available for purchase. Checking-in was a bit difficult since it was hard for me to hear the receptionist due to the loud music. She was also wasn't the most friendly or welcoming which didn't make me feel great. I also needed to use the bathroom and her directions weren't very clear, so I had to ask her where to locate it a couple of times. I ended up using the bathroom at a nearby spa which I'm not sure if that's the bathroom she was referring to. There were lots of cubbies to store my stuff before taking the class which was nice. The age demographic of the participants was on the higher side, but everyone seemed so energetic. The instructor was also fun and lively. I liked her hip-hop style choreography which was full of energy and grooves. I was impressed that she was able to dance with so much energy for an hour straight. I overall enjoyed the music selection and choreography of the class. Overall, a decent experience here. Since it was my first time, I was able to get into this class for $15. Otherwise it would be $30 which I think is a bit pricey compared to regular dance classes in LA that go for 1 hour and 30 minutes for around $20. However, I do recognize this could be the standard for these types of classes. I wouldn't go out of my way to do this again, but would be possibly down if someone invited me. More of a preference, but I would feel more comfortable taking classes like these with people closer to my age demographic.

Truly one of the most welcoming studios I've ever been to as well - it's the fastest I've made new dance friends at a studio before and the staff is so nice. I signed up online via a link from their Instagram and the website was pretty user friendly and I was able to get registered for the class I wanted. No sweat. Looking for parking can be tough as it's street parking only, so I came a bit early to ensure I was able to get a spot. Walking in, the interior was pretty cozy and it was smaller compared to other studios I've been to in LA, but not a bad thing at all! The person working the front greeted me and I told her it was my first time so she gave me a rundown of how the studio works. I appreciate the great customer service! They have a full front mirror, cubbies to store your belongings, a clean bathroom, and an ipad up front to sign in. The class was comfortable since there were people of different dance levels so it's not intimidating. I also liked that it wasn't crowded. The classes usually last for 1 hour and 30 min. I would definitely take a class here again in the future.

While WLAD is traditionally a studio for kids, I love that they offer tap, jazz, hip-hop, and ballet exclusively for adults, and in a completely non-judgmental environment (Heavy on the non-judgmental - EVERYONE is welcome, even if you're a total novice!). She created an intimate, calming atmosphere that began with a guided meditation, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The small class size made it personal and comfortable, allowing everyone to dive right into the creative process without pressure or judgment. Elina's warm, kind energy as a host made the experience exceptional. Surrounded by blankets and pillows, we could disconnect from the outside world and fully immerse ourselves in painting, which felt like a therapeutic journey. Ms. Emily has the biggest heart and is a complete natural at interacting with children so young. At the beginning of the session, when my daughter had just turned 2, she had a lot of trouble focusing on her teacher and following instructions - which I learned is completely okay. Over time, her ability to focus improved and she would look forward to her ballet and tap class every weekend. Her favorite part was when Ms. Emily would give a sticker or glitter at the end of class. I loved watching how happy she was in class and how much she talked about it afterwards. Sadly, due to the COVID situation, the studio has been closed for the last two months and our routine has been disrupted. We're really hopeful that the situation improves in Los Angeles and we can find a way to have the class back in a safe way. We can't wait to be back! P.S. Funny story.. I was SO excited to put my (then) 2 year old in a mommy & me ballet class that I read the class instructions very carefully... the dress code was fairly specific (a certain color leotard, tights, ballet slippers etc). So I thought the moms were supposed to dress up just like their daughters. First class ever, I showed up in full leotard and tights to dance with my girl! After that, I realized the moms come in regular clothes so I was careful to dress appropriately from then on. Just a tip for other moms enrolling in the mommy & me class!

We dance across multiple groups--I used to train in the same class with one of my daughters, my oldest daughter is currently in another group, and my younger one attends every Sunday. We buy a lot of classes here. We were actually planning to buy even more, despite the fact that their system is completely inflexible: there are no memberships, no discounts, and the classes are quite expensive. We stayed because we truly love the instructors and the overall dance level. However, the way they treat parents is absolutely unacceptable. I am beyond frustrated by the fact that I am not allowed to use the restroom while waiting for my child. They have a restroom accessible from the courtyard. I can understand that they don't provide parking spaces for waiting parents, but not letting a parent use the restroom during a 1.5 to 2-hour wait is beyond comprehension. This is the second time I have been practically kicked out of the restroom, treated with such a look as if I were a homeless person off the street. As a paying customer, I find this incredibly rude, humiliating, and disrespectful. This is an absolute failure in customer service.I work as a professional film actress and model, so I have extensive experience visiting high-end studios and various locations worldwide. In most reputable places, parents are welcomed inside; they are provided with a waiting area, Wi-Fi, water, or at least a place to sit. At Playground LA, you aren't even allowed basic human dignity like using the bathroom. For a studio of this caliber, this level of service is wild and completely unacceptable. I am deeply disappointed.
