I love when she gets so excited that she literally starts screaming because someone in class is going off. She celebrates people constantly, by name or even just noticing something they're rocking like, "Yes, GREEN JUMPSUIT!" Being the only guy in the class, I've never once felt isolated, judged, or uncomfortable about assumptions people might make about me. I've only ever felt celebrated. It was refreshing not having to navigate that in a public place. She encourages fluidity in whatever way feels right for you, whether it's super masc, super feminine, or somewhere in between. Her focus is helping you connect to your artistic dance spirit, and that's when you know you're doing it right. She also celebrates neurodiversity and really focuses on what the strengths are within that, while also helping people navigate certain challenges. Karma's class is more than just learning choreography. Watching her dance is witnessing powerful, raw, and inspiring artistry. When she demos, it honestly feels like a mini performance during class. Then when she dances with us right after, you feel like this epic backup dancer, and it inspires new moves and articulations within you. There's also a strong sense of community in Karma's class. She's built a culture where you not only bring self-love to the class, but appreciation and love for the people dancing alongside you. Someone might be doing a twerk, an offbeat wild move on their chair, or some epic crawl across the floor, and the whole class erupts with roaring encouragement. Karma encourages asking questions about the dance moves and routines. She absolutely loves them. I took a Hip Hop 1-2 class with LaShawn and loved it! She had great energy and challenged us to push ourselves. I also appreciated her focus on hip hop fundamentals like popping and waving as part of our warmup. While I enjoyed the class, I think it would have been intimidating if it was my first time setting foot in a dance studio. I would encourage the front desk employees to greet first time visitors and give them a brief rundown of the space, where to place your belongings, what to expect from class, etc. A lot of the people in the class seemed to know each other already which just shows you how popular these classes are. I had a relatively good time taking a cardio dance class here! I visited this fitness studio on a Saturday morning and it was packed! Walking-in, the music was loudly playing and the interior had a party type of vibe. Thankfully there were ear plugs available for purchase. Checking-in was a bit difficult since it was hard for me to hear the receptionist due to the loud music. She was also wasn't the most friendly or welcoming which didn't make me feel great. I also needed to use the bathroom and her directions weren't very clear, so I had to ask her where to locate it a couple of times. I ended up using the bathroom at a nearby spa which I'm not sure if that's the bathroom she was referring to. There were lots of cubbies to store my stuff before taking the class which was nice. The age demographic of the participants was on the higher side, but everyone seemed so energetic. The instructor was also fun and lively. I liked her hip-hop style choreography which was full of energy and grooves. I was impressed that she was able to dance with so much energy for an hour straight. I overall enjoyed the music selection and choreography of the class. Overall, a decent experience here. Since it was my first time, I was able to get into this class for $15. Otherwise it would be $30 which I think is a bit pricey compared to regular dance classes in LA that go for 1 hour and 30 minutes for around $20. However, I do recognize this could be the standard for these types of classes. I wouldn't go out of my way to do this again, but would be possibly down if someone invited me. More of a preference, but I would feel more comfortable taking classes like these with people closer to my age demographic. read more

I'm always switching up my workouts. To cycling, yoga, crossfit and now Zumba! I was searching for a dance studio that offers Zumba. I came accords LA DanceFit Studio. Not only do they offer Zumba classes, but they offer 1 comp class. I love this offer because you get to "test it" out before investing. I easily signed up for a comp class. Parking was a bit tricky as it is only street parking really. If I remember, they do have maybe 2/3 spots located in the back, but those were takin. When I walked in, I was greeted by a nice gentleman who walked me to the second level. He let me know to go at my own pace and to just have fun. I'm glad he gave me this tip as I've only done Zumba once before years ago. There was a good amount of people taking the class. The studio was big enough for everyone to spread out and move about. The instructor started us with a warm up and then we got into it. The music was great and the energy in the room was everything. It was a great workout and I felt really good afterwards. I've taken Hip Hop and Zumba classes at LA Dance Fit and overall, I had a great experience. The dance instructors are very talented, have a lot of energy, and make the classes fun. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five, is the lack of ventilation on the dance floor. The classes can get crowded, and in the summertime especially, it would help to have more fans spread across the room or even ceiling fans so it wont be as hot and stuffy. I've been going to this studio for years and it's such a lovely place! They have such a variety of classes and a great selection to choose from. I've taken everything from jazz to hip hop to contemporary to Bollywood to heels. I love that they have classes both day and night to fit my schedule. The teachers are all fantastic and do a great job of breaking down moves yet still make it challenging enough for seasoned pros. LA DanceFit is an amazing studio! I've been going for years and have always liked the Cardio Hip Hop classes. The instructors have great energy and I end up feeling pretty pumped after the dance sessions. I also like the follow along classes so it's a good way to decompress. I recently took Cardio Hip Hop with Jerod and he was so fun and upbeat. His playlist felt like a good mix of clubbing and empowerment jams. The time flies by and it gets pretty sweaty in there. Honestly one of my favorite dance studios, and would recommend it especially for beginner/ intermediate level dancers! The classes they offer range from heels to cardio hip hop. Their beginner classes are actually beginner-friendly (not intimidating like some other studios in LA) and the instructors are all friendly. They also have "Dance Teams" each year where students can sign up to perform in a showcase! I did the heels team with Federica this past year and it was a lot of fun. The heels class I took with Federica on a Saturday was awesome. She's a wonderful teacher, but be mindful that this is a Heels 1/2 class so you have to have basic dance skills and/or talent for retaining choreography to keep up in this class. The parking is really easy with paid parking all long the street. It's a two-story studio with classes going on simultaneously. There is sound bleed from the other studio, but once the music is on in your studio, you won't notice it. The studio floor does look and feel a little dirty and the front desk woman was a little cold to me, but other than that, this studio has lots of offerings with what appears to be great, welcoming teachers, so I'll be back! read more

I was really looking forward to coming here, but I was really disappointed. I arrived 10 minutes early like it says to do on the website and when I arrived, no one was there to greet me or to point me towards where my class was. I had to figure out where the class was on my own. When I found the class, no one greeted me and instead they actually looked at me like I didn't belong. As far as the dancing go, don't go here unless you're an expert at dancing. They said all levels were welcome, but the dance instructor was having the class do complex choreography which surprised me since the class was meant for beginners. The website made the classes look like a welcoming and fun space but I felt isolated and miserable. If you're thinking about coming here, just opt for a YouTube dance video instead. read more

The classes are always a great workout, there's a class and teacher to suit just about anyone. The studio is attractive, clean, and well ventilated. Bring water and a towel. I went to LA Dance Fit to rent studio space and bring something "NEW" the studio has never seen before. Unfortunately upon arrival I was met with very unprofessional costumer service. The studio owner was on the phone 20-25 mins while I was just standing around. When she finally spoke to me about studio rental she was a bit cocky but I was still interested. Although I heard a voice inside me saying- move on this studio is not going to be respectful of my time I still preceded to email the owner to move forward. After emailing the owner three days went by with no reply so I called her and she apologized for not replying in a timely manner. fast forward three more days (6 days) total no reply. I'm not sure how this studio considers itself to be a top studio in West LA...? Our time and dreams are precious. Please find yourself a studio that believes in you. Most studios just want your money. Do your research and don't settle for a studio like LA Dance Fit. read more
