Great experience, food, ambiance/vibes, and service. Julieta really stood out as exceptional. She even learned it was my wife's birthday and surprised us with their banana dulce de leche dessert with a candle on it. They only offer this one dessert on their menu and I can see why, it was delicious and memorable. They are known for their oysters and octopus but their lengua entree was exceptional. Can't wait to return.
Service was horrible 1-5 -food was ok! Wouldn't go back! Not worth it. Super expensive for nothing -place was cozy! And clean FOOD -octopus was a 2/5 -Fish (catch of the day) 1-5 Oyster- 3/5 It wasn't Cooked well. Not pleasant at all -steak- ordered medium and they sent it to me raw! Sent it back twice! Gross!!! So not worth it here!
We all had a special dinner out to celebrate the departure of our clpse co-worker. This restaurant was reccomended by someone and their reccomendation was right on point. The were so many menu options it was hard to choose something appropriate. We started out with an appetizer called Choripan, which basically is a type of chorizo from Argentina that is spread on top of baguette bread. I almost consodered live oysters, but I wanted to play it safe, and partially cooked oysters can sometimes cause stomach problems. My main course was the Lonja de Pescado Zarandeada which is marinated fish filet mixed with avacado sauce. It was excellent. My good friend ordered the basic shrimp cocktail, and the large size seemed overwhelming. She siad it was delicious as well. This is a wonderful classy type of restaurant.
Have you even had seafood? I was very surprised by how amazing the flavors of all the dishes I tried. Usually, there's a standout but here everything is just delicious. The command of the use of ingredients is next level. The cocktails are well-balanced and interesting in a good way. The service was great from start to finish- friendly, attentive, and efficient. Overall really great experience, and the vibe was just right. Unfortunately, I took very poor menu photos, so I can't name the food and drink I had except for the pulpo but know that I would come back in a heartbeat for all the yummy food. Do make reservations to get a table. There's also some walk-up bar seating that don't require reservations but if you want a table or have a larger party it is strongly encouraged.
La Docena offers great seafood in Mexico City with a great vibe. Offering some real flavorful dishes but a little disappointed they were out of certain items like the whole fish. The ahi tuna was offered in its although delicious just wasn't what I was looking for that night. The service was excellent and we really felt if there is anything we needed our server was able to get what we wanted or had alternatives for us.
If you visit one restaurant in Mexico City, go to La Docena! We came here on a recommendation from a friend and it did not miss! The service was great and the space was very cute. A smaller restaurant with chill city vibes. The drinks were good and we ordered a lot of food lol. The oysters Rockefeller were so good! I got the tuna tostada which was the best thing I ate on the whole trip. I should have gotten three of them! I also got the oyster taco thinking it would be a friend oyster but it wasn't and the texture just threw me off. My friend loved her seafood roll, but I forget what was in it, crab and shrimp maybe? We also shared a veggie plate that came with a really nice green sauce. We felt very healthy after that lol. I definitely recommend this spot!
While in Mexico City you must stop by here Everything was so good Food here was fresh Everything taste so delicious, service was amazingly Restaurant looks nice and clean. I'll came back again here, we were really impressed with the seafood Recommend
grilled oysters kinda mid feel like they're using toppings more than the oysters itself BUT the grilled shrimps are a 10/10 they were MASSIVE and so well seasoned I devoured them they also gave us rosemary lime water to wash our hands after wished they have lobsters

Forgot to take more pictures because we were totally enjoying the food as it came. The service was just as excellent! The waitstaff was so attentive; our wine glasses were never empty! Such a collaborative team. Highly recommend! 10 out of 10
A week later and I'm still dreaming about this place. Friendly staff, fresh seafood. Everything was excellent- perfectly cooked, seasoned, presented. Definitely order the whole grilled fish, served with pickled onion, salsas, guac, and fresh tortillas... amazing beyond words. Recommend!
Best food in my 5-day trip in Mexico. We went on New Year's Day, and got oyster, shrimp, octopus, and fish. All yummy! Very affordable price, highly recommend! Service good and ambiance nice
4.5/5 Came here for seafood in general but we werent too hungry so stick with mainly raw bars. It was delicious!! We tried 3 types of oyster, 3 types of clam, abalone - daily menu. They were all fresh, great texture and yum. For the regular menu, we tried the Raw Shrimp Tostada and Blue Crab Soup, both were sooooo good as well. Would definaly come back when I'm back here! They have English menu as well. read more

We had a great meal @ladocenaoysterbar I wish the weather would have been warmer and we could have sat at the outside oyster bar. We started with raw oysters, a crab tostada, fired calamari, and grilled oysters. The grilled oysters were amazing. We did the parsley and butter and almost ordered another round of the tabasco. We are normally not entree people but these were perfect. The grilled fish with avocado and herb salad is fresh, light, and so much flavor. I will try to recreate this at home. The grilled octopus was cooked perfectly. Nothing fancy just perfect octopus. And lastly the grilled vegetables . The herb smooth sauce they are served on top of and all the variety of vegetables, they are what all grilled vegetables are supposed to be. My girl dinner would be the vegetables and grilled oysters. read more

Have you even had seafood? I was very surprised by how amazing the flavors of all the dishes I tried. Usually, there's a standout but here everything is just delicious. My partner wanted to take me to a specific restaurant in Roma Norte, but they were unfortunately closed that evening. La Docena was right around the corner, and it ended up being a great choice to go there instead! We were seated on the outdoor patio. The weather that evening was perfect. Service was relatively quick because our table was right next to the register. We started with a dozen oysters, which tasted fresh. Watching my partner try to order horseradish was hilarious--I think we ended up with some sort of hot sauce . We had two orders of the sweet potato fries because of how addicting they were. I got a mezcal cocktail, and it was only okay. Flavorful but not very strong. Cute date night spot overall! read more

This spot feels right, above everything else I see, storage and handling of the raw foods is nothing but correct. That makes me want to eat a ton of oysters. The ambiance and the service is great. Just be aware that if you sit on the street you might get heckled a little bit and solicited a lot. Everything I ate was amazing. Open air Park let style eating is still something I have a love hate relationship with. I'd still take it over a stuffy loud indoor setting anyway. read more

Beautiful place to dine in! The staff here is super wonderful and extra helpful at explaining the entire menu. The limit is 3 to a table and it is very well cleaned and organized. If you're into steak and seafood this is definitely the place to go because that's what most of their menu consists of. The drinks here are really well mixed and they even make exceptions depending on what you want for a cocktail. I LOVED the fresh coconut water (a must). Many places around the area in case you need somewhere to go after! read more

Stopped by in La Docena for a quick meal on our last night in Mexico City. This is a beautifully designed corner oyster bar in a hip and lively Roma Nord neighborhood of Mexico City. Decor is incredibly well designed and the restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a cool little bar attached to the oyster station. We ordered Peruvian style ceviche, octopus with potato chips and oysters. Oysters were incredible, and I am very very selective we're I eat my oysters. Ceviche was similarly very good - fresh, perfectly prepared and well spiced. Octopus on the other hand was underwhelming. It was on a dry side and slightly chewy and overcooked. Potato chips very light, almost paper thin, placed under the octopus. I had an amazing glass of crisp French rose that went perfectly with oysters and ceviche. Tips: This is a fantastic oyster bar. I would stick to oysters. Roma is a great little locals neighborhood full of bars, restaurants and local spots. Walking around here is fun! read more
I thought this place was decent but not particularly exceptional, I was hoping for the seafood to taste a lot fresher. For the tuna tostada I felt like the avocado crema type sauce on it really just overpowered the tuna. The oysters rockafeller were my favorite thing we ordered, they were super creamy and tasty (very very heavy on the rockafeller fyi). Their tuna tostadas are amazing. We tried tuna tostadas from two other highly recommended places, but we loved theirs the best. It was fresh and so flavorful. We also got the scallop and blue crab tostadas, grilled octopus, shrimp aquachile, oysters, their burger, lengua tacos, and more. Everything was so good. But I cannot get over their tuna tostadas. The reviews are great but the food and service are not up to par. We arrived around 7pm and were told that there was a 40 min wait. From where we waited we saw about 8 empty tables that remained empty while we waited. I totally get waiting for reservations but no one showed up? We were seated at about 30 min and ordered the octopus and calamari. We decided not to order drinks because we had just come from Lucha libre (if you're in MX city it's a great experience). The waitress seemed peeved. The mineral water was 75 pesos and we had asked for boring old bottled water so that was definitely a rip off. The calamari was fresh but the oil they used was old. Too bad. The baby octopus was presented beautifully but it wasn't cooked correctly. It was a little too tough and not what I would expect from a higher ranked restaurant. Overall this place did not impress and I wouldn't recommend coming here. Aqua y sal is amazing and has great service. Go there!l read more
Our group was looking for a light dinner, so seafood fit the bill perfectly. Plus, this place was only a 10 minute walk from our Airbnb, so made it quite convenient. Our party of 7 came in on a Sunday evening and was seated right away. We decided to order family-style to share starting off with 2 dozen oysters (540 MXN). The oysters were a bit on the smaller side, but still pretty good. Then came an array of dishes: fried calamari (110 MXN), peru ceviche (150 MXN), tuna sashimi (295 MXN), tuna tostada (116 MXN), two octopus tostada (130 MXN), chilppachole (135 MXN), 3 oyster chowders (420 MXN), and tabla puplo jove, which is an octopus dish (305 MXN). The oyster chowder was a favorite for everyone as we ended up ordering more. The only problem is that the soup came out much longer than everything else, so be warned. Another favorite was the tuna dishes --both the sashimi and tostada was fresh and soaked in such amazing flavors. Now the winner of all the dishes was the whole octopus. I saw a picture of it and knew we had to get it. Not only was it such a grand sight to see, it was so delicious as well. The octopus was smoky from the grill, yet tender and chewy on the inside. Definitely a must try! While everyone was a fan of the food here, their service was a bit of a letdown thus the knock off of a star. Through some miscommunication, the servers brought out an extra bowl of soup that we did not order and gave us attitude at our refusal. Then they tried to still charge us for the extra bowl of soup. After getting it corrected, we tipped 10% (which is pretty standard in Mexico), the waiter once again eyerolled at us. Yes, he really did that in front of our faces --so rude. read more
