    Asada

I rate this place 3.5 stars. The only thing carrying this place is the carne asada. It is packed with flavor and is juicy. Everything else about the taco is very basic, it is definitely not the best tacos in Fresno. At almost 4$ a taco it's not what the hype claims it is.

These Carne Asada tacos are the best! Comes with complimentary guacamole also! Best hidden greenstone located downtown Fresno.

Cute little place that is clearly a neighborhood favorite (very busy at lunchtime). Friendly and quick service, which is much appreciated! The food is very filling and the quesadilla was packed full! We plan on coming back and trying a couple more plates from this restaurant.

What an unexpected surprise and treat, having lunch at La Elegante Taqueria. After running an errand in Fresno, this restaurant was highly recommended to us as great food and very important, authentic Mexican food. They were right on both counts. My pork burrito, mollete and pineapple drink was exactly what I needed, delicious local Mexican food. Spoke to the owner, Abel, who was very gracious and proudly told me his dad founded the restaurant 40 years ago. Love the history of this business, lots to be PROUD of. His dad is in the photograph behind us. I love this place for its delicious Mexican food but also for its great customer service, history and nice people. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Fresno.

3/28/25 Getting lunch! 2 Asada Burrito bowls ordered. They do not have chicken. FYI. The worker said it would be ready. I went to pick it up shortly later. Arrived. Greeted. Order ready and received. Paid for it and wished a good day! Appreciated! Small restaurant. Nice. Calm. Clean & safe. They have booths, a bar & table with chairs. Lunchtime! Asada Burrito bowls ordered was DELICIOUS! Lots of flavor and the hot sauce included made it even better! Fresh & tasty!! Mother said hets was REALLY Great!! 1/2 is plenty! Another meal for both of us! Good service & GREAT lunch!! Highly recommended!!

For generations, a family favorite for authentic, bold-flavored Mexican food. The tacos, tortas, and burritos prepared at this tiny Chinatown gem are considered some of the best in town. They have been prominently featured on ABC30 Dine and Dish. The Fresno Bee voted them the Best Tacos in the Central Valley for 2024 (and many years that proceed that). Patrons rave about their carne asada (beef steak) tacos, burritos, tortas, menudo on the weekends, and adobada (marinated pork). The menu consists of traditional, simple but very flavorful dishes. Tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, meat plates, and Mexican-style soups are some of the dishes on the menu. The prices are very reasonable. The food comes quickly. The menudo is as good as advertised. The tripe tasted clean and was tender and chewy. The broth was flavorful. They will give you more stacks of tortillas if you ask at no additional cost. The tacos start at $3.23 and are served with guacamole, onions, cilantro, cabbage, and chiles on warm, soft corn tortilla shells. The taco combos come with two tacos, a side of whole (not refried) beans, rice, and sliced cucumbers. Each taco comes with a sliced lemon wedge. You will be charged extra for cheese, $0.75. The adobada was good but I did not love it. I enjoyed the juiciness and flavor of the carne asada more. The salsa is fiery hot, tangy, thick, and has a subtle sweetness. They put just enough on the tacos. Any more and it would be too spicy. Service seemed hurried but this is because they are always so busy. The servers are friendly and attentive. They might need extra time to get back to you. The restaurant is small and seating is limited. It is the most popular lunch spot in Chinatown, so expect long lines and wait times during lunch hours throughout the week. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 AM - 2 PM. Closed on Sunday and Monday.

Small oily burrito and small salsa smh

So I gave this place a try again and I loved it. Prices are a little high but at this point everything is going up. I always get the tacos because those are my favorite and my husband loves the birria. Service is great even when they are extremely busy. If you don't like crowded places I don't recommend coming between the hrs 12-1:30pm. It can get really crowded but the staff does a great job at attending everyone so don't get discouraged. It's a small place so seating is tight. I recommend sitting at the bar that way you're not waiting for a table.

Hands down one of my favorite taco spots in all of Fresno. It's a small place inside, but don't let that fool you. The service is fast and the food is always fresh. Every time I've gone, my order has been out in about 3 to 5 minutes, and the quality has been consistent every single time. The asada is legit; tender, full of flavor, and no fat or gristle to worry about. But the real winner for me is the lengua, especially in a torta. The way they grill the bread is something special and adds a signature touch that really sets it apart. Easily a 5 out of 5 for me. The only thing to note is the price per taco is a little up there, but with how everything's gone up lately, it's to be expected. Still completely worth the drive and wait if you're looking for real, authentic tacos.

I've always heard great things about this place but just never had the chance to try it. Their hours are kinda odd. But let me tell you, these are the best tacos in Fresno. Hands down. The usual taco comes with your protein, avocado sauce, red salsa, cabbage, onions, cilantro. They give REAL avocado sauce. Most places just blend squash and try to push it as "avocado salsa," it really gives the tacos something different. They also give cabbage! I love cabbage in my tacos, adds a good crunch and sweetness. And the way they cook their tortillas, they get this nice crust on the outer part. The asada was amazingly seasoned. Everything just worked well together. This place would have gotten 5 stars but I'm not a fan of the beans and rice. I was expecting more of a refried beans and rice but it's really boiled beans and rice. I felt like they lacked a bit of flavor. I also wasn't a fan of the cabeza tacos. I was just expecting more. It was kind of gamey, also kinda lacked flavor as well. BUT regardless, the asada tacos were so good it cancels out everything else, that's how good it is. A definitely must try. I know their hours are odd. But you have to make the trip out.

The Al pastor tacos (pork) 9/10 on 1/24/23 so delicious!!!!
    Angie R.

I came to ale Elegante Taqueria several times most recently on 2/17/23. The Al pastor tacos are delicious 9/10 (just wish their tortillas would be homemade). But their food is out of this world as for tacos!!! I did ask if the Al Pastor was pork and I was informed it was as they mostly have beef, pork and goat items no chicken. The Al Pastor is my favorite and the goat was pretty good too! I even got the dude a burrito a few days ago. The Al Pastor is hard to believe it's pork!! As it's so juicy, mouth watering delicious!!! They do have dine in but limited seating and counter top seating too! It is small inside and staff is always friendly. A nice homey feel. Catering to Spanish speakers and non Spanish speakers as myself ...I can't ask for more than this place!!! This place is always packed but they whip out orders so quick as they are prepared for the rush. I usually come in close to closing time and today during the rush for the first time I was in and out within minutes. I always tip them really well. My order has always been 100% accurate!!! I am really impressed by this place. Since I'm working in the area now this is my go to spot for tacos :D I'm always craving them!! Parking is a hit or miss but I usually find parking. Overall, this is probably my favorite taco place in Fresno. Two Al Pastor Tacos is $7 which is not bad. They are huge and filling. Did I mention delicious? I can tell this restaurant works hard and take pride in their food 100%. Flavors are addictive and right amount of spice. Overall, I will be back!!! Great service, delicious food and cute inside. Location is perfect too!!!

Asada and Al Pastor tacos with rice and beans underneath all those tomatoes

Just an FYI, this is based on one visit- My review may change down the road. I finally was able to make it to La Elegante after I have been told by my coworkers and friends that they have the best tacos. I used to live near Clovis and tacos in the south or west side of town are just better. It is in the west side, E and Kern street. Upon arrival, it was very hole in the wall. The tables were filled and there was a line out the door. We decided to eat there sat on the bar stools. Service 3.5/5: It looks like a family run restaurant and hole in the wall, but they were decent and fast. Food 3/5: We got the combo plate for $12 each with one asada taco and one adobada taco and rice and beans on the side. Let me break it down: Tortillas- Tacos came wrapped in two medium size corn tortillas, my tortillas were crunchy, my husband's were not. Made me feel like I was eating a crunchy taco from taco bell and I prefer soft tacos. Beans- Bland, tasted boiled and not refried? Rice- Had cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers. Too much going on and the tomatoes and cucumbers were thrown all over the best part of my meal which was the Al Pastor taco. I like my meals more simple. Tacos with cilantro and onions (I did leave the salsa and guac on my tacos) I prefer my mexican rice and beans with no fuss. Al Pastor- After picking out the tomatoes and cucumbers out of my al pastor taco- It was very good. It is the best al pastor I have had in Fresno. I hated that they covered the best part of my meal with those items. I would have went to Taco Bell if I wanted a crunchy taco with tomatoes. Asada- My asada taco tasted like a cross between a street taco, robertitos and Taco Bell. Not my favorite. The salsa in the tacos were okay. Not as spicy as I liked. Price- With tip and tax, it came to about $35 for lunch for 2. A little steep. Overall- Our spot is Don Tacha because we can get a few simple street tacos and rice and beans for only $13. However, if we had a really bad craving for Al Pastor, we may make it over here. I was just really thrown off with the diced tomatoes and cucumbers all over my food.

I don't think I've ever felt betrayed by Yelp reviews...until now…read more During a recent road trip we stopped here to picked up some lunch/dinner because tacos are quick and easy and their Yelp rating is high. Location/services: Upon entering the building I immediately noticed the heat. It was a hot 98 degree day and the restaurant felt like an oven and was maybe 3-5 degree cooler than it was outside. I then quickly noticed this was a very simple operation (almost like a food truck), and not much to the menu, but there were folks sitting and eating and a few others waiting to order, so I assumed the food must be great. We ordered 4 meals (tacos with rice/beans) which was meant to be eaten there but after waiting in line and feeling like we were in a hot box, we decided to make it to go. We sat and waited for our food (about 20 mins), we chatted and observed our surroundings and it became very apparent the restaurant was not maintained with basic cleaning because it was very grimy and just plain dirty. I then used the restroom and it was absolutely disgusting. Our ordered was called and the staff was very nice. The food: As I mentioned, we got 4 orders of tacos (all carne asada) with rice/beans, and we asked for salsa and limes. We got grilled jalapenos, lemons and one sandwhich baggy filled with red salsa. Not a big deal. The meat was fine but the tortillas were inedible. They were tough, flavorless, and greasy. The bean and rice were ok. We ate enough to curb our hunger but none of us finish our food. Upon my best judgement, I had convinced myself that the food was gonna be great because their Yelp rating told me so. I was so wrong! One last note, there was nothing here that resembled a bakery/panaderia. So if you think you could also grab a treat here, you are wrong.

I also sampled the carnitas on top of crispy taco shells as well. The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, and the tortillas came out hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. Every bite reminded me why simple food done right is hard to beat. I was hoping to try the mojara frita, menudo, and barbacoa, only to find out the menudo and barbacoa are weekend only specialties. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed, but it also gives me a great reason to come back. What really stood out, beyond the food, was the hospitality. David, who appears to have been running the place for over 20 years, was incredibly charismatic and provided the kind of customer service that seems harder and harder to find these days. You can tell he genuinely cares about both the restaurant and the people who walk through the door. One of my favorite parts of the visit was when I saw the owner come out and greet the regulars and customers. The interactions felt sincere and heartfelt, not forced. There was a real sense of community here, as if customers weren't just patrons but part of an extended family. That kind of atmosphere is special and says a lot about the people behind the business. Great food, warm hospitality, and a welcoming environment--I'll definitely be back, hopefully on a weekend next time.

Miguel sells his auntenthic mexican food and Lisa sells her favorite sweet treats. By far on the market, they sell pretty bomb salsa! It's not like the generic salsa from store bought one, it's just like the unique homemade family recipes. And trust me, these are not as supper vinegary. I love Miguel's salsa! Miguel's message was to serve his community and bring his tradition to the table. He brought the flavors of Michoacan and Jalisco Mexico which were passed down from the Segura family. SERVICE :: I love Miguel's service! He personally serves you and greet you there. He offered me free chips and salsa while i wait. They were quiet busy but get things done quickly too. RATE : 5/5 SALSAS & CHIPS - COMPLIMENTARY:: His salsas and chips were the best thing I've ever recieved. He serves his famous red and green salsa with a little bit of ground beef on top. They go so well together. RATE : 5/5 RED SALSA :: It's hard to describe it here but it's roasty burnt salsa full of flavors. Not too vinegary. You just got to try it in person. RATE : 5/5 GREEN SALSA :: I personally love the green sauce more, in general. And still Miguel's green salsa still beats the red salsa. I can taste all of the greens and fruit in it. It may be advertised mild but the heat is there. It's about almost the same spice level as the red salsa. RATE : 5/5 ASADA TACO ($3.49) :: Besides his salsa, his tacos were amazing too. It's well seasoned, unique, and full of flavor. The asada is something that I've never tasted before. It's very herby, well seasoned to taste, juicy and tender! RATE : 5/5 TACOS DORADOS ($4.49) :: The tacos dorados were something different from what I've had before and were absolutely delicious. This taco reminds me of birria. The texture and flavor were also amazing. I asked for pork, it was supper moist, tender and juicy full of flavors. The cotija cheese brings a nice dry and light cheesy taste to it. And lastly, those pickled jalapeno just give a pop of juicy, sour, and spicy flavor. RATE : 5/5 PISTACHIO CREAMES ICED MATCHA (16oz - 6.49) :: Lisa use Tenzo brand. I've used and tried Tenzo before and it's hard to ratio the matcha. Over portion Tenzo match will be too bitter and too little too diluted. And yes, Lisa's Matcha was on the diluted side. The pistachio flavoring is light and taste artificial. The sweetness level is perfectly sweetend. Not too sweet. RATE : 2/5 NOTE : Spend anything above $50, get a $5 dollar off voucher for the next purchase. OVERALL :: Overall, it's a hidden gem that's definitely worth checking out! Don't forget his salsas, he do sell them on the side. I'll definitely go back for more and try his other menu!
