While on a long road trip, we stayed in torrington, next door was la familia. Very busy. The staff obviously had no training. They brought out orders 1 plate at a time.i think that's how the kitchen worked also. Took over an hour to get 3 shrimp tacos and then only when I asked for a check , was going to leave without food . Never did get a check, I paid at the counter where the girl had to look up every price. Nice local place full of local farmers, ranchers and construction workers . 3 stars only because there is nothing else. read more

We really enjoyed this hidden gem! The restaurant is owned and operated by a multigenerational family. This small family restaurant was bursting at the seams along with takeout at 8pm on a Saturday. The food came out in a reasonable time with how busy they were. The wait time was worth it! We both had the carne asada stake nacho burrito. One was mild and one was spicy. Both were fantastic. The mild did have some spice to it, but the spice was short lived and didn't linger. The spicy was hot hot hot to me, but just right for the one who wanted the spice. The burrito was smother in a pork nacho sauce that was delicious. The steak inside the burrito was out of this world with flavor and texture. Every part of this meal was cooked perfectly. The staff were all attentive (despite being busy) and the price was incredibly reasonable for awesome generous portions of authentic Mexican food that was all made fresh including the salsa verde. $38 for 2 full meals that provided leftovers for both of us and an appetizer. read more

Being originally from New Mexico, we know what good Mexican tastes like. La Familia Prada can play with any Mexican restaurant. The food was really really good. I had enchiladas and tacos and my son had fajitas. Both were top notch. The service was a little slow as they were understaffed but that was a small price to pay for such great food. You can bet that any time, I the future, that we are in Torrington, Wyoming, we will be having a meal at La Familia Prada. I can't say enough about how good it is. read more

Ordered three meals in 2 weeks, and will be going back for more. Get the crispy/fried corn tacos with the shrimp, you will absolutely love it. Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere, and inexpensive food. On our way back from Rapid City and all the monuments, stopped a night in Torrington. Craving Mexican and found this place. Couldn't be happier! It wasn't a quick experience, but this is dinner, if you want fast go to McDonalds. The food was great! My picky daughters loved it as well as my wife, my mother, and I. I am totally a fan of Prado's - their house made tortilla chips are awesome! Not everyone loves fried flour tortillas for tacos, but I do! This is a true family business, there are often children of employees hanging out / helping. I grew up working in a welding shot and treated people more welcoming than the Greeter/waitress. This is also immaculately positioned as a $, it's a $$. Your chips and salsa will cost you $5, which always makes you feel uncomfortable. At the point I was given my food within 25 min while they were busy, I thought, "hey, she's busy and having a bad day, I shouldn't be so critical". But when I got the tab I went, why is my beer $2.50, it says right on the table center that it's $1.75. When I told her, she said "did you read the menu?" To which I replied, "I ordered my drink before you gave me a menu". And she proceeded to argue with me stating that those are old prices. I suggested she take them down. I am so sad to write this. I used to live here and was a big fan of their food. Here for a visit and was so disappointed. The food was so blah . I had a chicken quesadilla. No salsa, no sour cream, my partners was not even grilled. Took forever to get service. The server was wearing really dirty jeans. It was 95 outside and 83 inside. No air conditioning. The only reason I knew it was that was because I saw the thermostat at the cash register. They had a loud industrial fan in the corner. Don't know what happened but I won't be going back there anytime soon. read more

The dining area is very clean and nicely done. The waitresses are very friendly. I ordered and the chips and salsa was their in a heartbeat. The chips are like Mimi sops. Delicious . I had the beef and bean burritos with rice and beans. Very good flavor on all .I was expecting the smother to be a good green pork chili. Admittedly, it's been a while since I've been to this restaurant, but I can still remember the delicious meals that I've eaten here. It's about time someone put a review out on this place and hopefully there will be many more to come. Some people may dismiss La Familia Prado from its appearance and simply drive by on their way in and out of Torrington. Much like many other locally owned establishments in this town, this place is simple and doesn't dress itself up with unessential things. You certain confirm its simplicity as you walk in and get brought into a large echoing room that is the main dining area. The service is done with a smile and you get the sense that this is definitely a family-owned restaurant. Chain restaurants are very spotty with the service, but you get the sort of dressed up flare with your meal, courtesy of private investors that don't really care. I try to avoid those places because, I try to keep my money spent locally whenever possible to keep small businesses around. As for the food, the dishes all appear to be fairly authentic Mexican. I would usually get the enchiladas, burritos or tacos and these were always up to par with some of the more popular spots in Colorado. The food comes out in a decent amount of time and you'll be attended to if there is anything you need as you eat fairly quickly. The price is very acceptable and I feel like I get my money's worth here. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, but I would especially encourage the locals to support this place and keep them around so I have a good Mexican place to eat at when I visit! read more

We were not impressed. First thing was that as. We walked in there was a sign that explained that they had had to raise prices due to the cost of food now. Had no problem with that because we know that costs have sky-rocketed with the high inflation now. But I was surprised at what they were charging for their food. No chips and salsa served as EVERY Mexican restaurant I have ever been in does. The menu was just very interesting, but decided on chicken nachos and myhusband ordered his usual, cheese enchiladas. His enchiladas came without any sauce on them. They were really dry. My nachos had flour tortilla chips. The "nacho cheese sauce" tasted like a Velveeta sauce. I will say there was plenty of chicken which was pretty tasty except a bit too salty. There was a small amount of tomatoes and about a quarter of an avocado. It was just too over-priced for the quality! We LOVE Mexican food, being from CA and had some really good Mexican over in Wheatland a few days ago, but I would it come here again. read more

This is our favorite restaurant! We are always treated well by the staff, the dining area is clean, and even when we get take out they know our orders! The food is flavorful, just the right amount of spice and I adore that I can get corn tortillas & guacamole! Also their salsa is my absolute favorite around.... My only complaint is that on occasion when we get take out my order doesn't arrive home as I ordered it, but it's still really great food! I highly recommend the jalapeno margaritas....so yummy! read more

We stopped at Garcia first but it was almost 8 pm and open sign was lit and they did not want to serve. We are a family from a neighboring town and we came to the community for a high school sporting event. The restaurant was not too busy only a couple of other tables were occupied. We did not understand why the service was so poor, no attention, no refills, asking for the same things several times before we could get anything. Finally at the end of our meal it was verbalized by the young waiter it was because we were wearing the wrong colors and we were for the wrong team. When your table totals $125 you might expect decent service to accompany decent food, in our opinion neither was achieved. We will not be returning! read more

We have always had a good meal here however we went here after a football game and let me tell you I will never return. The food was mediocre at best and the service was horrible. If I could give them a ZERO I would. I called to ask what time they closed and was told 8:00 so when I showed up 5 minutes after I called and they were closed I was very unhappy. When an employee finally came to the door she said they were closed and had already shut everything down. I spoke to the owner, expressed my displeasure and said when I call places in Cheyenne, they are ACTUALLY open when we get there. She said "Welcome to Torrington, WY", we hadn't had anybody come in in the last half hour so we are closing early. You should have said you were coming in or called in your order. My response is that if you already know you are closing or are closed then when someone calls you just freaking TELL THEM!!!! and explain to your employees that they are not supposed to be jerks to possible customers as well. I will tell everyone I know to NOT visit this place... the staff and owner are rude, they are unreliable on their hours of operation, and can't say much about their food. read more
