The atmosphere is like no other and the love and pride for Puerto Rico is unmatched. The live music stages are set up on various streets, the food and alcohol are a plenty and the celebration is REAL! Wear your walking shoes because there is so much to see, hear, drink and eat. This year broke records of over 1million people in the streets of Old San Juan over the 4 days. It is a culture to embrace. So.. see you there next year my YELPies, I'll be the one with the tambourine and PR flag dress

It was an experience my gal and I will never forget. It's basically four days and nights of their island version of Mardi Gras! While we were there the weather was absolutely perfect. Warm sunny days to explore, shop, walk the streets of pastel colored buildings and houses, visit historic sights, and do the touristy thing. Even paid a trip to the Bacardi rum distillery, and bartended a bit while enjoying some libations. Oh yeah! The eats? OMG - the Mofongo here is insanely good! So much delicious food. I am now a Mofongo addict. We had a chance to dine at many of the small cafes, and always tried to eat where the locals went. Then, awesome nights under the stars partying our asses off until midnight each evening. Even though we were surrounded on packed cobblestone streets with literally a hundred thousand other party animals each night, we loved it and never felt crowded in and stomped on. The people attending this festival were so friendly and respectful. Even when drinking and dancing to terrific DJ's, salsa bands, and numerous singers along the streets and plazas, if anyone bumped into us or stepped on our feet there was always an "excuse me" or "sorry buddy". Very warm, well behaved, and considerate people. The entertainment that performs at SanSe is top-notch. We did so much dancing that we slept so well when we plopped into bed afterwards. It was a fun way to get exhausted, then happily do it all over again the next day! The best part of the festival was wandering around, walking down some side street, and happening upon another party. Just some people playing instruments, the locals in lawn chairs, and breakout dancing in celebration. Anybody walking by was invited to join in. Loved it! Oh, and there were so many stands set up to try their street foods, and island cuisine mainstays. Bars were everywhere serving up ridiculously cheap beer and mixed drinks. Booze stands would pop up everywhere, including doorways to buildings were there should not be one. $2 beers. $3-5 large mixed drinks. It was easy on the wallet, and those drinks were not weak at all. I have to say, we felt pretty safe the whole time. The police force was out in full force, and they look like the types you don't mess around with. Very well organized event. We had booked this trip at last minute, as JetBlue had a getaway travel package that was hard to pass up. It was a no-brainer. Definitely, one of the best vacations we have ever been on. Hands down. Then, we all know what happened when hurricane Maria hit. Poor PR, and it's people, were destroyed. There is still widespread damage, a lot of the island has no power, and most services are not functional. Even to this day a year later. We hope and pray for PR, as we want to go back in support, and experience the culture, friendliness, and warmth that we were surrounded with. My heart goes out to the people there. Yes, we will party with you all again at San Sebastian. We can't wait to go back in the future and dance the nights away. Plus, I need my Mofongo! Long live SanSe!

Our arrival was earlier in the day, so the room was not available for some hours. I truly did not care. We were at THE BEACH.. cool drinks and good food awaits!! We went to dine at one of the restaurants. Good meal. Our room on the 10 th floor gave such amazing views from the balcony. The king bed was clean, room floor nice and clean bathroom as well. We enjoyed our amazing mixologist Angel he is such a personality, will crafting the drinks offered on the menu and your personal choices. The casino was basic, Cafe Mercado offered great coffee each morning. This was a absolutely great trip. The hotel is elegant and even guest all were just friendly. The $65/person/day resort fee was quite steep and included use of the pool, lounge chairs, tennis court, pickleball court, yoga classes, and the gym. I think you could even ask for a personal trainer. I only used the gym. The gym was in the basement of the hotel, which was depressing, but I appreciated the cold, mint-scented sweat towels. The rooms were standard and adequate. My room had a partial ocean view. The windows filtered out the street noise, but the interior walls were paper-thin. I could hear the guest next-door texting, and woke up several times from hallway noise (1 star off). The location in Condado is walking distance to the beach, many good restaurants, coffee shops, a pharmacy, a post office, and a small grocery store. Old San Juan is further out and requires a short car ride. If you are looking for a touristy and resorty hotel, this hotel is a good choice.

TL;DR: This was the most infuriating festival I have ever been to. The only saving grace was the…read moresound was good and the locale is is surrounded by the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico. I travel to Puerto Rico a couple times a year and I am used to "island time," so I don't expect anything to get done quickly here. However, no excuse can be made for how terrible the experience was. Long Version: -We arrived at 7:30pm at the ticketing office and did not receive our tickets until 10:30pm, even though we had already purchased them and had proof. -Absolutely no signage or directions. NONE. -No paper maps. -All spoken directions given were incorrect. -The ticketing service (TicketPop) had a booth right next to the regular ticketing booth but no one working there could tell you which ticketing booth was for what. -Waiting in line took 3+ hours. -Both will call and prepurchased tickets forced to squirm through a swarthy mass of angry, misguided patrons. There is no way you could define this as a "line." It was as close to a riot as it can get. -A few people passed out from the heat of all the bodies close to each other in line, but the line was so crazy that people were quite literally dying to get in rather than get away to get fresh air. No one working even paid attention or cared. -If somehow you chose the correct line, the minimum wait was 2+ hours. No one we talked to got through faster than that. -The line problems were so bad that property was destroyed and many people tried to break the gate to get inside. -No one, not a single person working the event knew a single thing about anything that was going on. I cannot stress how dismissive and unapologetic every single worker was. None of them were informed of anything, and acted as if it was crazy that you would expect them to know where a line was, where you can purchase tickets, where you can find a taxi, etc. There could have been no people working there and the process would have been smoother. I'm not kidding. -There was one, yes, ONE single ATM at the entire event and it ran out of money at peak hour, right before the night ended. There was also the repairman for the ATM and a woman watching people's PINs as they put them in. -When we approached workers about trying to figuring out what the problem was, we mentioned that the whole operation was a failure and we were there for 3+ hours. The worker replied "I've been here for 10 hours!" Uh, you're working dude, and I paid you. Do your job.

My girlfriend and I had our tickets already that were sent to us in the mail, so we went ahead and walked to the entrance only to be told we had to have 2 tickets each for both of the days. Ummm ok? thanks, Insomniac for not telling us at all that if we already had tickets we need to go to will call to pick up another 2. Weird and super inconvenient considering the line for Will Call was dreadfully long. We lost whatever buzz we had at this point and were standing in a line that was absolutely NOT moving. Fed up, my girlfriend told me to go to the front and ask if we were in the right line. I saw a worker and asked her why I needed another set of tickets if I already had them. She couldn't really speak English, so she smiled and disappeared and came back with the tickets I needed. I was excited at that point, and tried to get her to give my friends their tickets too, but she said no. Our friends told us to go in to the festival without them, so we left feeling guilty and went inside. About 3 hours passed and our friends texted us saying they were STILL in line!!! My girlfriend and I both agreed that we would've given up already if we had waited in line and not got lucky with the girl who gave us tickets. Stages: Ok, sooo the only decorations on the main stage was some blown up balloons in the shape of daisies and a couple mushroom sculptures on the sides of it. Maybe I am biased because I went to EDC Las Vegas. IDK but I think Insomniac literally has billions of dollars and could've put a little more effort in to the eye pleasing decorations. There's three stages total which I'm totally ok with. We hate walking for milessss to get from one stage to the other. At one point, we were at the very front of the stage. We enjoy small festivals for these reasons. Drinks: I thought drinks were pretty cheap compared to some other festivals. They served beer, rum, and vodka. Age: I'm 24 and my girlfriend is 27, so we were a little surprised with seeing literally babies and 5 year olds there. I thought the age limit was at least 16??? Strange. At least their parents were with them I guess and couldn't get a baby sitter??? Just don't think a bunch of people high/drunk and partially naked and loud music is appropriate but to each their own. Getting There: We walked from our hotel which was about a little under a mile away and felt safe. Being right on the beach was lovely too. Atmosphere: Younger crowd, but we enjoyed the friendly care-free atmosphere. DJ's: Pretty good mix of DJ's including a lot of famous headliners and locals too. Advice: I recommend Insomniac to get their crap together next time for this festival.. People literally came from all over America..New York, Cali, and I'm pretty sure other countries too. It's soooo disappointing knowing that our friends and many other people had to unknowingly wait in will call for hours and hours...only to get in with a few hours of partying left. Please fix this. I would've given this more stars but that line for will call was unacceptable considering people with tickets still had to go there!

You'll immediately see a tree and lantern lined street with many local vendors and benches. I'm not sure if they're set up there on a daily basis or not. We saw them on a Saturday morning. You'll eventually get to the promenade called Bastion de la Derecha de San Justo y Pastor. This is where you'll find the American Heritage Plaza, Children's Park, Princess Garden, and the old prison that is now a tourism company. The real draw is the Raices Fountain and the beautiful view of the ocean & fortified walls. But, it doesn't end there. The promenade continues on along the fortress wall that leads you to a very bizarre park with a public artwork by Carmen Inés Blondet called Crecimiento ("Growth"). Honestly, I thought it was some kind of historical spiked barrier to ward off enemies. It's definitely interesting to see. It's a beautiful walk that takes you under the Garita del la Fortaleza which is actually where I snapped a great picture of the San Juan Gate during one of our previous visits. We knew at that point that we were close to the prize. The Puerta de San Juan presented itself to us. It's a beautiful sight to see. There's a small pier as well as a park that is dedicated to Isabella I of Castile. She's a very significant figure in the discovery of Puerto Rico. At this point, you can choose to walk through the gate to connect to the old convent and cathedral or walk along Paseo del Morro. Just keep in mind that there is construction going on right now on the castle path. This means that you'll have to turn back around and exit at the gate. The reopening of this path is something to look forward to in the future. It's a nice way to see El Morro from a different perspective. It was time worth spent on a cool & breezy Saturday morning with lots to see along the way. A great relaxing walk for residents and travelers alike.

You name it, there's a little shop/hut/truck for it. Getting in and out of Charlotte, Amalie is not only hard but impossible after 8 pm. We were staying in the Marriot Frenchman and caught one of the very few taxis back. But overall, it was so much fun. All day of eating, walking, taking pictures and just enjoying the carnival.
