This is a gem tucked away in Harrison! I began eating here a few years ago at business lunches and dinners. Now my husband and I stop by when we are going to the NJPAC for the evening. The food is always superb as is the service! I have tried many dishes and each one has been a treat. If, for some reason the wonderful specials, or a selection from "the bible" doesn't tickle your pallet they will gladly make something to your liking. La Fiamma is a staple for the town of Harrison, as I only recently discovered. I had a craving for Italian food in NJ. What I didn't know is that there was a really good Italian spot only 5 minutes away from home. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the hostess. Our waiter was extremely pleasant and friendly. We placed our order: eggplant rollatini as an appetizer, and the mahi-mahi daily special and chicken francese (my go to entrée for NJ Italian restaurants) for our entrees. The waiter brought out bruschetta and bread to our table. The bruschetta was a really nice gesture. The eggplant rollatini was really good and serving size was enough for two people. I opted for the linguini with the chicken francese. It was probably one of the best chicken francese I had in a very long time. I didn't get a chance to try the mahi-mahi but my mother said it was absolutely delicious. I was actually quite full and wasn't able to order any dessert, which I wish I had tried. Great little Italian restaurant that unless someone takes you.. you'll never find it. Trust me, this is a good place that you should go out of your way for. Nothing fancy, its all about the food. And the food is fantastic!! The menu is on the wall, a chalk broad wall. So basically they run 15 - 20 specials a night, awesome! As the night goes on they start crossing off what they run out of, it a nice touch. Like I said food was great, had the octopus to start and then the wild bore pasta, with a bunch of cheap house wine that was very tasty. Best Italian food on the planet. I've been eating for 60 years and have had great food, but this food is incredibly better than anything I've ever had!!! The portobello with goat cheese was divine. It makes your babies be born naked. I have never tasted anything like that. Had the Chicken Marsala - get the bread and clean the sauce off your plate. Wife had the Penne a la Vodka - incredibly delicious! Sopped all the sauce off the plate til it was clean! The house Pignot Noir was great, and I am not even a wine drinker. Three stars because the food was excellent but.....Made reservations about 2 weeks in advance & let them know it was a big day (college graduation). We were a large party (9) for LUNCH but was happy when I got a call after making the reservation saying all was set etc. Confirmed about four days prior. Reservation for 12:30 - since large group we arrived over the course of about 15-20 min. No one had been offered drinks etc by time we (parents and grad) arrived last about 12:45. Had to ASK if we could please order drinks which arrived over the course of 10 min starting at 1:15. Oh and they brought out some bread too - we'd been there for about 40-45 min now. Again had to ASK can we please order? I'll just cut to the chase and say it was almost 2:20 by the time we were served (one guest had to get hers to go b/c of delay). During all this time we had to ASK for more drinks / water - no one ever came by to see if everything was ok. Only when my husband asked - again after an hour - if we'd be served soon did the owner come out and turn on the charm. The food was delicious but I'd be hesitant to head back. Oh and for a party of 9 we were seated at round tables pushed together in the bar area - not very comfortable. It was a special day and the graduate was happy to be moving on to new adventures but the meal was not a fitting send off. read more

I called them with just 2 days notice and they were able to accommodate my party of 15 with ease. The service by the staff was excellent and the food we are still raving about. Great find in Harrison, NJ! We were driving down the turnpike and wanted to eat, but didn't want anything from the rest area or fast food. This place is great! Old school vibe. From the service, to the menu, the ambiance, and the food. Traditional Italian favorites that are prepared with simple, fresh ingredients - light, nothing over the top, dishes. But that's what makes it so good. We had rigatoni puttanesca, lobster ravioli and parmesan crusted chicken. All very good with nice portions and no complaints. The service is great. Old school, social, but not intrusive. A lot of locals here so that says something. And as an aside, as we were approaching, the host was helping an elderly woman with a walker out the door and on to the sidewalk. Nice to see! read more

The place looks like it hasn't been updated since it was built but this is a positive and adds to the experience. Very clean. The food here is to die for. Been living in the vicinty for 5+ years now and didnt know they had this gem hidden away! It has a realy nice ambience! The servers are very sweet and courteous. What a great find. We aren't from the area but wanted a nice local place before the a Ref Bulle game. As an aside, we parked in front and had only a half mile walk to the arena, so saved on traffic and parking fees! That was unknown at booking. Great service. Wonderful owner. Way overly surprised. My husband and I have been going there for almost 2 years and have been very pleased with service and food. To the point that we have brought over both sides of our family for certain special occasions. There has been several incidents where there has been mishaps however tonight's topped it off. I found a large piece of plastic in my meal so i discretely brougt it to the owners/managers attention and recieved a lousy excuse that it was something else. To our surprise we had to pay for the meal and they added $10 worth of extra items that was not ordered by us. Are they so money hungry that they couldnt deduct the meal that i did not even eat off the bill or even an incentive like dessert on the house. Unreal just for the principle Fiamma's have lost our business for good. What a shame!!! read more
