I met Paulie back at Devry institute when it was still a party school. He told me I had to check out his spot the next time I was in town so I figured I would stop by to see what the strange situation was looking like. Before I could finish my first drink, I knew what kind of bar this was because a patron leans over the counter and asks where he can find "kuddy". I know Puerto Rican slang for a lady of the night when I hear it. The bartender points towards the truck lot next door. I keep a fresh button up and some rags in my LeBaron precisely for times like these. As I head towards the door, a bearded Portuguese man walks in and makes intense eye contact with me. This isn't my first rodeo. I know legally he has to verify it's me before serving me these child support documents, so I beat him relentlessly with a barstool before he can mutter a word and I head out to search for Kuddy in the truck stop. Paulie, I'm sorry I couldn't pay my bill but I threw some loose change at the front door which should cover the drink and meal I ordered. Hands down 5 Rating. Recently moved to Harrison and visited twice so far. Once for take out (Cheeseburger & shrimp appy). Both delish but felt a warm vibe during the quick pick up. Then went for a last minute dinner and chose the steak special. YUM YUM. Steak perfectly cooked w/ wonderful sauce. Even the veggies were perfect along with rice. Friendly warm service. Which came with a large portion of fries. Let's just dive into the nachos it's such a huge platter your definitely taking home. It's a full array of topping from beef cheese pico de gallo sour cream beans . Pure deliciousness. Every nacho is covered and it's plated hot and fresh. The tenders are crispy and well seasoned . You definitely get two serving from their portions. The price is so reasonable. The tenders are around ten bucks and the nachos around 15 bucks. But just know your getting at least two serving of goodness. There happened to be a couple celebrating their anniversary there . They were enjoy a steak platter that looked appetizing. I've been going to Vinnies All-Star Bar and Grill for more ten years. This establishment is real stand out from all the choices for a good lunch or dinner in the Harrison/Kearny/Newark area. The Bar/Pub environment is always warm and friendly, and the meals served always satisfy. Service is prompt and attentive. Vinny and Pauly work hard to select and offer new daily specials to bolster their menu offerings, which never seem to disappoint. GREAT! i loved this place. it really made you feel like you were at home even if, like me, your real home is across the entire country. there were many neighborhood men having a beer and talking like old friends and that really made the place seem cozy. i got one of the specials which was chicken with lemon sauce and rice and veggies and it was great! it tasted EXACTLY like my grandma makes. my brother got the same dish as me. my mom and dad got the grilled salmon over fettuccini with some veggies. this is a portuguese restaurant and my grandma is cuban/brazilian so it was very similar. i wish i could have finished it but i probably have enough for multiple for meals. i shouldn't have ate the yummy bread they gave us before the food came. the only negative to this restaurant was that it took quite a while for the food to be cooked but i guess that was alright seeing as it made sure it was cooked to order and not before hand, which was good. my dad also cannot eat spinach and there was some questionable greens in his fettuccine that he thought might be spinach but that's honestly his fault for not asking. the service was lovely. we i my really interacted with one man the whole time, who i suppose is probably the namesake of the restaurant, vinnie, was very nice. he explained in detail exactly what each of the specials contained and any other questions we had about the menu. he gave us multiple plates of bread which i gobbled up because i was starving. he later checked on us multiple times while we were eating to see how we were doing and if we wanted anything else. the prices were also very reasonable. it was $5 and change for the specials which were gigantic. read more

Vinnie himself will tell you that this is a bar for locals, so I took it upon myself to share this well known local gem on Yelp. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside it's very welcoming, with your standard sports bar decor. We came in after the lunch rush so we had our pick of the place. VInnie urged us to choose a nice seat by the windows to enjoy the sun. The service was excellent - both the owner and the waiter were very accomodating upon hearing that I'm a pescetarian (vegetarian that eats seafood). They reeled off a series of dishes and assured me that the kitchen would take care of me. I ended up ordering the Greek salad without the chicken. It comes with balsamic vinaigrette, walnuts, goat cheese, sliced cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and red onions. It was a good sized salad, and all the ingredients were fresh and crisp. The vinaigrette was an authentic vinaigrette, just extra virgin olive oil and good quality balsamic vinegar. It was a shame that I didn't have more of an appetite (long hot summer day), but I would love to come back and try the blackened tilapia and some of the tiramisu. I have it on the best authority that the local crowd loves Vinnie's, and after just one trip it's easy to see why. read more

Have been to Vinnies a few times and it is always very good food, me and the GF would usually get a sandwich or a burger which are very good, this time we tried the entrees and wow they were so delicious, my Gf got the strip steak with veggies and I got the beef stew with rice and black beans they were both excellent in the taste and quality, this is not just bar food this is restaurant quality food if not better than some restaurant we have been too. Wow this is my second time here and this place is so awesome and the food is so good I want to take this bar home with me lol. Well it's an old school place that has been owned by the same owner over 30 years. The food that comes out of the kitchen rivals fancy restaurants at blue collar prices. The bbq ribs are amazing and will make you return over and over. The burgers especially the BBQ burger are one of the best I've eaten. There are also daily specials to look forward to, like the Tuesday and Saturday night BBQ ribs.
