I ate here years ago and it wasn't too bad. Tried it again and it by far was the worst dining experience I have had in many years. Staff was friendly but not very attentive. We were seemed and there was not many diners at the time. It took a while to get water and chips. The chips were in a small bowl and many of them were broken. We went through 4 bowls of these before we were able to place our order. They brought out salsa and so e sort of cabbage dip that was hard and really packed into the bowl. Chips would break trying to get some on the chip. We did not eat that. The salsa was obviously from a can or a super last chef. We all ordered the Cadillac margarita, very strong and basically cheap tequila and margarita mix. There was a broken trail of salt on the glass only about 1inch long. Lazy bartender. I ordered the super burrito with beef. It came out very quick. My first cut into it I was super surprised to see greasy taco meat, like what you would have in hamburger helper, ooze out. I have never seen meat like this in a burrito. I ate it, it was super disgusting. I am super swollen this morning and feel crappy. Terrible experience, super lazy chef, bartender, waitress and bus boys. The pictures on the wall of patrons with their party hats on were obviously wiped down as all the ink was smeared all over, lazy housekeeping. Enough blather, this place stinks and I do not recommend anyone goes there, you will be jeopardizing your well being if you eat there, read more

Had the chile relleno and chalupa combination platter. Food was cold and bland. The meat in the chalupa was slimy and flavorless, and did I mention cold? Sent my plate back to be warmed up and it came back just as cold-minus the guacamole and sour cream. When I inquired why it had been taken off the waiter said "this plate doesn't normally come with it so the cook took it off when he remade your food". Ok then... Also had coffee but instead of half and half they give you powdered creamer. My husband had prawn fajitas, which he said were just ok. Do yourself a favor and go to Dos Amigos instead. read more

Unfortunately like some other low stars the food was completely bland, let me rephrase that blah..yuk. It didn't even taste like food. The margaritas were terrible and the service was very slow. Won't be back. read more

We were just passing through town and stayed in Elko to break up the trip. La Fiesta was recommended by the hotel staff and we are glad we followed-up. We are Texans passing through and I can tell you it was very solid-tex mex. We had the taco's, enchilada's and tamales. It was all excellent, inclusing the service. Strongly recommend. read more

Like other reviewers, we were stopping in for the night at a local RV park en route to home. The front desk clerk at Iron Horse recommended La Fiesta as a good local restaurant that was good to take our 4 and 7 year-old kids to. We were very tired and looking forward to Mexican food after 8 days of camping and eating out at fast food restaurants and park deli's. There were several groups of people coming and going as we arrived at the rather small, unassuming storefront. We had a peek at the local bar scene but were seated promptly in the dining room. We started with traditional margaritas, which were tasty - not too strong, not too large, and not overly expensive. If you are expecting something in a huge goblet a la "On the Border", you won't find it here. But you also won't be paying $8+ for a single drink (about 1/2 that, so get two!) The kids gave two thumbs up to the kids-sized burritos (shredded beef and bean & ground beef) which were huge and more than they could possibly eat. We each had Carne Asada and it was the best we've eaten. Thin and tender with a generous helping of homemade guacamole, green onions, and a large, hot chile to top it off. The beans and rice were a nice accompaniment. My husband requested a chile relleno, something that he loves but rarely finds worthy. We prefer the chiles thin-walled, not overly thick and tough, as many are prepared. What arrived was huge, taking up the entire length of a medium-sized oval plate. They were stuffed with cheese, had a delightfully light fried egg coating and then drenched in a wonderful cheese-chili-tomato sauce. Even my 7-year old son, who tends to be picky about new foods, thought it was delicious. My husband raved about it, saying that he's eaten authentic chile rellenos all over Mexico and this was one of the best ones he's ever eaten. If you are looking for a stylish Mexican establishment, this isn't it. It more reminds me of a mom-and-pop restaurant that is highly regarded by the locals and is very comfortable. There were several waiters moving swiftly to take orders and deliver food the entire time we were there. Our waiter was very polite and seemed a bit embarrassed by our compliments regarding the food. Try the Carne Asada! It is wonderful. My husband and I eat here several times/month and love the food and the waiters/waitresses. Food is great and the portions huge. Our favorite if we are going out! read more

Their survive sucks they literally took and hour to get us our food everyone else got served but us the really need to work on being faster

2-13-13 Service was good, Margaritas not so good/ no taste. The salsa was ok but no heat, so I asked for a hotter/ spicier red salsa and all they did was add crushed red pepper to the salsa. And the cabbage salsa was old! I might be a person of lighter complexion but I'm not an idiot. I can top their salsa any day of the week. The ground meat tacos and burritos were salty as hell. During our meal another customer next to our table also did not like his margarita. Bottom line.. you'd have a much better meal cooking at home. Note to owners: Invest in a bartenders drink manual. read more

The food was acceptable but the service was horrid. We just popped in today after church with a group of 10 people. We lined up a few tables which were located next to each other and had some normal food items. The bill came with an 18% FORCED gratuity. We asked the staff about it and they stated it was on their new menu. We politely asked the staff if they would point it out on the menu. Sure enough, it is - small print on the bottom of the red design in light red - WOW. There is no other sign located anywhere in the restaurant. According to a dictionary GRATUITY is a gift of money (or value) given above the cost and is to be given without obligation or demand. We always leave a tip and at times more than 20%, BUT when you force me to give a TIP and receive poor service - WOW, what a very sad business practice. I love to donate to causes and certainly TIP for good service... I talked to the host at the cash register, but they didn't seem to care. However, I do and will take my business elsewhere. I leave GREAT tips for GREAT service and leave very good tips for mediocre service, but to demand I pay 18% is NO LONGER fitting of the word gratuity. And to think, it was (PASTTENSE) a great stop to take people and celebrate some time in Elko; I did it OFTEN. I live in Spring Creek - Bill was $176US. I will take my business elsewhere!
