I was out here in Elko Nevada for work and I was pleased to see that there was a Gold Dust West Casino out here along with the Grille restaurant. I heard the food was pretty good here and a decent deal. I go in with one co worker whose driving me around Elko. It's not really too smokey in here, so that's a good thing, but it's not a crowded Saturday night either with all kinds of drinking and smoking at the slots going on. We get seated at a nice table and I go over the menu. They have a prime rib special here for $17.99 and it's available everyday from 11 am! Most of these casino restaurants that have prime rib, only have that on Fri and Sat after like 4 pm. I passed this time, but what I did see was the Chicken Fried Steak! It's supposed to be a 10 oz. beef patty, breaded and deep fried served with country gravy, hashbrowns and toast, and then even THREE eggs, for just $13, that's a deal. In the Bay Area where I was just working, they don't even serve Chicken Fried Steak ..... it's like truck driver food I guess. My friend had this Cali Omelet ... yeah it was sort of breakfast time for us. That was the more healthy option with veggies and no meat, just the opposite of what I ordered! The food came out in short time and look fab! I ordered my Chicken Fried Steak on a separate plat with gravy on the side, so I didn't get gravy all mushed up with my eggs and potatoes. Holy moly, that was a lot of food! Super tasty, I just ate half and took the rest to go, gave it to my friend since I flying back out soon and I don't think the airline would appreciate me bring Chicken fried steak on the plane to eat! To reach The Grille, you first have to navigate through the casino floor, which comes with a noticeable smoky scent -- something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to it. Once seated, our experience was a mix of highs and "almosts." - Appetizer: We started with the fried pickles -- crisp, flavorful, and addictive -- though a seasoned dipping sauce would have taken them to the next level. - Entrées: Antonio ordered the prime rib, advertised at 12 oz, but it appeared a bit smaller than expected. Portion sizes for his sides, however, were generous and satisfying. I went with the penne alla vodka but received penne with marinara instead. While the garlic bread was decent, I missed the creamy, robust vodka sauce that was promised. - Service: A little on the slow side, though staff were polite once they arrived at the table. The very first thing my boyfriend and I noticed upon arrival, is how literally amazing Victoria the hostess is. She was the best. Super charismatic, funny and nice. She sat us immediately asking if we'd like a table or booth, and brought us the coffee and creamers we'd asked for, when she took our drink order, with a smile. The restaurant was spacious, and well lit. The echoing of slot machines chiming away in the distance reminded you that this was in fact a casino diner. The prices were great compared to the few well known local breakfast eateries in town. And surprisingly had a good selection of Eggs Benedicts compared to the other places mentioned. My boyfriend ordered Banana Fosters French Toast, and I got the Brisket Eggs Benedict with the jalapeños on top. I also asked to make sure the yolks were runny (as I'd got some at Dreez in the past w/ solid yolks). When I ordered it however, the waitress corrected me and asked If I'd meant the scramble with the same name. To which I had to point out the Benedict in the menu to her. She said she'd never had anyone order it and subsequently was unaware of its existence. Maybe she's new. Breakfast came and it all looked amazing. My boyfriend said his bananas could have been more caramelized from the flames they should set to them, and wondered if they'd been set aflame at all. My Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly, however the brisket was VERY thin, not juicy or smokey at all and was literally, as tough as leather. Sad Days. I asked the waitress for sourdough toast when our meals came out...yet waited and waited. Then I saw her walking around the floor checking on other tables and getting them things. I thought maybe she had to wait on the kitchen for it, but no. She'd forgotten. After finally realizing her mistake and rushing to get my toast, it was kinda too late for me to enjoy it with my breakfast. Sad Days x2. Overall the food was good, and cheap, and well worth the price. The service of the waitress left much to be desired, yet Victoria was amazing. Most of my families plates came out lukewarm. Raw prime rib was served. Wait time for food was an hour and ten minutes. The Blackened salmon was super oily. Stopped in for a quick late lunch/early dinner. I ordered the prime rib $16. It came with a side salad, roll, choice of potato, and veggies. I had the mashed potatoes and it came with green beans. It came out in minutes. The prime rib was perfectly cooked, the salad and mash were great. The green beans seemed fresh and were over cooke, but still were good. We just ate at The Grille restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. First of all our server Brenda was soooo warm and accommodating. My husband had the ribeye steak And it was great! I had the prime rib and it was melt in your mouth good. We are on a keto diet, so we did some swapping out which they accommodated. I ordered mushrooms which they fried and they were so good. The creamy horseradish, and Au Jus were perfect. We both had side salads and both loved our dressing. Hubby had ranch and I had blue cheese. Brianna was the cashier and she was a doll. We saw a sign on the road that advertised breakfast for $5.99. We packed up our trailer, and headed over here to have breakfast before we hit the road. Assistance really nice and she does. Even the Busser was really joyful and happy when she got us some water. The waitress is really busy, so the hostess took our order. Actually the hostess turned out to be the food and beverage manager lol. Her name was Mandy, and she was just really sweet and delightful. So we got first class service. I can see why the waitress were so nice and happy. A reflection of their food and beverage manager. Five people ate for $30. Amazing price, really large portions. The only downside two hour visit was the coffee. You would figure that someone would complain enough that they would get some decent coffee. It really was not good. Really hit or miss. Guess it just depends on who they have in the kitchen. We went for breakfast one morning and I got the steak and eggs, it was delicious. Went back recently and got the same thing and it was horrible. Rib eye for dinner always seems to be spot on and is always delicious and has so much flavor!! My favorite thing to get when I'm there. The bacon wrapped jalapeños are amazing and I highly recommend! Service is hit or miss. It's sad you advertise this for miles upon miles before getting to elko. I got intrigued by the signs , and then another sign as I got closer. The last sign states you offer steak and lobster. Seemed to good to be true. The grille is located inside the casino. The gold dust west to be more specific. As your walk in the place smells like cigarette smokes and alcohol. Which is normal I guess for a casino. I went straight to the grille. The people in the front were nice and courteous. It was about 3pm Sunday place was empty. I was seated by the front desk. After that it all went down hill. Nobody even batted an eye... never once said hi , or offered me a drink at all. I watched as people after people were sat after me and got attended to. Idk maybe it was because I was Latino ? Who knows. I decided to stay and see how long it would take for them to acknowledge me. 40 minutes ! Unbelievable for an empty place and only about 5 ppl in it. That's not all , an old lady cleaning the dinner was the one who actually made the effort to acknowledge me. She was a dishwasher I believe smh. She took my drink order and went go grab it. I ordered a beer. Then finally 10 minutes later the waitress walks up to me as if I just had sat down to take my order. I tried ordering the steak and lobster. Well guess what ? It's not available until after 5 pm lol. Well maybe you should advertise that on the signs outside smh. Anyways I ordered the ribeye with shrimp. In all honesty the food was decent. "You get what you pay for." Our meal here was a prime example of this ol' adage. Driving into Elko, my eye caught the huge billboard advertising $11.99 prime rib! Oh what?! After some cajoling, I convinced the five others in my group to join me. The hostess advised us there was a thirty minute wait. Ok no prob. We circled around the casino and dropped a few bucks. Finally seated and hungry, we ordered drinks, then food. I asked our server, Ron, what medium rare vs medium was like here and he said medium rare is just sliced as-is and not warmed. What does that even mean? Medium it is then. Here is the lowdown: 1. It took forever for us to get our food! Other parties that were seated after us got their food, ate and left before we were served ours. 2. The prime rib was not medium. It was well done because it had been sitting under the heating lamp for so long. It was dry and tough. My bf ordered his medium rare and it was also well done. I didn't even bother asking to box leftovers, and I never do that. 3. The accompanying frozen veggies were so mushy, I couldn't even pick them up with a fork without them falling to pieces. 4. I usually don't call people out, but this was kind of crazy. Our server slammed the service door open TWICE because he was so PO'ed about something. Totally uncalled for, whatever the situation might be and really made us feel uncomfortable asking for anything lest we get some of that wrath. We were never asked about drink refills, we didn't get the shrimp we initially ordered when our entrees finally did arrive and the kids ate their chicken tenders with ketchup because it took forever to even ask for the ranch it was supposed to come with. This restaurant inside the Gold Dust West Casino across from the airport has some pretty good deals. Their motto is "Only in Elko", where they offer prime steak and shrimp starting at 18.99. There are 5 steak choices with the better steaks costing a little more. I ate here on my first night in town because I wasn't feeling any of the other offerings in town. Many of the restaurants ae basque style and it's hard to find a good ole American steak. I tried the cap steak (one of the two steaks that are 18.99) and shrimp. It comes with a baked potato, veggie and a soup or salad. It wasn't gourmet by any means but will satisfy your hunger. Since it's the fatty part of the ribeye, there was gristle you will need to trim off, but the overall flavor of the steak is good. The loaded baked potato was excellent, can't say much for the veggies, they were just steamed too much and soggy. Although they give you real butter for the roll, it's pretty hard. Like other reviewers indicate, there is some smoke in the restaurant since it's open air with the casino, but it's not too bad. read more

I'm used to casino diners serving pretty much whatever whenever, so it threw me for a loop first time I visited when I found out they have a STRICT lunch start time of 11, I got there at 10:40 and they told me I had to sit on my hands for 20 min if I wanted a burger. Also apparently don't have corned beef hash after 8 am, I got the basic breakfast just to get some kind of thing to eat. Eggs hash browns and toast were ok, don't bother with the hot link tho, it was salty n' stiff, maybe the worst one I've ever had. The prices are a little better than usual for decent diners tho, at about $10 per meal. On a second try I got my burger and it's a good value at that price, fries are the usual Cisco bag and ok, but maybe upgrade to onion rings since its cheap anyway. read more

Wow! $15 prime rib and $22 steak and lobsters! You can't beat this price. Here's my review on the food: Prime rib: the meat is tender and very good. They tend to overcook, so order medium rare when you want medium. Steak and lobster: the lobster is delicious! The steak, however, is very dry and rough. Nacho chips: very cheap and served cheap... some nachos chips with Luke warm chicken and some Tostitos nacho cheese. We probably had 3-4 bites and left the rest on the table. Even sent 90 percent of my club sandwich back and still ended up with a bad reaction that only slka seller could fix. My servers name was. Julie. She was AWESOME. My food's name was 9.99 Prime Rib Special. It was GREAT! I'll just cut to the chase here. I went in because of the billboard and I wasn't disappointed. Was this some high class fancy dancy meal for $9.99? No. Do not delude yourself. However the cut of meat was good (check my photo) and the potato was perfect! (Not just because of the butter.) My service was spot on too! I've spend way more for a meal and gotten the complete opposite of service too. I probably will go back while I am in Elko on assignment. The smoke really wasn't noticeable, but I'm sure on a busy night it might get a little bad. So for this meal 4.1 stars. Just a little note though. The restaurant is on the east side of the building if you want to not walk through the casino. And I am really surprised they didn't require a club card to get the meal. Why did I give them 5 stars? Last two weeks the service was way below standard. Last week we were seated and waited for over 15 minutes for a server to ask for our drink orders. After we ordered we saw other people seated and get their drink orders delivered before we got ours. Then we got to wait for about half an hour before we got our food orders. This week we tried again. The lady that seated us was really friendly and brought our drink orders right away, after waiting for 15 minutes we asked if there was a server working our area. When the server did come out and take our order she acted like we were bothering her by being there. After we finished eating we had to get another server to go in the kitchen to get our bill. It was food. Headed home to Utah, saw the billboards advertising 8.99 prime rib. Comes with soup or salad, nothing special blue cheese was just cafeteria at best. Wife had the tortilla soup flavorless and luke warm. Nuked potato but barely warm on service, prime rib was pan warmed or cook used the salamander to bring to room temperature. Mixed vegetables from same cafeteria vendor. You should never have to add salt to an au ju to impart flavor. Beef broth? At least the coffee was warm. Change vendors and hire a chef that understands the use of spices. As the old saying goes you get what you pay for, cheap always disappoints. read more

Arrived at 6:30 pm at restraunt. Noone had any communication with me or other people waiting . At 6;35pm a gentleman walked right past me and others standing and waiting and was seated immediately with no explanation to me or others. Due to no communication the other people waiting quickly became agitated. When it came to be my turn to be seated I was walked to a table without being asked if I would like to be seated at a booth or table. I had to ask for a booth. She walked me to a dirty unsanitary  booth and asked for me to stand by it while it's cleaned. Good note is the waiter did introduce themselves and was very kind. My order. Prime rib well done with French fries and a side salad. The salad was a little dry but other wise good  the prime rib came out good but no knife to cut it . Fries were a little burnt empty soda set at 7:03 pm at 7:04 I was checked on . Now the view on our co ID safety. All works were wearing masks but I did notice there was no hand sanitizer in the reach of someone check out . So you would be touching a dirty keypad and then other things. I do believe hand sanitizer would be a good thing to place there for your customers. Overall 7 out of 10 for overall service Also final note . I am staying at the Hampton inn so most convenient for sure. Service is great and very attentive. Food is minimal as again 3 meals here. Tried the filet tonight and triggered the 2 star. Tough as shoe leather tonight. I consumed the steak due to hunger but not good. Maybe better later so do not discount. read more

This place is definitely off the list. They have the worst service then when you do get seated the waitress will complain about how short handed she is and she's all flustered. We are patient people and don't mind waiting for our food. But when she doesn't bring me my food when it's ready and let's it sit under the lamp forever and the lettuce on top is all soggy and wilted I don't appreciated it. And the girl at the cashier does nothing to help and she'll pretend she doesn't see you so won't make eye contact as you wait to be seated. Since Elko is a wasteland of restaurants, my wife and I decided to try something new. Based on reviews, we went to The Grille on a Saturday night and were promptly seated. The ambiance was a bit bright and the atmosphere made it feel like any other cafe in any other casino. I had seen the billboards for the $9.99 prime rib so I ordered that while my wife got the pot roast. We also had pretzel sticks and cheese as an appetizer. Our waitress was either a bit flaky or very new since she kept to a very strict routine instead of actually interacting with us. Many times she would wait on tables around us but never look over, especially when we wanted more drinks. The prime rib was THE smallest prime rib I have ever seen in my life but then again, I'm only paying $9.99 so I shouldn't expect much. It did have good flavor and the fresh beans were ok but very over cooked. My wife's pot roast was smothered in gravy which was salty, telling me that it was from a can. Glad the gravy was there because the pot roast was incredibly dry. Overall, the food quality to dollar cost was a good value but I'd rather spend a little more money elsewhere and get higher quality. The service was extremely slow, especially when our waitress said she would bring our ticket and it took another fifteen minutes for her to do so. I would probably not go back since it is just average food at average prices. If I want that, I'll go to Denny's. read more

I wish I could give half star the "food and drink manager" Madi I believe it was, refused to accept any criticism about the food and said "I suggest you leave" they didn't make us pay which I am grateful for however the prime rib dinner we ordered all 3 were cold not to mention we ordered a simple glass of milk. The grille is hit or miss. (More often than not lately it's a Miss) they can't seem to keep employees. I only go here now and then because of the convenience of where I stay while working in Elko. Often times the food is bland, over cooked, or sometimes it looks like they are running out of food and they are rationing portions. This is the restaurant in the Gold Dust West casino. Honestly, the food wasn't that great. It's standard casino cafe fare. This is no fine dining restaurant. On the other hand, steak and shrimp was only $15 and I left feeling like a beached whale. The service was great right up until we had to check out. Took them forever to get our tabs figured out.
