Unlike other similar Latino-ish cafeteria-style establishments (e.g., Chipotle, QDoba) there are no plant-based proteins, but they do have three different choices of beans so it was all good. The server offered to run our food through the toaster and that was fun. As mentioned before, service was very good. The food was fairly tasty, but was overpriced for the quantity. I wound up paying nearly nine bucks for a little bowl of beans, rice, and lettuce. My biggest complaint, however, was they charged ten cents for water. Really? Even McDonalds gives away a cup of water for free. The manager needs to think of the loss of goodwill that the ten cents costs. read more

This was my second time eating here and I chose to order the sweet pork burrito with sauce on top. I'm pretty sure I got the same thing the time before. To start this time was much quicker, I think the last time I was here I arrived right behind an entire sports team. The staff was friendly but not too efficient making the burritos, the person doing the toppings kept taking her gloves of to ring up each person individually instead of making a couple burritos at a time and then ringing everyone up. Not an issue but still waited around a bit longer than I was expecting to. The burrito's are huge! Mine lasted for dinner, a late night snack and the next days breakfast. The sweet pork had a good flavor and was cooked nicely. The shell wasn't soggy or dried out and there were good portions of everything inside of the burrito. Costa Vida is similar to your other fast food Mexican places and I will always consider it an option when looking for this style of food/burrito. read more

They were very slow, and I asked for extra meat and proceeded to get the normal portion of meat and still got charged for extra meat. Wow. I'm stunned to be writing this. I went to Costa and there was this very kind family, they were patient with the worker when he said he'd be with him in one moment. He was with his family and one of his kids to seemed have some disability. They proceeded to order their food again being very kind. The kid wanted to order on his own the dad picked him up. The worker his name was Andrew as it said on is name tag, started yelling when he couldn't hear the poor kid. He then proceeded to be AWFUL to this poor family. The family seemed upset and left with out taking their trays. He made a fuss about that too. I get the food industry is hard but come on dude. You are a GROWN MAN. Act like it. I was stunned to say the least. He was very rude to me as well. Not good customer service from this guys. Everyone else was great. Pretty sure he was a manager too tho. Food was great as always tho. I used to love this place and go almost weekly. The last few times it has been terrible. About a year ago I quit going as much because something black and slimy was in my salad when I got back to my office. I called and they refunded me and added some points to my account. Took a hiatus and finally went back a couple month ago. The food has been meh. The place is always a mess with dirty tables and out of order signs on the soda machine. Went last night and found a bug in my food. Took it up to the counter and they offered to remake my meal and basically said oops. No thanks. Hard pass. I want my money back and my points back. The did that, but so nonchalant about a bug in my food. They had 5 workers behind the counter and the line was a mess. Sauces spilled all over, cheese everywhere, stopped the line to make more tortillas. It was a shit show in there. Won't be back to this location again. read more

Very dissatisfied with this location. We came in 40 minutes to closing time and all the chairs were up on the table as if they were closed. The chips, the tortillas, the queso. So bad. The kids running this place are clearly unhappy and not interested is any customer service. First time trying this chain. Can't say I'm entirely unhappy about this place. It could not be considered a real taqueria because meats like cabeza and lengua are not on the menu. It's one of those build your own type of restaurants. The shredded beef was the special for today, the beef had good flavor, the rice they used was converted rice(which should not be used for this dish) you had you pick of beans, black, pinto or refried. Then choice of toppings once they wrapped it, like cheese, chili verde, tomatillo, enchilada. They run it through a salamander to heat then finish it off with salsa, lettuce, guac, sour cream, cilantro or others. Pretty good, but no comparison to a real taqueria. read more

Since opening in Elko, I've been here numerous times. Because it's fairly new (and one of the few places open later and on Sundays), it can be busy at times. However, the past two times I've gone in, the lines have been very reasonable. I've found that the hold-up is usually at the cash register as they only ever have one open and it can take a while to ring everything up and pay. Their food is always fresh and you can watch the tortillas being pressed and cooked at the beginning of the line. You have your option of whole wheat or flour tortillas (corn or flour if you are getting enchiladas or tacos). You have your choice of black, pinto, or refried beans with most entrees (and most of them come with cilantro-lime rice). Meats include grilled chicken, raspberry chicken, steak, grilled shrimp (on some options) sweet pork, shredded beef, and vegetarian (I may be forgetting some, so you might want to look on their website). Entrees include burritos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, tacos, and salads. All of their hot entrees go through a warmer which is something I've never seen done at other similar places. A few things that I dislike. They charge extra for sour cream and guacamole for any entree (even vegetarian options when I feel like the guac should be free) and charge for side salsa if it's not included (like on the quesadillas). Also, they give the option of smothered burritos (sauce and cheese on top) for $0.99. However, their raspberry chicken burritos come smothered in the raspberry sauce (they say that's how they make them), but still charge you the $0.99 for the smother. I feel like if that's how they are taught to make it (and usually don't give you the option), then the customer shouldn't be charged for it. Also, I would like to see more options for the inside of burritos (such as having a salsa option to be put inside the burritos). However, I have to say that I like this place and will continue to go there to eat. It is somewhat expensive, but the food is all fresh and it's worth it to have a place to eat in Elko that's in between fast food and sit down. read more

Food is good, soda machine is broken. No ice and the soda is coming out almost flat, like there are almost no bubbles. I had to stop at a gas station down the street to get some ice, but then the soda was completely flat.... And warm. Good food, just bring your own drinks and ice. read more
