Otay Lakes location is a great facility, unfortunately before noon housekeeping in totally awful no soap, paper towels, toilet paper and seat covers, but there's always something missing, specially AM. If you get there by afternoon everything gets replenished... I just use swimming pool, but by 1pm they have kids swimming lessons. Used to be a nice relaxing atmosphere, but since they started with swimming classes it feel like a 'community pool' And last but not least... kids use the pool as bathroom, sometimes they poop and not until they clean it again is available for use. Cleaning guy is only available Tuesday, Thursday's and they couldn't reach him over weekends. Today... right after pool was cleaned, a kid threw up in the pool. Moms, use ladies showers, bathrooms, lockers it's insane and crazy loud. Who ever got that idea, please STOP having kids or at least less days, since Monday is the ONLY day without kids. read more

We don't come here often since it's usually pretty busy, but stopping in on a Saturday late afternoon was perfect! They've made noticeable improvements, including new StairMaster machines, which I really appreciate. The cleaning wipe stations are also much better stocked than before, when they'd often be empty. Both the men's and women's locker rooms have saunas. My husband says the men's side is generally pretty gross and has a lingering smell, but I've found the women's side to be clean and well-maintained, with nothing off-putting about the sauna experience. read more

I've been very disappointed with this LA Fitness location. Many of the weight machines are old, heavily rusted, and poorly maintained. Some adjustment mechanisms are so rusted that they get stuck, making it impossible to set the machine to the correct position. This isn't just inconvenient--it's a safety hazard. The cardio equipment is also in bad shape. You'll often clean a machine before using it, only to find out it's out of order. Several of the screens are loose, outdated, or barely functional. For the amount members pay, the gym should invest in maintaining and replacing worn-out equipment. A fitness center should be clean, safe, and have working machines. Unfortunately, this location feels neglected and in desperate need of repairs and upgrades. read more

This gym is in precarious shape. Dirty, old and poorly maintained. It has been at least 3 weeks with NO AC. Months with not enough weights so now some of the people in class have to bring their own 10 lb weights and prob 7.5 lbs too. Not enough weights for the whole class; lights do not turn off in the class room( it is not fun for yoga classes.) Are the floors ever swept??! If it wasn't for coach Nancy's class, I would take my money elsewhere. ,this corporation needs to invest in maintenance instead of the $$$$ pilates rooms, " glute" and soon another dumb $$$$ new private taking away the racquetball courts. No employees make sure the premises are at least clean and sanitized, i wonder how this place can possibly comply with OSHA regulations. The decline at this L.A. Fitness is simply embarrassing for this corporation. One more thing: Can the zumba instructors coach the AM people who take the class to re rack the weights correctly and to leave the room as soon as their class finishes instead of hanging out, taking pictures and being oblivious?! Had a terrible experience at this location on July 15 around 7:45 PM. We came in with our daughter after being told by an LA Fitness agent that she could check out the facility before joining. I'm listed as a plus one under my wife's membership. Employee Gilbert was rude and completely dismissive, refusing to let our daughter in unless we paid a $20 guest fee even after we explained the situation. His attitude was unprofessional and made us feel completely unwelcome. As a retired U.S. Navy veteran, I've never experienced such disrespect at a gym. We were seriously considering canceling the membership because of how we were treated. This is NOT the environment LA Fitness claims to promote. This is my first visit to this location as I was visiting from out of town. The gym was clean, and the receptionist was extremely friendly. The only downside to this gym is, I noticed that the cardio equipment needs to be replaced. Several other machines are outdated and display rust. read more

My first time at LAF. I did registration late in the morning and came in in the afternoon to check it out. I scanned my membership, and the person at the front desk didn't bother asking if it was my first time or if I had any questions. I looked around, and there were many machines to choose from, which is nice. I decided to get on the treadmill. There were so many buttons to choose from. While trying to figure out which button would give me the better results, I settled on "Quick start". I normally walk about an hour or more at a pace of under 12 minutes per mile and love hills. Looking at the options. The max amount of time was 30 minutes, and the speed was 4.5 miles per hour, which is slower than my normal pace. After I pressed start, I noticed that the band was going a little bit fast for me. I only have the use of one arm and was thinking, " How do I make this machine stop so I can reset it?" I looked down and saw that I could place my feet on both sides of the rail. I was able to put my left foot out. But when I attempted to put my right foot out, I slipped and fell. No one bothered asking if I was OK. I don't even know if anybody saw me fall. For all I know, everybody's into their own workouts and there's no spotters. I got back on my feet. I was able to restart the treadmill at a slower pace and finish the 30-minute workout. I took my time to look around the building for other exercise machines, and for some reason, I was not able to figure out how to start any of them. I started to walk out. I was back in the front and glanced to see the swimming pool. I asked the person at the front desk, " How do you get in there?" He replied, "Through the locker room." Then I asked where the locker room was. He pointed to the back of the building, and I went back to figure out how to get into the pool. I got a text message from Jeremy, asking me if I took advantage of all the perks offered at LAF. I figured that he would be a good person to show me around and teach me how to use the machines. I replied that the next time he was at the gym to let me know, and I would go there so he can show me. I'm still waiting for his reply. read more

I have been coming to this gym since it's inception here in the South Bay. First, bathrooms are FILTHY always and i understand why; members are sloppy. Two the TV in locker room never on to see ESPN sports. Was told by LAZY gym recruiter's that they know nothing about this but are showing new prospects how great locker room is. Hence I found out on my own that Tv is broken. Walmart just blocks away. Finally, ownership doesn't CARE about members unfortunately. Please please people speak up. HOOKED!! I initially joined the gym at the National City location. However, last year, I attended my first spin class with ANGELES in Chula Vista, I immediately made the switch to the Eastlake location. I have been attending her classes for over a year and love them! She is a great instructor and takes the time to create a different routine and switches up the music for each class. I also appreciate the inspiration and motivation that she provides to all members. Her classes are fun and trust me they can be challenging even for the regulars like myself! If you haven't tried her spin classes, I would totally recommend you do!! read more

Terrible experience tonight Sep10, 2025! I've been a member for 3 years!! I pay extra to take my son to the childcare. My wife and I do the same routine every time we come - our son goes to the childcare, after our 2-hr workout, my wife picks him up and comes over to the front of the racquetball courts while I finish the game I'm in. Tonight, Gilbert, apparently saw my wife and son waiting for me to leave. He then went and told another employee to tell my wife and son they had to leave the area. Considering he saw my wife and son and walked right past them, shows that he can't handle himself well enough in a professional manner to take care of the situation the way he should have. He went and sent some other worker to handle it. Hope he's not getting paid to be a manager because he's not acting like one. read more

Instead, I was charged $100 for two months at $50/month, plus an unexpected $60 yearly fee that was never disclosed to me beforehand. They denied ever saying that and offered to reimburse the $60 yearly fee due to the misunderstanding--but that reimbursement never happened. When I called back a few weeks later, I was told they no longer worked there. I called and spoke with a manager who was extremely rude and said they would not refund anything. I have been a member for over a year now. I go to the Eastlake gym on Tues and Thursday and the National City gym on Monday, Wed, Friday. Both instructors that teach Silver Sneakers are great. The gripe I have is now there are too many people. I don't know what is going on but now its become stressful instead of fun. The main problem are the lack of chairs in both gyms. Also, I arrive10-15 minutes earlier than the class as do some of my pals and other women who get there later walk right in front of you as you try to enter. It is so annoying but really who wants to fight with someone about that? Also, I have noticed that the class before our class those women stay and grab the chairs so now its even less chairs for the people waiting for the class. I think the only solution is for them to have extra classes. That would be ideal. read more

This is for personal trainer. Very high turnover. My son signed up for 6 months person trainer with Eddie Esparza director, with many promises and he quit right after my son signed up. Within two months 3 more personal trainer quit while working with my son during that time frame, Anthony , Christ and Timmothy no show, no text, no response. Timothy quit after one week. My son scheduled with him but he quit on the first lesson. New personal director Feven, she has no glues what going on, be careful think is twice before dealing with them. Angeles cycling class is excellent. She has amazing energy and always comes in with a great attitude that motivates you from the very first minute. The music she plays is fantastic and keeps the whole session flowing with great rhythm. Her class is fun, dynamic, and you can tell she truly enjoys what she does. She's always attentive to everyone in the room, correcting posture, encouraging us, and making sure each person gives their best. Definitely one of the best cycling instructors. read more

LA Fitness (Chula Vista, CA) Let me start this review by noting that I am not an active member of this LA Fitness Gym. But when I'm in town and too lazy to drive 30+ minutes to my gym, this is where you'll find me. Day Pass is between $20-$25. This gym has been around a long time and is equipped with the things you will find at most commercial gyms (i.e., weights, machines, cardio, pool, etc.). The first floor is where you'll find the locker rooms, classes, pool, racquetball courts, machines, free-weights, and the basketball court. The second floor is all cardio. What I like about this gym is the old school equipment, the gym vibe (people work hard here), and convenience to my parent's home. I also enjoy my interaction with the staff and gym-goers at the gym. Customer service is awesome, and the gym is very clean. My only issue is the hours at this gym. This is not a 24-hour location and the hours during the weekends are even shorter. read more

I have been coming to la fitnesss since 2013 and will say has been one of my favorite gyms since it's near my house and don't have to drive far. I like the hours of operation here Monday through Friday they open at 5am. I'm an early bird and like to workout early before I start my day. I was injured for 1 year from my lower back and it feels so good to be back in the gym today. The gym is very clean and most people clean up after them selves which allows me to do more workouts with a timely manner. Highly recommend and great friendly staffs. The expectations here are above and beyond worth the visit. The gym is very busy in the morning which motivates me to get more workouts done. My favorite part is the sauna room especially after workouts feels so good. read more

The conditions of this LA fitness are horrendous. I can gather more pictures of the bathrooms if necessary. Usually the trash is over filled, and the urinals/ bathrooms are disgusting. It's a shame. Once the female manager leaves for the day , it seems like the staff just has a free for all. She needs to audit their duties and responsibilities. I can't believe I pay $40 a month for this. I had to cancel my membership because of how dishonest they are. I was offered a tour and 3 day pass to see if I liked the gym so I came in and the gave me a tour and never activated my 3 day pass and instead asked which membership I liked. The gym seemed nice so I got a membership for $44, it was almost $90 the first month after all the fees.. The next month rolls around and I'm expecting at $44 charge and they charged me over $59! It's just too sneaky, dishonest and they have a lot of hidden fees. Not worth it read more

I have been a loyal La Fitness member for roughly 27 years! I now have children and enjoy utilizing the kids club when I come for my group fitness classes in the evening after work and on weekends. With all the craziness of the day to day shuffle I get one hour to myself to relax and recharge. However as of late my time enjoying these classes is being rudely interrupted by the kids zone staff blowing my phone up via text and calls asking that I need to come pick my child up 5 min before my class ends??? Thus ruining MY time that I pay for and have all these years. When I do yoga the last 5 min is the best! Why on earth they schedule classes that are 1 hour yet are hounding me to leave MY class 5 minutes early? This has been such an interruption to my time at La Fitness. I do not want to be bothered while I am working out or be asked to leave early from my scheduled class. I finish my class and go directly to pick up my child yet still being hounded is not right. Sounds like you need to update your time slots to allow us busy moms to actually finish an entire hour class that I have earned! I went in with a 3 day pass I acquired online to try out this gym. The front desk told me I had to wait and the general manager, Sepher, came over. He was extremely rude and pushing me to sign up for a membership. He told me I could not use the free 3 day pass and asked me to pay $20 to workout for 1 day or to pay $60 cash for 1 month, which I declined. He then told me to leave and I couldn't use the pass. I went to this gym for yeaaars and was nice overall. Here are the issues: First - they shifted their opening hours to much later. 8AM on the weekend is way too late. Second - the cleaning crew always hoses down the sauna benches during peak hours. Not only is this inconvenient but it's also not how you clean a sauna which is why they have to close it all the time to rebuild it. Third - every other modern/commercial gym in this day and age has squat rack platforms with bumper weights for deadlifts, etc. Get with the times. I'll rejoin if they fix these things someday but I chose to join another gym with better hours and equipment. read more

Pro Zumba: Paulo, Donna and Robbie are amazing and all have a following of individuals. There is a community in these classes of individuals that have been practicing together for some time. They have fun. Smiling, laughing and dancing. Sometimes I go in not in the best of spirits and I leave with a smile on my face. The positive energy in these classes is contagious. Pro Yoga: There are some very good yoga instructors at this facility. Eleana, Beatriz and Nancy are very good. Eleana and Beatric teach a Level I and Level II Vinyasa. Nancy teaches a restorative gentle class. These classes have helped me as I recover from surgeries and work toward teaching yoga again. Con: A self proclaimed "Club" is allowed to violate gym rules and come in to reserve 8-10 spaces for themselves an hour before class starts in some yoga classes. No one else is allowed to reserve even one space for a friend to practice next to them. This causes conflict among other class members. Con: Broken glass shards were allowed to exist outside the yoga/zumba activity room for 3-4 days after the glass was broken from the racquetball court wall. (In spite of being warned it was there) These glass shards were then tracked inside the yoga/zumba room where people practice and walk around barefoot. read more

Walked in to LA Fitness and was greeted by Gabriel who was able to get me a gym pass. He was extremely professional, respectful of my time, and understood the fact I needed a gym pass. I've been going to this gym for a couple of years now, and they've made very few updates to the facility. They only recently replaced the Stairmaster machines a couple of months ago. They should be upgrading all of the cardio machines as they are very old and make a lot of noise (especially the ellipticals). Poway was recently remodeled, so when will that be happening here? We pay a lot of money to go here, and the South Bay gyms are all pretty bad. read more

Great gym, clean, staff is great, I like how everything is laid out, they have so many equipment and extra activities you can do. I like how they positioned weights and machines on the first floor and cardio machines on the second floor. They have a swimming pool which is a good size for my work out. I've come at this gym during lunch time, a little past lunch time in the afternoon and late night and so far it's always been so packed! I would suggest more benches but I don't think there would be enough space for it! Nonetheless this gym is great! I like working out here. read more

Now that it's been a week I have been attending this location I can see some discrepancies. The weights are always all over the place and not re-racked. People tend to not have very good gym etiquette and they drop the weights on the ground. The annoying part is when it comes time to clean the equipment you just used, the station with wipes usually are out. Sunday workout ... 1st Sunday here at this gym and was very disappointed. I've been here during the week and it hasn't been this filthy. I step foot in the gym and lots of dirty paper towels all over the floor and customers workout cans. There were 4-5 reps "working" meaning no customers just literally on their cell phones behind their desks. The least the could have done was pick up after people and make the gym a safe, clean, and inviting place to workout. I went to the stair masters and they were only about 5-6 and most were under repair. The one that was open had tons of sweat all over it. I walked over to get paper towels and cleaning solution ...EMPTY!!!!! There was no other cleaning station on 1st floor of gym so I went to front desk. I asked the rep- Alex if he or any of the workers sitting could refill the paper towels and solution. In the meantime I asked for paper towels and solution behind the desk for me to use. That bottle of solution too was nearly empty literally had 2 squirts so ended up putting water and wiping the machine down with that. Gross! Long story short. After an hour and half of working out and me keeping an eye on the workers to actually see if they were going to fill it sure enough they DID NOT. I left the gym letting Alex know that the entire time I've been there there was still no solution or paper towels and gym still looked filthy. Check my photos! read more
