I have been to quite a few different LA Fitnesses and I seriously thought considering this one is located in Duluth, it would be much better, but it is downright the worst one I have been to as of yet. To start my background is in health and wellness and managing gyms. So I observe a lot more than your average consumer. I came here on a free paper pass the other day and walked right. I scanned it and walked right in. No one said anything and the person at the front desk was not paying attention, maybe they were in a group video conference? if they were, they should have been sitting in the other desks and someone else should have been managing the front. I walk in and do my routine. This gym appears on the outside to be about the same as your typical LA Fitness, but the inside is smaller. There is no upstairs and their machines are scattered throughout the floor. I noticed that some of the life fitness cable assembles are starting to fail... these need to be replaced immediately... this is what leads to injury... They have two magnetic rowing machines here and both of them are broken. I noticed in the personal training section they have another two. Do they work? Surprised, but not really... is sanitizing. Why do they not have sanitizing stations throughout the gym? get some spray bottles and towels so that people can wipe down the equipment when they are done using it. I checked out the pool. It did appear clean and two members were using it. The hot tub was filthy and green. Why don't they empty the water, use a pressure washer and refill it? this is unacceptable. The following day I came in with my spouse and she scanned her keycard, and I scanned my free paper pass, and walk-in... and as I got near the locker room the GM came storming at us saying we were not members, didn't scan in, and are using a free pass.. Which one is it? Mind you my wife is a paying member and yes, I am using a free paper pass as previously mentioned. The GM mentioned because I am on a free paper pass that I have to sign a waiver. That is correct, so I signed it... but the previous day I did not. Here is the problem. This place is not properly managed and because the front staff are not managing the front, almost anyone can just walk in and exercise and could get injured. This is a liability and I know something corporate could/would/ possibly terminate someone over. Why is this happening? The problem you have is you have a fitness club being managed by someone without a degree in managing fitness clubs, or any exercise science degree, or any degree at all. The General Manager of Duluth is Carlos, he told me he would call and follow up with me, but never did. I'll never understand why LA Fitness has people operating their facilities who lack communication and who could care less about reaching out to potential new members. In summary, choose another club. I trusted LA Fitness at Pleasant Hill location to provide kid club service for my son while I have a quick workout before go to work. I paid 2 months in advance for this service. No prior details were provided to me about emergency closing of kid club on Saturday. Also, LA Fitness did not let me know about on 3 locations have kid club service. Management did not make any effort to alert me about their emergency closing when they don't have staff available. I paid 2 months service in advance for kid club access from Monday through Saturday, but now I do not have access to the service. Finally, they don't offer any refund for the days they closed. They only provide a phone number to contact, which only opens from M to F during business hours. DO NOT TRUST LA Fitness as a brand name business (gym) any more. This location needs new management and employees. I just tried to go today at 8:20 am and the gym was not open yet. Several patrons were waiting outside while it was raining. I waited 10 mins til 8:30 am and no one opened the gym. This gym has constant problems with cleanliness and available equipment (ie. Bars for bench and sqaut.).   This is the 4th time I've seen the gym not open on time on the weekend in the past 6 months. I only come here for the classes because my other gym I'm a member of doesn't currently offer as many classes. Serious downfall of this location is the front desk. The majority of people at the front desk , honestly the female staff with one exception, don't greet you when you come in. This gym. I don't believe they have a cleaning system in place or any type of organization with their free weights. Staff seems to be distracted on their phones or completely uninterested. It's really frustrating because they could put in a little more effort and make the gym better, but I don't see that happening. I found a used bandaid on the floor at 5am. Wow. This gym is so bad. It's not the regular workers at fault, this is a management problem. There is a culture at this gym that makes it acceptable for the members to not give a shit about the cleanliness of the gym or the state of the equipment. I have been going to the Johns Creek location for the past couple of years and never had any issues. This week I started going to this location and I was shocked at the state of this LA fitness. They ought to be ashamed of themselves tbh. I'm a morning workout person so I come as soon as the gym opens. The people who work out at night have not put a single piece of equipment back where it goes. This includes the personal training area. There are medicine balls everywhere in the free weight area. 45 lb plates strewn all over the floor everywhere you look. Fully loaded barbells on the ground. Zero respect. I'm pretty pissed off but I don't know what to do. It's so annoying when you have to add in fifteen minutes to your morning because some asshole didn't learn to put thing back in their place in kindergarten. I frequent this gym and enjoy going there, however, this weekend I realized how gross it is there. With a pandemic going on, you would think they'd be taking extra care of the place, but that's not the case. Here are some things I noticed: * Almost all the hand sanitizer stations are empty. * There's only one sink that has soap in the woman's room. * I went there one day and saw a water bottle on the floor, next to a machine and dirty paper towels stuffed into another machine. No biggie at first, people forget things. The very next day, that water bottle and paper towels were still there! That means the place was not cleaned overnight. Gross! So be extra careful going there. Wash your hands! read more

Amidst the whole COVID 19 crisis this gym fails to deliver. First off they couldn't even provide adequate amounts of sanitation spray bottles for all guests to use. The excuse at the front desk is "we are all out" then the social distancing is just all messed up. The maximum number of ppl allowed at the basketball court is 50 at any given time...50?!?! There's not even enough room for 50 ppl on that small court. Overall they're just not taking the corona virus serious. They just need to learn how to assess the situation better and manage accordingly. Make people wear masks while working out. read more

I'm just going to go straight to the point I hate going to this gym. Service is poor, it's small and always packed. The employees look like they don't want to be there (granted it's work, but it's customer service. I've worked in the industry, what do you expect.) One night, my boyfriend and I went to workout and it was near closing time. They wanted to play in the basketball court until it closed at 11pm. One of the front desk workers came and told us it's closing time (WHICH we know, we're not idiots. yall announce it every 15 min overhead in the last hour) but we had about 5 minutes left. For some reason, the chick just stood in the door staring at us until we left. As soon as we were leaving, she left. We were walking out we passed her by and my boyfriend just wanted to be nice and said "Have a good night!" and she just gave this NASTY UGLY GLARE at him. Like wtf. Sometimes I come to this La Fitness, but it's always so crowded on the treadmills and the machines for your abs , but the setup looks cool. There are two areas with mats with fairly not so bad. It is pretty tiny though, and there isn't a place to get a snack or smoothie; just a vending machine lol. It's just very condense in a weird way lol. I went in to inquire about signing up and was offered a free week's pass to try it out and see how I like it. ...But not before spending 30 minutes bombarded with a ton of questions about why I'm there and my goals. The questions were so intense that I felt that they would have been more appropriate if being asked by a personal trainer that I hired. But that's ok. I understand that is their procedure. All I'm saying is that it may have been more productive and have taken less time, to simply let me know the pricing and the perks of being a member. The part that I don't get, is after telling the representative that I don't weigh myself, but I use the "clothing method" due to personal stress and anxiety. ..him pressuring me into weighing in and checking my bmi. If only I knew that the intention of this procedure was actually a sales tactic. The rep then explained to me how unhealthy I am and that my body fat percentage is so bad that I am at risk of one or all of their typed up list of sicknesses. Of course that's when they decided to hit me with how reasonable it is to sign up that day. I finally thought that I was finished being harassed, when the general manager came up and asked several questions that the representative already had. Then he asked the rep "Did you tell her about our prices?" Hello mister micro manager, but "yes" your representative already bombarded me with his speel. I genuinely feel as though all that establishment believes in, is gaining members by any means possible. Hopefully, someone working there gives this a read and coaches their staff (including management) to "tone it down" a notch. I have been to 8 different LA Fitness locations in the past month. This one is among the best. Pros: There is usually available cardio equipment, unless it is exactly six PM. This place is awesome late on a weekend night as it is very empty and feel big. Cons: The socialize factor here is above average which I find annoying. Middle: Getting a bench is easier here than a lot of other places. Getting squat racks here is medium. TBD: I have not been here as much as some other locations, and never swam or played basketball for example. Overall, this is a pretty good spot but I don't come that often because if traffic on 85 is moving I want to keep going. read more

I like this location the most, make me feel comfortable and everyone works here is your friend. I found a good personal training program, my trainer, James, is tough but it really works out. I introduced my friend here and he always nice to them. Very clean and has what I need. New to the area so thought I would out the OTP La Fitness situation, and it is SO much cleaner than ITP. No foul smell. Plenty of weight options, both free and machine. I definitely plan to use this location more. Staff were friendly with me, not sure about other reviews. And just getting a membership with "Lifetime fitness" I have continuously brought the attention to managers in this club that the men's sauna room reeks. Like it smells disgusting in there. I came here on opening day to check out the services provided. I've been waiting to come here because it is extremely close to my house and will be very convenient for me to get back on track. Since it was the first day open, I wasn't expecting too many people. There were about 50-75 other people exercising alerady so once the word gets out that it's open, it'll be busy. The facility is fairly large. They dedicated most of their space for weights and cardio equipment. There's a pool immediately to the left as you enter and the kids zone to the right. The cardio area is on the right after you pass the reception area. There's also 2 rooms on the right just beyond the cardio area for group fitness. One seems to set up for spin class. Free weights are straight back. There's a basketball court with a volleyball net separating the two halves of the court to the back left. There's a stretching area on the left before the court. Standard LA fitness locker room. For those that don't know, there is a sauna located inside. Everything was clean, as expected for just opening. One thing I noticed is that there is only one set of water fountains located by the locker rooms and one in the pool area. I didn't notice any vending machines or that juice area that they had advertised. If you didn't bring your own drink, there could be a bottleneck in this area. Also, I was really hoping for racquetball courts at this location. (Pretty sure a rep told me that there would be one here.) If there was one, then the entrance is located very awkwardly and I some how missed it. Good place. Very convenient off the interstate. Hopefully all the locations won't be as crowded with this one open. read more

The environment is clean and weights are almost always racked appropriately. I workout in the morning mostly and the atmosphere feels like family the team works hard to keep it clean and take care of any issues that pop up. Bathroom stalls are rusting out or latches not working, sauna room floor has a major hole in the concrete. I've been a member at this Sports Club location for over a year. I prefer this local over other LA Fitness facilities. The facility is pretty clean. The equipment is well maintained. The air quality is good; no funky smells and or odors that I've experienced at other facilities. I've noticed some employees come and go whom were working under the previous female operations manager. She treated her subordinates in a way that I did not agree with. I am very observant and pay close attention to my surroundings. I am also a business owner of a family restaurant and bakery that has been going 8 yrs strong. You never get so big headed where you treat your employees like they're less than nothing! I noticed that from the previous female operations manager at 1625 Pleasant Hill Rd. I cancelled my membership at LA Fitness for a while and joined a another fitness facility. I just recently rejoined LA Fitness. Mostly new staff, however I see a couple of regular staff members that were there before I left last year. I will say that I am pleased and impressed with the new operations manager, Ms. Amanda B. I felt her genuineness and realness when I met with her during my visit. She is one of the reasons that I rejoined LA Fitness. Since I've been back at the 1625 PH location, I notice that employees seem to be more happy and or personable than before. I also notice that Amanda leads by example. I see her walking around the facility greeting and speaking with members. She re-racks weights, places equipment back to its original location, that members have moved to other parts of the facility and left laying on the floor. She greets members and guests as they enter the facility. I also notice that Amanda is firm, fair and consistent with staff members. She has a good rapport with her employees and members.
