Came here while I was in town to purchase a guest pass. I called ahead of time to ask about charges, and was told it was $5 a day. I arrived to find out its $15 for 3 days, but they wouldn't allow me to purchase just one day. If someone else knows different math than I, the fact they wouldn't let me in for $5 a day was stoopid. I drive all the way from Mt. Hood to take Aqua Fit at this facility. I don't take classes in the morning because the pool is ridiculously full and I can't rock my leg kicks. Maybe there should be two classes in the morning. Also there's a lot of Aqua Chat going on which makes it difficult to hear the instructors. However, Kim, Glen and Elaina do a kick butt workout and make the 70 mi/rt drive SO worthwhile. A solid 3 days a week workout for this 64 year old since June 2019 and I've met my goals of my blood pressure being down and I'm well on my way to being as toned and fit as I was in my youth! I also appreciate that the monthly fee is worth the free classes alone. What I would pay at MHCC for one class and be left with no access to the pool or facilities at other times without paying, make this a great deal. I love taking Aqua Fit at night and would love a Friday class too. The facility is SO clean compared to the public facilities I had been using for a year prior to finding this one. Every time I mentioned any minor problems, like a toilet not flushing, they've thanked me warmly and it was fixed or the problem was cleaned up the next day. I repeat, it is so clean! As for the negative reviews, when I signed up I made it clear in the free trainer appointment that I was only there for the free swim classes. He showed me around the equipment and they've left me alone ever since. Sales did bother my two free pass friends from Salem about coming in because we never made it there, but when I talked to a representative, he cheerfully removed them from the call list. Parking is not that great and my car was broken into on a sunny summer day. It was between 2 and 3PM on a Saturday. It was disappointing and makes me nervous every time I have to park in the back lot. This leads me to my last comment. LA Fitness, in Gresham, is a super gym for getting and staying fit. Kim, our trainer is experienced and an expert in the use of the equipment. She stresses safety and proper form when using the equipment. We team train together and Kim knows how to maximize the training benefits of each session. We have gained muscle mass and endurance thanks to the excellent training we received from Kim. Thanks to Kim we are in better shape than we were fifteen years ago. This review will be for the Gresham location. Showers are clean, sauna is decent, and there is a pool for laps! I am pleased with this location. There is always room to park and not much waiting for machines. People watching is also pretty interesting. I would say this location has treated me pretty well. The only issue I so have with LA Fitness in General is the fact that they do not have a fitness shop. I think this is important as there are times when you don't have a towel, or forgot something important like water or even your gym shorts! You should have options besides driving back home in hopes of not losing the motivation to workout when you get back. read more

My fiancé and I decided to give this gym and try because obviously it's absolutely nice inside and everything is kept clean and new. We always connected with one of the Managers there his name was Carlos and he was always welcoming to us! One day we went in and wanted to switch our contract (which we were told from the beginning that we could) to just the simple plan which is one location. We had the plan where we could go to ANY LA fitness around, but honestly it just was not worth it to us. The guy at the front desk told us we could not do so and to re-read our contracts. He said that in order to switch to the simple plan we have to cancel everything and RE-SIGN UP AGAIN meaning paying all the fees all over again (ABSOLUTELY NOT). We were furious because we were told otherwise so we just simply asked to cancel the entire membership after that. The guy then proceeded to tell us we have to come back again at 6pm to cancel with a manager. So then we come back at 6pm and it was the most TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT I HAVE EVER SEEN. There's new people at the front desk now and they proceed to tell us we can't cancel because it's after 5pm and we told them we were told to come back at 6pm! Then the person laughed and said to hold on because the manager was on her lunch. As we're sitting there it seemed like the person at the front desk was messaging someone (possible the manager) at the back desks and they were laughing and looking over at us OBVIOUSLY talking shit about us. We waited about 25-30 minutes for the manager to come and when she approached us she was very angry. She didn't say one word to us as we just sat there and she just stood at the computer, cancelled our memebership and said "Next, time that you want to cancel you need to come in before 5pm because I WAS ON MY LUNCH BREAK" before we could even explain that ONE OF HER EMPLOYEES told us to come at 6 she stormed off not saying a word. WILL NOT RECOMMEND to ANYONE. It's OBVIOUS that everybody has information tossed up, because everyone we talked to told us something different each time. read more

There is no gym in the area that can compete. La Fitness has the most equip and amenities for the around $30/month. There are cheaper clubs like crunch, but you get what you pay for. Unlike crunch there its plenty of space plus they have a pool and basketball and racquetball courts. If you live out east this is your obvious choice. read more

I was staying two weeks and looking to hit up a couple different gyms with free trials. I felt super lucky to have met Paul who was so kind to give me the whole two weeks free. Saved me so much time and money! The juice bar was great. The bathrooms very clean. Nice locker rooms. Why not the fifth star? The carpet looked very dirty and worn, and weight keys were missing so I had to hunt some down from other machines. Other than that I had an enjoyable experience and will be back next year whether I have to pay or not. read more

Joined this gym when Bally's closed down about 4 years now Just got back to gym today has been closed for 2 weeks for remodel. Decent gym. Well spaced equipment so you won't lose a toe next to the meat heads dumping dumbbells to the floor next to you. But no WiFi... come on guys.. Gym is ok. Problem is your car getting broken into. There's not a lot of concern about weekly break ins which is unfortunate. I will be canceling my membership as my car has been broken into twice in one month. LA just throws their hands up and cannot help or problem solve this issue. read more

Stay away from this gym !!! staff is very rude, and not willing to help. I tried to add my daughter to my membership and was told I had to pay $85 upfront and then $50 per month after. I went in twice to cancel my membership and kept getting the runaround, I have to come between 9-5 when a specific manager is there or I have to fill out a form and fax it to corporate.I finally had to call corporate to cancel it. This place is a mess when you try to speak to the associates they are on their cell phone making personal calls and you stand there being ignored. I have been with la fitness for 11 years now and have been training that long in weights, My old trainer mike m was the best and we developed a awesome relationship and workout routine over the years, I lost 116 lbs and 60 inches and went from a man that could not even do a push up to a tyrannosaurus Rex that loves heavy weight, now I have more energy at 57 yrs old than I ever had before, mike moved out of state and I was very saddened by that and you got to do what you got to do, So i had a couple of different trainers that were just ok, they didn't fulfill my needs with lack of experience in heavy weight training so again another trainer quit and I was left with that empty feeling again, what do I do now?, well it was my lucky day and there is a new sheriff in town and his name is Nate d, we met and my first workouts were awesome and his knowledge of muscle development and nutrition and how to properly stretch the muscle fit my needs as before, He transferred from the 82nd gym and there loss is our gain, I hope to stay with this young full of life trainer and build with him a nice routine and relationship that will keep be pumping another 20 yrs, So in conclusion if your looking for a trainer that will build muscle or rehab a old injury he is the man, You will definitely learn a lot from him and he will make you very strong. read more

Great gym to work out at. Complaint is the management. This gym recently transferred a great director to the Pearl LA Fitness and fired their best trainer out of the blue. Bought a 3 year membership for $700 from Don and was told my membership would be universal. Went to a different location and they said it was a single club membership. Came back to this LA fitness where I originally bought my membership and addressed the problem with the operations manager Miguel. Miguel informed me in a very rude manner that his salesman Don no longer worked there because he was lying to people and selling them membership agreements that weren't what they had agreed on like my scenario. I asked Miguel to make it right and change my membership to a universal membership like I had agreed on with his salesman and he basically told me that it wasn't his problem and to call corporate. Terrible customer service for starters and they lie to you and sell you memberships that aren't what they tell you you're getting. Miguel opening admitted that his employee had wronged me yet made no effort to make it right and even went to the extent of telling me it wasn't his problem and basically laughed in my face about getting wronged by his staff. Would highly recommend steering clear of buying memberships from this sales staff because you don't know what you're actually getting. read more

I have been going to the Gresham LA Fitness for 10 months. My trainer is Nate and he has been great, helping me with everything how all the machines work, adjusting them for the right work out! His knowledge of the body and how things work I'd very impressive and helps me to understand it all. I could not imagine trying to learn how to work out without his help! read more

I'm a 69 year old "baby boomer." Waiting for a second hip replacement in 1 year. I've been working with personal trainer, Nate Daugherty, at LA Fitness in Gresham, Oregon for 3 months. My intention, in this opening review, is to share my experience and be helpful to others. When i started working with Nate: 1. I thought I knew more than actually I did about getting in shape. 2. I could do it by myself. 3. The cost benefit of working with a personal trainer was questionable. My humbling experience has been that: 1. I was embarrassingly arrogant about what I thought I knew. I was ignorant of the 'evidence based research' that could maximize my progress. 2. I literally could not get stronger and healthier by myself. I needed direction and accountability. 3. The most impactful health related investment I have ever made, is in obtaining the services of Nate Daugherty through L A Fitness in Gresham, OR. I've recently gotten back into working out after having a set back in my life. She was very understanding while I told her my story. The men's locker room smells like a wet dog house because of the unsanitary and bio-hazard carpeting. It needs to go, like they ended up doing at the Lloyd Center LA Fitness. It really is quite offensive. Anything that smells that bad can't be good for one's health. And while they are working on my list, they could turn up the hot tub a degree or two so that it's as hot as their other locations. Other than that, it's an okay gym and not too crowded. read more

Just went here on a free pass to do an Aqua class and the guy was very nice. He gave me a quick run through about how he runs his class saying if I was a faster pace or a slower pace great keep at a pace you can keep up with . Also that he really pushes us so we really feel the work out. I use to go to crunch down the street but they get too crowded during peak hours and I have to wait. This gym was busy but I still was able to workout. It was very enjoyable, I'm for sure going to sign up here and continue my water class. It was fun plus I have friends who go there as well. Joined LA Fitness back in December of last year and I will say that I am very happy that I joined this place. The amenities for how much you pay is completely worth it. You got everything from free weights to universals, several different kinds of cardio equipment, raquetball court, basketball court, sauna, steam room, swimming pool, multiple free classes, and more and all I pay is $35 a month with no initiation fee. I've always been the kind of anti douchebag/meathead workout guy. I almost hate going to the gym because of these people make it somewhat unpleasant to be there. I liked to be left alone with my headphones on and do my thing. I go later in the evening and am able to minimize the douchebaggery that goes on at literally all gyms. Even some of them aren't too bad. I've gotten some good advice from them. In addition, its been kind of nice to actually have other members and not employees recognize my weight loss and conviction to better health. Since I joined I've lost almost 40 lbs and I will say that I can't attest to the trainers helping me but having the right equipment and a great location is key to this kind of success. I think customer service for the most part is fairly good but not super awesome I do feel it is a little clickish with most of the employee. For example its taken me almost 5 months just to get the front desk clerk to actually have a conversation with me instead of just a simple hello. I would definitely recommend this location for multiple reasons but most importantly as a consumer I think its very important for you to find what works for you. Happy Fitness Everyone! read more

Big national chain with a number of locations, which you can go to any location without a hassle. I go to both the Lloyd Center and Gresham locations. For the most part it is not too busy and easy to get a machine. I tried the Aqua Fit class which was fun. It did not seem like much of a workout until the next day. Very poor business practices on their part. A quick search of complaints online tells the same story about LA Fitness and their deceitful practices, complaints and lawsuits. not a bad gym but ,, the second floor where tred mills are at theres no restroom only in the locker room which are pretty far to walk to,,other gyms have restrooms up stairs where the tread mills are,, and don't forget your towel from home and how does a person dry off after the hottub they don't have any guest towels probally why I don't bring my friends ,, when a person works out sometimes sweat ,,and when I first joined la fitteness back then there was 150 dollar fee to join now theres so many gyms opening up in Gresham ,, I counted 5 different gyms are open probally cheaper too read more

Charles is an idiot. I signed up for a day pass to bring my family in and potentially join. Charles called me and left a voicemail and I called back within 2 minutes. He put me on hold for a few minutes then when I got back in the phone I re explained who I was and he sat silent for a minute then I asked what he needed and he continued to sit silent. And then asked how he could help me. I told him he called me and he asked when I could come in. I told him tomorrow and I asked if I need to bring anything in. He the. Sat silent again and said "So your name is Bob?" I said no. My name is Nate (for the 4th time) and I think I'd rather pay $20 for a day pass somewhere else to check out their gym. I've been a member off/on over the years. When the club was new in Gresham, it was nice. But today, I was stunned by "reinstatement fees" - these folks are #$!@#$ out of their mind. The last time I was a member they had been putting off upgrades, were doing "maintenance" during normal business hours - - - the pattern has been declining value, declining customer service, equipment not being maintained/upgraded, and weird stuff like security coded doors between the locker room and the shower/toilet areas. I'm writing this review - the low rating is because of their customer service and contracts. They "Gotcha" across the board. Want to cancel? It has to be in writing - you can't cancel at the club you have to send it to some corporate office. You have to download a form physically print it, the works. It's a pain in the !#@$. I was going to renew for a short term just now and I was prompted with a "FREEZE FEE" OF $110, PLUS A FIRST/LAST MONTH, all in all $169 to "re-instate" my account. Are you @#$!$ kidding me? So, sorry LA Fitness - I just can't do business with any company that even 'thinks" like that anymore. Think about it, it's summer, a former member logs in and considers re-joining and you want to !#$@!#@ them right from the start? Sorry, not going to happen; and I was so offended and shocked, i was inspired to write a note here. I'd fire who's ever in charge of "membership" - you'd expect a pop-up saying 'WELCOME BACK, WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE, WE'VE GOT A DEAL JUST FOR YOU!" Well, they lost my business, let me guess, 5 years from now if I log in, they'll prompt me with a "FREEZE FEE" of $2500? Morons. I hope they go out of business so a more reputable management and marketing team take over - it's a good location. Planet Fitness or Crunch will get my business today, for $10/mo and no contracts? It's almost a no-brainer to never cancel the membership. I would of paid the $30/mo, I don't mind the "gotcha" cancellation policy - but as much as it's a "exit barrier" once you experience, it becomes a life long re-entry barrier. I like the salt water pool...but i hear it's a chlorine pool now? The last time I was there, the sauna was literally falling a part and not being maintained. The energy of the place simply wasn't what it use to be either. Anyway - if you don't mind being setup for experiences like this - or paying for a club membership during times of a year when you are not using the club - it may be a good option IF they're keeping up on maintenance. I'd visit and check the facility out first. The last time I did that, I was advised they were going to "remodel", that never happened. Like I said - they seem to be declining - and their customer service policies screamed "go away". I got the message LA Fitness, and i won't be back unless you make me an offer I can't refuse, remodel, modernize and upgrade your club - giving MORE VALUE, not LESS, than when you first opened your doors; also, change your policies so I or others will never be treated with such disregard. Told us we could cancel anytime, when we came in to cancel our membership he told us we had to come in between nine and five and there's only one person we can speak to about canceling. Also not a ton of stair machines and their equipment is down randomly, currently a stair stepper is down and they only have 5 of them to begin with. Rude. Dirty. Moldy. NO WIFI!! Staff is very unfriendly, very unhelpful. They care more about new members coming g in than keeping the ones they have. Do not fall for "first and last month" when you cancel they still charge you for the month plus 30 extra days so you get 60 days of a crappy gym you want out of in the first place. Terrible gym. There is a reason they have such a high turnover. Look elsewhere if you want a good gym. Horrible. This is one of those cases where Yelp needs a no star rating. read more
