A foodie of my caliber needs to burn all those calories like constantly. Being that were visiting from out of town, my hubby and my sis-in-law wanted to devote a day of working out. So we came to this venue. Right off the bat you are welcomed with the whole loft style open concept of nothing but people moving around. Even a giant viewing window of the pool as well. There's an abundance of free weights, that's cool. There's cardio machines, assisted pull ups. Stretch room at the corner. Theres even some racquet ball rooms. The sauna is the best part of any gym. The gym is in dire need of repair, paint peeling from ceiling in pool area, rusty vents, doors, and chair lifts. The showers have mold on the walls and there is only one person who I see cleaning the entire place. Last week she was cleaning all of the outside windows. The manager never greets people when they come in and never looks up from the computer. The other staff are on their cell phones and /or listening to music. There is one helpful women who may be the assistant manager and she has gone above and beyond to help we with questions I had. read more

We were chatting and she told me that the people who go to her class are mostly beginners and have a little more difficulty following her moves, so ///if you're the type to modify the moves to be higher intensity, then make sure you stand in the back///. She said its ok to modify the moves to be lower intensity though and she's worried about other people watching people other than her. People look at whoever they want regardless of where you stand...since the mirrors reflects everybody? I like Deborah's class though because her music gives the potential to modify for a high intensity workout, but because of this, it'll probably be harder for me to come back to her class. I like to have high intensity workouts to make the most of my hour and this class won't allow it. Otherwise good workout! CYCLING I've only attended a handful. I'll update instructors as time passes but I do love it. It can be very high intensity and fun, depending on who teaches, otherwise you'll pretty much always break a sweat since you're really just cycling. I came here yesterday to work out. I used the steps in the personal training area when it was unoccupied for around ten minutes. So when I came to work out today the trainer saw me and locked up the steps so I couldn't use them. None of the other LA Fitnesses in the area have a problem with people using the personal training area when no one is using it for personal training, except for this place. No wonder this LA Fitness is almost completely empty every time I come here. read more

Staff is friendly and the clientele is warm and welcoming. I do find it hard to understand how with two full time janitorial staff the showers could be so nasty and have no soap half the time. The paper towel dispensers are almost always empty on any given day and time. The showers are nasty, from what I can tell they only get cleaned once a week. This ain't enough given the amount of usage. There are four stair climber machines and two weeks ago one was down for over a week. This same machine had been down several times previously over the past few months. But here is the kicker, the seat in the sauna is broken. I will post a photo because it's been this way for over two weeks. There is a broken piece of cedar with a haphazardly wrapped caution tape strung though the gaping death trap. Other places in the bench have nails sticking out. I have seen other members actually cut their legs on the nail heads. read more

I don't come to this location often, but whenever I do it's gross. The clientele are apparently trashy, leaving hair spiders stuck to the walls and floor. But at least the staff could clean better. It smells moldy in the shower and pool area, there's black slime around the shower faucets, the grout is disgusting, half the soap dispensers have been ripped out, and the floors are so dirty I dropped my shower puff and decided it was better to just throw it away. I had planned to end my workout with a swim & sauna, but the shower was so filthy I didn't trust them. Pro: decent workout equipment and a sauna if you dare to use it. read more

If you're looking for a large outdated gym with unsanitary equipment. This is the gym for you! Weights are all over the place. Used paper towels and weights are all over. Gym staff works overtime to avoid you. Was a lot better 6 months ago. Declining fast! Not sure what changed. But get used to broken equipment, weights all over, missing staff, and visible staff eating fast food. So disappointed! I will continue to post pics and updates! I'm the Duke! Dear LA fitness, When you say free trial week I expect free, not $59.99 and you'll refund me if I don't like it. And when you get a busy mom in the door who has already had a tour and just wants to start the free trail, please don't waste 20mins of my time attempting to talk me into paying out right then and there. I know what I need to do, I have VERY PReCIOUS LITTLE time just let me try and see if I can make this fit into my insanely busy life. Ps maybe you should gets some info from crazy busy moms and train your sales people a little better. They won't let me join my stepmom as a guest for ONE morning yoga class because I have an out-of-state ID. Unless, of course, I pay $15 for a "day fee." Positives: This facility is fairly new and is in good condition--generally very clean & well-kept. It is not as crowded as some of the other LA Fitness locations and I rarely have to wait for a piece of equipment. It's not a "meat market" type of gym--just people doing their 'workout thing.' They have a full complement of cardio, free-weights, and Nautilus-type machines, along with spin classes, a basketball court, 5 racquetball courts, a pool, spa, and sauna. The group fitness instructors are personable as well as knowledgeable; I especially enjoy the yoga classes. They have a great variety in their class schedule--there's a little something for everyone. I haven't made use of any of the personal trainers, so I cannot comment on their competencies. I do see quite a few members working with staff trainers, so they may be worth checking out if you are in the market for it. The minor negatives: They don't stock kettle balls and their medicine balls are currently sorely in need of replacement. One of the managers a couple of times has had his preteen children wandering the gym, which I don't think is safe or comfortable for the members. read more

Beware. If you choose to try and cancel your membership, especially within the 7 day clause you can only cancel with an operations manager who only works Monday through Friday 9 to 5. Why is it that I can get a membership on Saturday or Sunday but it does not work in reverse? I work during the week and I am not available during those hours. The sign up process was sketchy. It was all hand written on a piece of paper like it was a secret and it could not have been verbalized or printed. The machines are out of date and are sticky on many of the foot pad areas. The people are of all shapes and sizes and keep to themselves. The locker rooms appear clean but I would not take on the shower without shower shoes. And the past few nights the doors have been locked early. but if all I can do is make it for a 10 min workout at the end of my hectic day before the gym closes, thats my business and I'd like to feel Comfortable doing so. This is about my favorite of the LA Fitness facilities I have been to in the North Atlanta suburbs. It's fairly new with excellent equipment and is kept clean. It is not crowded at all either on the gym floor or in the locker room. I never have to wait for machines or to swim in the pool. The lockers are large and there is plenty of room to spread out when changing. read more

This is one of the newer, nicer locations like Barrett Pkwy and Terrell Mill. It's never overcrowded when I go, but I don't go during the mad rush times either. The Bodyworks class on Monday nights at 7 is always packed, so get there early. Aside from that, I'm pretty cool with the place. I love strength training and jumping rope, so if you visit you can find me in the free weights/cable weight area or striking a yoga pose for my stretching post-workout. :-) read more

I have been a member for a year and mostly use the pool, spin class, cardio and weight machines. I can not use the aerobics class or racquetball courts so I will not comment on them. I have been a member of gyms for over 20 years, and this one is good. Their equipment is in pretty good shape. The pads appear clean most of the equipment is in good working order. I have never found a gym with no repairs in progress. Their sauna and shower area are very clean, lockers are always clean, never really busy. I can always get on a machine. I have only had to wait a few minutes on a crazy busy day , but i found another machine on the main floor that was just fine. The POOL IS WARM!!! If you like a warm pool you are in luck. It is never very busy, and the water is kept at a very comfy temp. The music in the spin and step classes that i have taken was decent. Quite often I have to bring ear plugs to classes at other clubs, but so far I don't need them at this LA Fitness. The only negative might be their class schedule. It is fairly thin compared to other La Fitness gyms like the one off of Roswell Rd. I don't believe this one on E. Piedmont is as busy as that location. The staff is decent, it is a gym, you have to motivate yourself. Have fun and get involved. read more

Nice gym, but what's the point of having punching bags if no one can ever use them?! I've come at all hours of the day and have yet to use them a single time. The only punching bags are located in the studio room, which have classes ALL day, so why even say you offer them? At least give interested members a 30 minute window between classes or work something out because telling us we can only use the bags if we come before 7a or after 9p is ridiculous. Yet there are 4-5 big and EMPTY rooms for racquetball (which they don't provide equipment for btw) that remain absolutely empty every time I've gone. What a waste of space and a poorly planned schedule for members interested in using the bags - 1 star, -1 star for the dirty hot tub and -1 more star for the empty soap dispensers in the 3/4 showers I've taken at this location. read more

Great LA fitness location. Families, older people, H.S. students from Sprayberry, women...a nice mix of different demographics of people. Friendly people, no lame azz dorks on steroids walking around like they own the place, not too many hoochies, or ridiculous looking people. Just a regular , decent gym. And VERY clean and organizeed. Several iPhones were stolen from the Sprayberry LA Fitness today and took me a long to get a simple incident report. When the incident was reported to the staff member no report was taken at all. I had to come in and demand an incident report. The Manager Troy gave me a hard time. I had to later go the police station to report the incident properly and the PD told me LA fitness should have called the police to report the incident as well. The police later met me at the location to file an official report. I found out today that LA fitness has NO I mean NOT one camera at this location or outside the building. I'm very fond of my gym. Staff is great, it's relatively clean and the price is right. The main thing that gets me are the little things that stay broken for months at a time. Minor things that could so easily be taken care of. Like the treadmill that's been dark (broken) for weeks now.. Or that hook on one of the women's bathroom doors that has literally has had scotch tape across the hole (missing the hook) for almost a year now. Still broken. So small right? But try going into a bathroom and looking to hang your bag up .. what would you do? Put your bag on a dirty bathroom floor or move to another stall? Exactly. Or the lights in the cardio room that mysteriously wouldn't shut off for months and now all of a sudden there is a switch. This is my gym, but man .. there are some minor things that literally just stay broken and it kind of drives me nuts. read more

Clean, well maintained facility with professional staff and trainers. There is plenty of equipment so crowding is not an issue.

This location is MUCH better than the subpar East Cobb location on Roswell Rd. I like it because it is a quieter, less busy location, and I had an awesome physical trainer there, who I would recommend to anyone. Her name is Erica, and she NEVER missed an appointment, had high energy, and really cares about her clients. I had a terrible experience with training at the other location, with constantly changing trainers, them not showing up, or truly a lack of effort or attention. Also, the equipment and pool seem to be in better condition than other gyms I have seen. I understand that it is a somewhat newer gym, so I hope they keep it up. read more

He is great to work with no matter what fitness level you are at. Made me challenge with his workouts and shared his great tips to thrive in my current fitness journey. My wife set up a membership for me and they FAILED to tell her about the $49 yearly fee. It was a surprise when she got the statement. The tried to have me work with the sales person, but lo and behold he no longer works at the employee revolving door business. So I filed a BBB report and it is handled out of AZ . I really think all of these rip off fitness centers need to have a class action lawsuit field against them for their shoddy business practices. According to the BBB website they have had 2000 complaints in 3 years and over 568 in the last twelve months. DO not join this place. read more

No complaints here at all. This is my home gym and I'm here three days a week. I come in the mornings when there's really no crowd. The weights and machines are in the condition that you would expect for a gym, very decent. The place seems pretty clean. I have no interaction with any employees or other users I just go in work out and leave. read more

I have to say in all my years of lifting unhealthy amounts of weights, this is by far the best gym that I have found a home in. The equipment is complete with everything that I need to improve my Herculean physique, it is always clean and the janitor staff is always on point. The personal training offers accommodating prices and the service ensures that you're getting the biggest bang for your buck. The management and operations staff are beyond great, Chris and Blake are excellent at managing both departments and their staff is outstanding, offering the best prices that any gym in the area can offer. I enjoy this gym very much, the location is great for me and the parking area is large enough so finding parking isn't an issue. The gym is clean, and very spacious. I tend to utilize the weights so I can say they have a great variety of machines from Hammer Strength to free weights. The cardio machines upstairs are easily located away from the weights so it cuts down on people and noise ( good during busy peak hours of 5-7). Found staff to be efficient, good gym. read more

I've been a habitual member of L.A. Fitness since it bought the franchise from Australian Body Works, probably in 1988. I only attend the classes because I really don't know how to use the machines. I use the East Cobb, Barrett, Akers Mill, Sprayberry and W. Roswell locations. The instructors are generally quite good. However, L.A. Fitness does not care about cooling the aerobics rooms. The gym routinely fails to properly cool these areas with either central AC or fans. I've thought for years that this operation, now a "deep pockets" business, would be easy pickings for any aggressive tort attorney were an older or pregnant client to be sickened because of the negligence of L.A. Fitness to maintain a healthfully cool workout environment. read more

I had a rude and unprofessional first time visit/experience at the Sprayberry location. Before walking in I noticed that they had signs up SUGGESTING that people wear masks upon entering. I decided to opt out and as I walked in I noticed a group of young guys walking out without masks. As I looked onto the gym floor, I noticed that most- if not everyone, was exercising without a mask. However as I walked up to the front desk I got a weird look from the employee working there. As I stood there, he never asked if I needed help. He only motioned with his hands as if to ask what I wanted. He just kept glaring at me....So when I did inform him of who I was there to meet for a guest pass, he tracked the sales rep for me. He too also had a questionable look on his face. He walked me over to his desk and then again I noticed another employee look at me with a questionable look on her face. At this point I was completely over it. I asked the rep- who is also the manager, if wearing a mask was a requirement or policy, to which he answered 'no.' Then after a course of questioning and pressuring to sign up, I let him know that YEARS ago, I used to work for them- to which he replied, ' I can't let you in with a guest pass since you used to work for us." (AMAZING!) I signed up for this online and no where upon signing was this ever mentioned. I even talked to him over the phone before arriving and he never mentioned it either. I got up out of there real quick. Not only was I being stared at, but the guy was trying to pressure me into signing up even though I never got a chance to experience the gym climate firsthand. It's funny how I get glared at when there's a room full of people SWEATING and BREATHING HEAVILY without masks. I might give it another shot, but then again, I don't have time for their culture of unprofessional behavior. read more

I have been disappointed in this place since I joined several months ago but the final straw was when I attempted to bring my fiancé as a guest the other day. We walked in ready to pay the guest fee and possibly even sign him up for his own membership but were immediately and rudely turned away because he had yet to change his license. We walked in and came up to the front desk where the tired looking receptionist begrudgingly attempted to scan my card (it took her three times) with a horrible attitude. Upon telling her that I was bringing a guest she asked for his license and we gladly handed it over. When she realized that it was an out of state license she became even more confused than she had been scanning my card and just stared at us until one of the sales guys came over and took the card from her. He gave it a once over and looked at my fiancé and said 'Uh yeah, Bubba... I can't let you in. You have to have a GA drivers license to be a guest here'. Now, apart from the fact that when I signed up for my membership I was not informed of any such policy, the guy had my finance's license in his hand and could have addressed him by either his name or sir, but instead, decided to go with 'Bubba'... Really? Is this how you address everyone? Now I completely understand that establishments such as this have certain policies in place to keep themselves and their members safe, really I do. But they could have simply explained their reasoning for this policy or had us sign a release (like any other gym would do) or made a one time exception seeing as how this 'policy' wasn't discussed with me when the manager signed me up for my membership in the first place. Instead they rudely told us to leave and said there was nothing they could do. So we left. I called back 30 mins later and spoke to a manager and after telling him that I wanted to cancel my membership he offered to let us come back in and give my fiancé a one day pass. Um... Couldn't you have done that when we were in there 30 mins ago? I was lead to believe that there wasn't even a manager on duty and now that we have left and gone all the way home and threatened to cancel my membership you want to try to make it all better by doing what you should have done in the first place? Seriously? No thank you. On top of all of this, I was told that I would have to come and cancel my membership in person and that I could only do that while this certain manager was in the office which is conveniently the same hours that I am at work. Lovely... Rest assured LA Fitness, I will be by very soon to make good on my word. As a former personal trainer and group fitness instructor I can confidently say that this is not how a gym is supposed to be run. I highly suggest that you train your sales team and receptionists on simple customer service. A nice attitude will get you far in life, even if you are telling people things that they don't want to hear. There's a lot to be said about mutual respect and professionalism, Bubba! read more

As other reviewers mentioned this gym is a clean, very well maintained facility. The gym has a lot of equipment, especially in the weight area. My low review is due to the classes. Granted I joined the gym for the classes, if you do not participate in group classes then my review is probably not useful for you. My biggest complaint is that classes are often canceled very last minute. Recently I had two canceled classes within a week of each, what added to my frustration was the response from the front desk. In one case they put a sign up on the door about three minutes prior to the start of class and did not even enter the room to let us know the class was canceled. Later that week another class was canceled and a member had to go to the front desk to find out if there was a class that day. In addition the classes are understocked on equipment. In the body works class (weekend classes) the popular sized weights go very quickly and people are forced to use other weights. read more
