This isn't just the best LA Fitness in the surrounding towns, it's also the best gym overall in my opinion. My work allows me to use any gym in the area, so I've tried most of the big ones from Stuart through Port St Lucie. LA Jensen has the most machines and space. Every amenity that gyms offer like basketball, spin, etc. The gym members in general seem like nice clean cut people. And the staff are honestly the nicest I've met. This is the gym I choose to use most of the week before my weekdays to get me started in a good mood, although it's not the closest by far. I'd recommend it to anyone, it has something for everybody. read more

This review is based on the POOL only: if you come here for the pool primarily, BEWARE! Today I was informed they have a Must-Share policy for the pool. I've been a member off and on since this place first opened and this is the first time I've heard this! I'm in a wheelchair, and the pool is pretty much the only cardio I can do. Awful experiences today, several extremely nasty people just pushed their way into my lane. Management said "we can't force them out. You gotta share." But I'm in a wheelchair, and I do various swim movements that require the WHOLE lane! Not good. I'm taking my business elsewhere. Besides, the bathrooms, lockers, and sauna areas are always filthy! Have been a member since it opened and finally quit in July. The group fitness area is dirty. The mats are so worn that we need to bring our own. Time to replace the speakers, mats, mikes and MUSIC. Hairballs float about the room. Most days the mirrors have fingerprints. Punching bags are destroyed. Not impressed with the instructors; same routine everyday, no variety. I bring my own wipes to clean the free weights in the group fitness area and my wipe looks disgusting after the wipe down. I could go on and on but instead I joined a boutique gym and the coaches hand us wipes after each workout and we clean our sweat off the treadmills, rowers and floor weights. So much variety at the new gym; never a repeat routine. Sad to leave because I made some awesome friends at LA. Hope the remodel helps! read more

This is the best gym in this area. They have a great variety of machines, free weights and other areas for sports. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only reason I give it four stars instead of five stars is because of the overall cleanliness could be better. I have noticed that nobody cleans up their machines after they used it and I never see staff cleaning machines. I'm sure they do it daily but I don't believe that is enough. read more

I signed my teenager up for his gym because it was so close to his high school and he could walk to the gym after school. And that is the only reason. All the staff is very young and immature. When I had a billing question. They were extremely rude and argumentative...Very unhappy with out experience. Unfortunately its the only gym that he can walk to after school. read more

Well... It all started with me looking into memberships to kick off the new year! I wanted to also encourage my other half to get in shape as well..so I thought.. What a PERFECT Christmas present. So i googled and shopped around.. Then I came into La Fitness here in Jensen Beach, Florida. Spoke with a gentleman named Alan... As their practicing Regional Manager Alan went over all plans and pricing with me.. Which within conversation I thought he was going above and beyond..but to my displeasure I found out only later that he was simply "trying to make a sale" and I quote that from his fellow co worker a month later. Alan told me because this purchase was a present that he would gather a water bottle and T shirt in my boyfriends size for me to pickup the following morning... I came in the next day and not only was he not there neither was this "joining gift" ... Alan also told me typically that a personal trainer will call to set up a free training assessment.. I said thank you by that won't be needed because my boyfriend would then find out about the present. So I asked if he could please put notes in the account not to call. Notes were never put in and La Fitness Botched the present.. Alan also informed me that once my boyfriend came in that he would be able to put his credit card on file to pay for future months. That it was in no way a problem for them to spilt it. As for me just wanting to jump start his healthy year and not to take over full cost for years to come I was great ful for this option and the reason I chose this plan. Well a month later... Come to find out none of this is true.. In order for him to pay on his own he needs to pay ANOTHER installation fee and sign up alone. Soooo I have been on the phone with numerous employees.. And came in before work to try and figure all this out and if they correct it. This morning when I came in the sales person I was directed to speak with wasn't here so I worked out and waited. When I sat down with her and explained everything she and I quote" that's Alan! He was just trying to make a sale" She apologized and then informed me I was un able to cancel with her that I need to speak with an operations manager. As if the customer service couldn't get worse it did... A co worker of hers came up and they had a full blown conversation of what happened over the weekend...how much they drank and how much sonic burgers they had after. I took a video of this as I was so appalled! The voice is rather low so it doesn't do it justice but I have uploaded for ur convenience . So because I am I working woman I went home to get ready for work and tried to call to speak to the operations manager... I was told she was busy.. I said no problem I'll hold... After holding for five minutes I was told she couldn't come to the phone and that they would take my number and have her call me back. I decided I would stop here on my way to work... Well the operations manager is NOT here! And I am left waiting again. ..... 15 minutes later... Sitting with her now and she isn't even apologizing on behalf of anyone.. She is canceling mine and my boyfriends account now. I will NEVER EVER speak good about this place! Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced! THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE SMOOTHIE CAFE ONLY. the gym is AMAZING -- clean, well managed, equipment maintained, up to date equipment, friendly staff, and did i mention CLEAN?!? i imagine the cafe is privately owned? a rental area space from LA FITNESS? so. the cafe. the manager or owner, not sure -- she sits behind the counter reading, WITH HER SHOES UP ON THE COUNTER, NEXT TO THE BLENDERS THAT ARE SITTING IN THE SINK. yes, dirty shoes up on the counter, next to the sink -- the counter where food is being prepared and served. FILTHY. additionally, they use hershey's liquid chocolate syrup (WHAT?!?). this syrup LIVES up on an empty ledge, that is closest to the gym equipment -- the lid is NEVER EVER closed shut, it's always open. this is just gross and unsanitary. i've never been a customer of the cafe and seeing how they present themselves as a FOOD BUSINESS, i'll never move to customer status. read more

I enjoy going to this gym. I find the place is always kept clean and there is not a long wait for equipment. The hours are reasonable. The pricing is okay but if you have health insurance the insurance should pay or help pay for the gym. I only pay $20 per month. Most of the staff is helpful and friendly. The bathroom/lockers are great especially because the sauna is right next to the showers. They have classes of all sorts from yoga to cycling. I would recommend this gym to anyone. read more

There is no gym manners, members sit on machines, talk on phone, text and carry on hour long conversations while other members want to work out. Many of the members use one machine and place personal items on another to reserve their next machine. A towel can get more time on a machine then other members. The staff is to busy collecting dues, for them to try to attempt to rectify the problem. Perhaps an email or text to members explaining gym rules would be helpful read more

Would be laughed out of any major city. Pathetic 1980's gym-vibe. Not a single class that would be considered male inclusive. How about a little "Fast-Twitch", maybe some strap work.. Every "class" is basically Jazzersize. Facility is absolutely disgusting. I was a member there for a full year and never saw anyone clean the equipment let alone wipe down the "JAZZERSIZE" area. Not even once. I saw members hanging of the water fountain to doing lunges and mangement didn't stop them. For reference I'm now a member at Planet Fitness up the street... they have at least two people on the floor disinfecting the stations at all times with self cleaning station positioned strategically throughout. LA Fitness has 2, Planet Fitness has at least eight that I can recall. ALL of their equipment has worked since I've been a member. At LA Fitness, 1/2 to 1/4 of the treadmills are constantly broken which is unacceptable. The bathrooms are disgusting, the pool are is even worse. The have a wrestling-mat size under the area for member to use to strect and do sit-ups and other bio-mechanic calisthenics. Those mats fit about 3 peopple on them comfortably. Members aren't allowed to use the trainers sections (which has the equipment and could accommodate a dozen members. It doesn't make sense. Management is unresponsive... I've left multiple messages included for the old and new GM's which have not extended the courtesy of a return phone call. It truly is this bad. And if you don't think so now.... re-read this post in six months when you've been disappointed, been disregarded, disrespected and are now disolusioned over how sucky the gym really is. I had stayerd away from LA Fitness from a prior bad experience, like having a bad meal at a restaurant I didn't want to be to quick to judge. I moved into the area for a couple of months and was looking for a gym with no contract. The gym is nice and clean with large locker rooms. They have a pool and sauna. Lots of cardio equipment and weights. The class schedules are good as well. The reason for the 5 stars tho is for my trainer Saw. I signed up for a 3 month training session with him and it has been great. He knows what he is doing and really challenges you to do better every time you meet. On Saturdays Jesse holds a 2 hr class that will kick your butt but is soo much fun. My 5 stars is for them but the gym is nice too. read more

Amazing front desk staff and sales department! Always friendly and welcoming. Every time I have a friend that comes from out of town that comes to visit me they always take care of them like if they're members! I have been going to the LA Fitness over at Saint Lucie West these past couple of weeks due to the fact that the training department is always asking me to sign up for their program after I told them that Im not interested and always approach me in a way where it makes me feel uncomfortable. Specially the personal training manager. Last time I was there they told I cannot use the "restricted area" where they train their clients, where there's weights, mats , medicine balls and cable attachments all over the floor in that so called "restricted area". I'm going to give this another try and if it doesn't workout I will have to cancel. read more

Very poorly maintained gym. I am told that they only have 1 maintenance person for the equipment and he only works there for 8 hours /WEEK. Equipment is constantly Out of Service for weeks on end. I reported a worn-out, beaten up part on a Precor Stretch Trainer about 2 months ago and as of today is still not fixed. I ask about it all the time and they do not have a valid answer as to why they cannot get the part. May elliptical trainers have broken TVs which have been that way for years...I stay with this gym because of its convenient location and low price...guess you get what you pay for! read more

Three months later, and I have been charged $210 in hidden fees. Easily the most disgusting fitness facility I have ever been to. Locker rooms are dirty, machines are rusted, free weights are mostly rusty and gross, stair climbers feel like you're going to fall through the steps at any second because maintenance has not been kept up on them. Ellipticals squeak and sound like they're on the verge of breaking because the gym has not kept up maintenance on them. Bathrooms are next-level disgusting. I don't think they actually have someone clean them regularly. Members are also awful at this gym. Don't wipe their benches or machines down after use, sit on their phones for up to 15 minutes during peak times, use inappropriate areas during peak time to do their exercises. (Alas, usually don't consider this in my reviews, though, because in that context you get what you pay for.) Don't even get me started on how gross the pool is. To give you background, I work out six days/week and have been a consistent gym-goer for seven years now. I've been to a lot of gyms and a lot of LA Fitness locations. This one is by far the worst. You are much better off spending a little more money at Powerhouse Gym (MUCH cleaner bathrooms/locker rooms/facilities), Planet Fitness is still meh (but oddly better than this LA), and my first rating would be to go to either Center Athletics in downtown Stuart if you can afford it or even drive all the way down to Crunch Fitness in Gardens. read more

I wrote the following letter in early October to LA Fitness Corporate in California. Amazingly I never heard a response. I was a member of another club (not LA Fitness) while I was working overseas in the Middle East. The facilities were impeccable and in first class condition. LA Fitness is a total letdown. Do not join this club. The management does not care for its members ignoring their concerns and requests. Here is the letter: Hello: My fiance and I are members at the above club location. We wanted to bring to your attention the condition of the club. The carpeting is worn, smells, and needs replacement. This also contributes to the stuffy, foul smell within the club. The air conditioning system is not on prior to classes to allow for the room to cool off and take away odors that have been making the air stale with sweat and dirt. More recently, the wood floor in one exercise room was shellacked making it impossible to breathe without feeling nauseous or faint. Many of the members told the manager (a woman) who just shrugged off our concern. Many of us left our classes early. The women's and men's locker rooms are dirty. Many times there is no paper in the stalls and the sinks, vanities and seating areas have a coating on them which indicates that they have not been sanitized nor cleaned in a while. The equipment is not wiped down properly by the cleaning crew. Equipment is rusted and aged and has not been serviced properly. Many of the bikes in the spin class have inaccurate counters, pedals are broken, the bike is shaky because wheels are missing, and the cleat locks are rusted. Pieces of folded napkins are placed under the footings of the bikes to stabilize them. We are dues-paying members of the club and expect decent, clean facilities with a competent staff who ensure our health and safety. We expect you to correct these problems from the main office since the onsite manager does not wish to hear our suggestions. Furthermore, we have never been a member of a health club wherein the manager does not take classes nor maintain her shape to really be part of a health business. Should you also choose to not meet our expectations, we will have no alternative but to send our complaints out virally to warn others to stay away from this club. I'll be "exercising my options" elsewhere... Let me start by saying I am a peaceful person. At no time did I get angry or give any of the staff a difficult time. All 3 employees in this situation treated me like a number, not a person. No one was nasty, but they just had a "our hands are tied by corporate" attitude. I used to have a family plan but removed myself because I felt self-concious being too overweight. Have since lost weight with diet changes to the point that I felt good enough to really step it up and work out with a friend regularly (she's also a member). Tried to take over my teen son's unused portion of the original family account ( that I have been paying for-for years) but was told I had to cancel his account and either pay $85 initiation to re-start my own or no initiation but $5/month higher than currently paying for his account. I can certainly afford either choice but refuse to participate in such a scam. Cancelled my son's account (which he can still use for a month because they do not refund any money, ever). I should be amazed that they would rather lose $30 a month than waive an initiation fee and keep me at the rate I have been paying. So, my son can still come for a month, but me, the mom, the one paying for his account cannot stay for a class on a guest pass even though I gave a ride to a friend who is already in the class holding a spot/bike for me. They wanted me to wait outside the gym or come back to give my friend a ride home?!?! read more

I've been a member of this gym for the better part of a year now. In my time there, the customer service has been mediocre at best, besides the one enthusiastic maintenance lady in the mornings who made everyone smile. Later in 2014, I injured myself (bruised femur) in the free weight room and what did the staff do? They proceeded to try and sell me personal training as i was being rolled out by the ambulance. Incredibly distasteful but I stuck with the gym. Today, I tried to cancel my membership due to financial reasons, and the staff proceeded to inform me of a ridiculous policy that they only cancel memberships M-F 9-5. Nothing should be able to stop me from removing my money from an establishment. You can take my money on a weekend i be able should to take it away. Another co-worker came up and didnt even acknowledge me, told her what to do, and walked away. MAY I REMIND YOU AT THIS VERY MOMENT I AM STILL A PAYING CUSTOMER? Absolutely ridiculous. Deplorable customer service. They gave me a paper, and said either mail it to corporate or come in during the week and left me to it. Do not put your money into this gym. The one extra star is for the very nice maintenance lady who works in the morning and greets everyone and loves her job. Take your $60+ and spend it elsewhere. read more

This is the third season as a Traveller from Canada that I have joined this gym. Under the direction of Gustavo Carol this gym is improving all the time! This year the change areas are always clean and look like they have just been tended to. The staff is friendly and efficient, always ready to assist. There are few if any wait times for equipment. This was my 1st visit at this location and I enjoyed my workout. The machine room was clean, and I didn't have to wait for a machine. I was there between 230 to 4 . My only complaint is how the hell do you turn on the HD TV'S on the treadmill. I found the locker room to be clean, but the trash cans could have been emptied. The showers were clean and didn't smell. Some of the shower Stahl's soap dispensers could have been fuller. The workout room is on the medium small side, but I recommend the gym. I have to point out that Im not a regular here. I travel alot so my review is based on my visit. I do recommend this location read more

STAY AWAY - BIOHAZARD! I saw a man using the seated leg curl who was bleeding on the machine. I told the man and the LA Fitness staff (the manager). The man continued to use the machine to finish his sets and the staff did nothing. I used another machine, finished 3 sets, went back and told the staff again exactly which machine it was and that the man was no longer on the machine. They still did nothing! I told 4 separate people not to use the machine while I was using other machines nearby. After 10 minutes, I went back to the staff (manager) and loudly raised my voice so that several people working out nearby could hear me. He told me that he was busy talking to the Vice President of LA Fitness. I asked if I could speak to the VP, he said no. He eventually told someone to clean the machine, but the person cleaning it was clearly not trained in cleaning up biological material - she (a teenage girl) did not wear gloves, she did not know if she was using bleach or not, and she only wiped down a small section of the machine. After writing this, I'm contacting corporate and the health department! read more
