We LOVE La Flauta! It's a top tier experience every single time! The restaurant is tucked in the corner of a plaza right off of HWY 10. They have plenty of seating for groups large and small. The service is spectacular. When we visited tonight, our server paid attention to every detail and he was great with our little ones. We love the food. I always get the tamales with rice and beans. Very flavorful with a little bit of spice. Some of my family decided to order the #16 which is seriously just one chicken wing. They think it's hilarious to order it but the wing is also very tasty. I really, really want this restaurant to make it but I have serious reservations. First of all, the food is average, not great but what you would expect from a 'run of the mill' Mexican restaurant. Certainly not exceptional. Unfortunately a friend of mine ordered the chicken nachos, when it came out, there was no chicken. When she told the waiter about it he took it back and a few minutes later returned with a little sprinkled, very thin chicken strips on the plate. I guess it didn't occur to them to give her some fresh nachos and cheese with the chicken this time instead of now serving her heated whimsy, soggy nachos. We love the tacos, tamales, and chicken quesadillas here. The portions are nice. The server has recently started bringing out a black bean dip along with the salsa, and it's excellent. It stinks that they did away with the free ice cream, and the soft drinks are the most expensive fountain drinks in Diamondhead (at over $3/cup, and they don't have kids sizes.). This location is very spacious and has a nice spot for events like birthdays. Every time I've come here, the food has been on point. The complimentary chips and salsa are super addicting! Went here for the first time last weekend. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's actually pretty cool inside. Our waitress wasn't the friendliest. In fact she was kinda rude. However, the food was worth it. There are so many options on the menu! I got the shredded chicken enchiladas with the queso sauce. They were very good. And I loved the refried beans! Only legit Mexican food place in Diamondhead. Stopped in for a weeknight dinner with my teen daughter and was pleasantly surprised by the choices & prompt service. Booth table was far from both sides of seats, so we had to push that together. Chips were good, but not served warm. Food was very good, though. Four stars because the soft taco shells fall apart as you eat. I used my fork and ate all the good stuff anyhow. They have a delicious sauce on the side of all tacos and actually had fresh jalapeños when I requested them (most places only offer pickled jalapeño slices, ugh). Biggest hit were the churros for dessert. They were so perfect - crunch outside, soft center, warm, served with caramel sauce and cool whip. One of us had the Puff Taco and the other had the Pork Carnitas. We both were full but didn't want to stop eating. This is not your plain everyday Mexican style food. We stumbled upon this restaurant during a recent day trip to Biloxi. The food was really good! Our waitress was very nice and funny too. The staff were all wearing masks and they seated the customers away from each other (basically, every other table). I love this place. The food is great the staff is nice and respectful. I came in with a party of 16 after we had just got done swimming in the ocean. They were polite with every single person. They even managed to get every single order right even with four different tickets. They cleaned up all the messes that were made on the spot even with 9 kids in the mix. One of them threw up because he drank some ocean water and they cleaned up and they wouldn't let us help... how amazing. They had live music and free ice cream for the customers.
