YUM! Just delicious. I'm kind of a snob when it comes to good boulangerie and this place really hit the spot for me. I got a few items, the tatin, caramel choux and a chocolate croissant. Of these items the only one I didn't really love love love was the tatin. The apples felt a little mushy to me and the base seemed less fresh. It was dry and hard to bite in to. However, the caramel choux (or chou caramel as they have it) was outstanding. I mean I am salivating thinking about that thing right now. I want it. The croissant was pretty good too. Great layers and rich full flavor. They seemed to have a little bit more chocolate on the inside than most places so that was great too. I will say that the place is small so don't expect to be able to sit without a bit of a wait. The service was ok but a bit rushed.

Excellent, best of the best. Probably it's my 9th visit in last 45 days and never disappointed. Great quality and good staff.

Cute bakery in the heart of Brussels. Everything is very affordable (1 or 2 euro). We had a bolus and it was awesome. All of the croissants and bread looked amazing. Cash only. Service was friendly. Grab a cheap and tasty breakfast to go here.

Items Selected: Almond Croissant Éclair Café Tart Tatin Cherry Clafoutis Bolus - Caramelized AOP Butter Pastry with Pastry Cream and Raisins Tortillons - Laminated AOP Butter Twist Located just steps from Mer du Nord and thus perfectly situated for dessert as the fish stand sells none, Boulangerie Charli falls somewhere in the upper-middle of Brussels enormous range of boulangerie and patisserie, the Belgian "Bolus" a specialty not seen anywhere else in the city while the seasonal Clafoutis is equally worth ordering. Originally opened in late 2009, owner Charles Reboulet taking a truly organic route from flour and free-range eggs to AOP Butter, Charli features treats ranging from breakfast Viennoiserie to several styles of pastry and although tightly packed the limited seating options offer a full view of the glass-enclosed kitchen, several young men and women still baking, folding or rolling even at 14h30. Abrupt in their interactions, likely a result of heavily toured location as other bakeries came across more friendly, bites of the almond croissant showed a twice-baked iteration slightly compromised by too-sweet a filling while the Éclair had undoubtedly suffered from shelf-time, the coffee filling nice and smooth but the choux a touch soggy. Intrigued by Totillon, it's flavor something like a Palmier with laminated layers well separated, this selection proved superfluous in the face of the Bolus which ate like a Kouign Amann spiraled around raisins and pastry cream, the tart tatin compromised by the choice to use a crust thicker than 5cm while the Clafoutis was nearly perfect for an individual portion with pudding-textured cake rife with butter cradling stewed cherries.

A cute bakery where you can buy freshly baked bread to go or just sit there and have a cup of coffee . Unfortunately for us we found this place towards the very end of our stay in Brussels, so we had a chance to eat there only once. Everything was excellent - bread was not only freshly made on-site, but it also tasted really good. We tried brioches, chocolate croissants, coffee, cappuccino and some sort sweet bread that looked like a cross. That "cross-shaped bread" was my favorite. I even bought a few of them to take with me to the hotel. The ladies who work there spoke English, and they were very friendly with us. If i am ever back in Brussels, i would definitely come back to Charli.

This was my fourth time here and a place I love to visit for a coffee and croissant before heading out to the shops.

Genuinely amazing pastry and coffee joint in Brussels. Love all of their servings, especially the croissants! Try their fresh baguettes and stuff it with your favorite cheese and jam, you will absolutely love it.

Humble paper bag. Amazing almond croissant.

The almond croissant is the platonic ideal of what an almond croissant should be. Crispy, but buttery. Sweet, but not overpowering. An excellent start to my one day here in Brussels.

Lovely pastries and decent coffee should be enough for an area where it's hard to find a place open before 9.

We tried a few different baked goods but our favorite was the chocolate croissant which was light, flaky and buttery with a great chocolate center.

This location is at the center of a lot of the major tourist attractions and is therefore great if you're looking for a quick, on-the-go breakfast or lunch without having to sit down (though that is still an option). Panos is a chain bakery/sandwich shop and was recommended by one of the aunties. Stuff you can find here includes sandwiches, wraps, soups, sweet and savory pastries, individual loaves and rolls, salads, coffee, and hot chocolate. Super basic, but high-quality stuff compared to a lot of other chain bakery places we saw as we traveled through Europe. Some of those sweet pastries were just really fancy looking for what's supposed to apparently be a very basic place, while even the basic stuff tasted really delicious. Their croissants were also super delicious, and I thought the raspberry croissant was particularly interesting. This particular location is on the street branching just off Grote Markt (Grand Place) and just across from the Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert's southern entrance. It was near where we were supposed to meet up with our tour group, so we dropped by very quickly to grab some breakfast. My chief memory of that morning was that their waffle honestly made me feel better about the first half of the day.
