My risotto tasted once again that it had been microwaved and the squid in the risotto definitely wasn't fresh. My boyfriends pasta looked as a consistency of old pasta from 3 days ago. Home cooked pasta by a person who clearly wasn't Italian. It gets worse. The French woman and her partner try to slap the dessert list to us twice. After polite declines and requesting the bill, her partner takes our money but doesn't bring the change. After finishing our bottle of wine we go up to them and ask them the change. Simply appalling service. The only nice thing about this place was the wine. Worst was the bad service, food and countless bathroom experiences after dining here. Avoid.

The hotel is outstanding. Wonderful. I highly recommend it. But the "new" restaurant is another story. BARF. I had possibly the worse meal of my life New Year's Eve at this restaurant. The food that they served was so bad it defies explanation; my companion and I left the dinner and returned to our room; it was that terrible. In my opinion, stay at the hotel. BUT eat anywhere else that is available. There are a lot of good restaurants on the island of Ortigia. I am sorry to say, in my experience and opinion, the Algilà Ortigia Charme Hotel restaurant is not one of them.
