LA GRANDE DAME has incredible food that is freshly made, the service is friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. This restaurant was highly recommended to us by our city guide, and I am so glad we took his advice.
When you walk up, they have lots of outdoor seating under umbrellas with a great view of Strasbourg Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg). They also have plenty of indoor seating upstairs and a neat set of angled stairs with a really cool curved handrail. You can grab any open seat and they come around to serve you. We sat outside because the weather was perfect.
The espresso and coffee were strong and really good. The food was amazing - all freshly made. Our group had four dishes - tarte flambée, heirloom tomato salad, gnocchi and a cheeseburger. All the dishes sound simple here, but they were complex, well put together, had great flavor and were not too filling - perfect portions. Explanations for each are below.
Overall, La Grande Dame is a 10/10 for me. Great food, friendly service and wonderful casual atmosphere.
