What happened here? This used to be THE place in NWA. I've been back twice since I moved and wow, talk about a nosedive across the board. We came here today with a party of 6 today. Arrived at 5pm and they wasn't busy at all. So we got a table for 6 and it wasn't long before we had fresh hot chips and great salsa. The waiter took our drink order and it didn't take him 5 mins to serve our drinks and Cheese dip. By now the restaurant is starting to fill up and our food was out in about 15 mins. The fajita jalasco is one of my favorite fajitas which has beef,chicken & shrimp. These came out sizzling and they were so good. Also ordered the bean Chulapa which was filled with beans. I ordered online and it was ready within a couple of minutes. The quesadilla was okay... not what I expected when it said chopped chicken or I wouldn't have ordered it. $12 for this was not worth it. I just finished the food and I am not satisfied. This should be a kids meal honestly. They did put chips and salsa in my online order so that's a big bonus. The salsa slaps! The fajitas looked like they came from a crock pot and definitely not sizzling. The taste was very bland for everything. Kids drinks were charged separately at $4 in addition to a $7 kids meal. Save yourself and just eat at McDonalds right in front of the restaurant. read more

La Huerta is a family chain of Mexican restaurants. They are always reliable with their flavors. The prices are affordable and a good place for just 1 person to groups. The service is fairly quick also. On my latest visit I enjoyed their taco salad which had lettuce, tomatoes, onions and shredded chicken. All served in a tortilla bowl. I topped it with some guacamole and their tomatillo salsa. Mmm Mmm good. My sister enjoyed the steak and shrimp consisting of a good size piece of carne asada and grilled shrimp, rice and beans. She said the steak was cooked to a respectable medium. I found the shrimp a little on the chewy side but still very tasty. We used to love coming here. The food, much like the employees just seem sad and like there's no soul to any of it now. Recently the prices were raised through the roof, not even in line with similar quality Mexican. Normally I love this place. Great service great food. But I got my fajita nachos as takeout, the cheese was only about 40% melted and it was cold. Chips were no longer crispy. I wasn't late picking it up, in fact I got there before they brought it out. Service was still good but for 14$ it needs to be better UPDATE: I couldn't eat it. It was tasteless rubber. The location on College Ave was the first location. About thirty years ago they were about the first Mexican restaurant in town. They have multiple locations here in Fayetteville and the area. My personal favorite is the Mission and Crossover location. My friend Tomas works Wednesday thru Sunday. I always ask for his section because I know I'll get great service. Food is great. read more

This is the neighborhood Mexican place. But recently, it's sort of hit or miss. The seasoning varies quite a bit from trip to trip and sometimes I'm not sure there's much "love" put into the plates. And prices have increased quite a bit recently...so I guess I'm expecting a bit more. My "crispy tacos" were soaked with grease...you could hardly call it crispy. I ordered the tamale lunch and it was edible. However, the steak tacos were not good at all. The quality of the meat was pretty bad and it had a hint of bloody taste to it. Had four for dinner last night. Everyone was pleased BUT this restaurant has consistently served up terrible chips with very good salsa. The chef who was my guest for dinner last night suggested that they probably cook up the chips in the morning and then keep them heated until served. As a result they are cold and hard. Me and the shredded legends went into this establishment expect to gorge on some chips and salsa, we sat down and ordered our waters, and waited 30 minutes and had to ask to get our chips and salsa. it may be 21st century problems, but all other tables had their chips when that were seated. we ordered our food, one of us got regular rice and beans, and the other got some nachos. when we got our food we waited about 10 minutes and had to ask for silverware. the rice was cold and hard, and the meat on the nachos was like they poured the grease and meat all into one. it made the chips soggy and undesirable. id also like to add that when we drank the salsa with a straw it tasted like dog poop. - Shredded Legends read more

The manager at this location tried to have me arrested for not purchasing the food that was pre-ordered. The La Huerta on, College Ave, has $1 Taco Tuesday, and in NO way have they ever mentioned it being specific to that location only. So my $20 order ended up being $50!!!!! I was very adamant about it not being okay to just put in the order without mentioning that they don't participate in $1 Taco Tuesday. She said, "that's not our problem". After speaking with the manager of the College Ave location, I was finally able to leave without having charges of theft filed on me. Very disappointing experience. My kids wanted to go here, I thought I'd give this location one more chance. Normally, our family has items we chose regularly..but even the Chorizo Cheese Dip (which I normally LOVE) wasn't warmed enough to consume!! The food was tepid and seasoned poorly. The Beef Flautas had been over cooked and the beef was hardened..it was sent back. The Spinach and Cheese Enchiladas were runny due to spinach not being properly drained. The tipping point for me, though was when the staff was preparing for closing duties they vacuumed right around our table?! I was completely off put by the dirt and smell being thrown into air around our table.. The only redeeming thing about this experience was the fact that I spoke to the Manager and he didn't charge for two of our meals..but overall disappointing because this is one of the only places my kids will both agree to. Please be aware of what you're eating.. I found a piece of raw chicken in my meal at La Huerta. For the record... I ordered a bean burrito and bean tostada and it was underneath the burrito. I posted a picture of it in the picture section. When I told the manager, he didn't seemed too concerned. He asked me what I wanted instead. My answer was, " um nothing. Just a refund." Worst customer service I've experienced in years! Sat for 45 minutes eating chips and salsa with one drink, no refills or water. Meanwhile, our order was chilling (literally) . Finally asked the girl who seated us to check on our order. They brought it right away... Cold. They charged us for drinks we ordered but never received. When I asked to talk to management ... They spoke in Spanish to each other and then said they would take my comments into consideration. Seriously, the manager never made eye contact with me. The food has always been great- no issues there. However, I called in an order this week for a basically a Steven special with vegetables but no chicken. I asked for just rice with cheese and veggies. As well as a regular sized cheese dip. When I got there to pick it up she gave me the total. I was extremely confused and asked why so much when I had the chicken removed. She proceeded to open the menu and show me exactly what I ordered (as if I didn't know) and said how much it was with veggies. I repeated again how I asked for no chicken and expected the price to be cheaper as I excluded it. She basically just argued back and fourth with me and never offered to get her manger and fix the issue. Very upsetting from a customer perspective. $11.50 for rice, veggies and cheese is way too expensive. I ended up getting home and it had chicken on it. Pretty disappointing. read more

Probably only bested or (worsed) by it's sister store on College Ave. Nearly inedible. Decent service, drinks, chips/salsa, decor. The Chili Relleno was, all joking aside, the worst I've ever eaten. We tried a couple of combo's so to get a taste of a large portion of the menu and can tell you that nothing other than the chips/salsa was even okay. The tamale, with out any doubt in my mind, was from a can.. If the flavor didn't prove it, the shape of a tamale shoved in a can did. When I got home not only was there no queso on my Steven Special but I also found a piece of plastic in it. I called La Huerta to tell them of this issue and they said there is nothing they could do about it. I even spoke to the manager who was no additional help. They just lost a once loyal customer.
