In the heart of the west side and the spirit of the west side lies a Botanica of the sort with probably the widest array of candles and incense I've seen here in SA or anywhere else. Thankfully they are back and running after a set back with the place looking nice. The exterior offers some beautiful art work both on the front and the west side of the building. Parking available in the front or on the side of the building. You can even park on the street. They take cash or credit/debit cards. Besides candles and incense, they have a great variety of dried herbs that can help for candle preparation or other stuff. They have a few statues, some really large and cool ones of Santa Muerte. They have bottles of baños In the liquid form you can get. They have spiritual gifts including rosaries. They have spiritual oils. Really, you almost just have to come here and check out all the goodies here. The people are kind and can help you if you have questions about any of the items here. I even think at times they do have a reader there too as I see a line up of waiting sometimes but that you can ask and if not they can point you in a good direction. Hope you enjoy this place as much as I do.

Best array of candles and incense. Stock up to ward off evil spirits and bad juju. Readings available on Thursdays.

Lotions, savory salts, hand sanitizer, cologne, vinegar, room freshener, you name it! Everything is made by the owner himself (who is very well known in the herb community) using produce and herbs he grows onsite!!! 10/10 a must visit when in Fredericksburg.

My annual Girl's Weekend was spent in Fredericksburg this year. I was very excited about finally…read moregetting the chance to visit the famous herb farm that I had seen in numerous publications. So on Sunday we headed out and found that the place was turned into a bed & breakfast. We drove by and noticed Urban Herbal. What we didn't know was that the owner (William Varney) sold the herb farm back in 2007 but had some land adjacent to it and opened up Urban Herbal in 2010. I know that mid-February is not the time to visit if you want to see the garden in it's full glory, however the gift shop & labyrinth makes it worth the trip. We parked in the private lot and headed towards the garden where we were warmly greeted by William. He escorted us to his gift shop and I was so amazed at the variety of products he created to stock the shelves in this little store. From infused oils, herbal soaps, bath vinegars, bath salts/scrubs & lotions for the body, pet care to herbs for the grill, vinegars & seasonings for the palate, the offerings were mind boggling. William's knowledge was impressive to say the least and we were very happy that we got to spend some time talking with him personally, picking his brain. I ended up purchasing some incense, detoxifying body oil (juniper, geranium & grapefruit), lavendar/mint home fragrance, eucalyptus home fragrance, Herbs de Povence, lavendar/champagne vinegar & balsamic coffee/fig vinegar. After our purchases, William escorted us to the back garden. It was really wonderful to let my mind wander & meditate while I walked the labyrinth. William mentioned that he will begin workshops this spring. I am fuzzy on the details but he did mention that they will be posted on his website soon. I am truly happy that I was able to meet William. He is such a delight and has a wonderful, positive energy. I left Urban Herbal feeling refreshed & content. Definitely worth a return trip!

Half of the market was closed off, but something new that popped up near the front of the store was a coffee/smoothie bar. We stopped in for a quick to go order of a coffee, pastry, and smoothie. I loved the fact that there is an option to make your own. I was able to choose my base, 2 fruit options, and a veggie. I chose - blueberry, strawberry, (comes with a banana), spinach, and almond milk. Perfect! Healthy and fresh. The girl behind the counter was friendly and accommodating. There's also a gelato bar. Curious to see what's new when renovations are done!

So they just re did a portion of the store to expand their ready made foods. My husband and I go in to get a couple of sandwiches. We've done it before for little weekend picnics, but my bread was so tough today it wasn't really pleasant. It felt like it had been left in the fridge section for too long. Then we knew the brisket and prepared meats weren't going to be ready until 4, we had asked one of the employees there and they told us it'd be ready at 4. We ordered a couple of sides for dinner and both of the sides were labeled incorrectly. One of them triple the price of what the item should have costed. We came back at 4 and then were informed the brisket might be out actually closer to 5. What? Why tell us 4 and then push it to another hour? We decided to leave and check out and at the checkout lane I noticed they started putting the meat out?? Did they just not want to serve us?? Their customer service specifically was rude but our cashier who helped us with the overpriced ticketed items was nice and helpful. It just doesn't feel good to be treated with disrespect and to basically be lied to because the same guy who said it wouldn't be out until 5 literally started to put out the meat as soon as we walked away. Weird, random, and I hated it.

Many of the blends that they have are rather unique and I haven't been able to find a comparable product. I cook A LOT and go through a lot of seasonings on a regular basis. Prior to realizing that they had an online store, I was relegated to buying only what I coulld find of theirs on the local store shelf, the online buying has really opened things up for me. Speaking of the online store. The layout of the website makes it simple to navigate and purchase items, the shipping is fast, and out of my MANY orders, there hasn't been a mistake made. On the off chance that something is on backorder, they will let you know and it generally gets to you within the next few days. Finally, lets discuss what makes or breaks a company; customer service. As stated above, they really do a great job, but I made a mistake a few orders ago and needed to add something to my existing order, so I sent an email to them and asked if it was too late to add the extra 2 items. I had a reply within minutes and they were able to add them. So, if you haven't tried their stuff, I highly recommend that you do so, this Texas guy loves what they have!
