So I was told that this place was good Puerto Rican food ran by a Puerto Rican family. SO NOT TRUE. I walked in and yea they had the basic cafeteria style buffet but very limited choices. Then there is a guy speaking Arabic to a kid behind the counter. I order some White rice,red beans, and fried pork chunks (super dry). Food was not that good at all. Rice was not good. Good cafeteria style Caribbean food on the cheap. The kind my old lady used to make for me back when i was a young lad. Probably the reason why i was a fat young lad. When i walked in the owner was very accommodating going over all the options and the price points. I wanted a couple things and he hooked it up by giving me a half portion of each without charging me extra. Good selection of Hispanic soda's here as well, which is something I haven't seen in too many places since I left Miami. If you work nearby or happen to be in the area for lunch I definitely recommend you check it out. Make sure you get a Materva, or Iron Beer soda with your meal. Not an actual Puerto Rican restaurant. Beans never have flavor. Literally no flavor. Gave the spot a second chance but this time it was worse. I walked up to the counter with the red beans in my hand to exchange them because they were unbearable to eat. I tell the staff the beans have no taste and their reply was "it tastes like water". Stumbled upon this establishment while looking for a Cuban sandwich. I did not get the sandwich because once I saw their menu I ended up having a full meal. Everything was delicious, the food is on point, the staff was super friendly and very attentive. I strongly recommend their mofongo as well as their alcapurrias. Best PUERTO RICAN food in the area. The pork shoulder, rotisserie chicken, Ropa Vieja, Arroz con Gandules, pasteles (during the holidays), baccalao on Fridays, etc. etc. It is family run and they are simply good people, hard working and true to the food from my childhood. All this delicious food and so inexpensive!! They even make coquito during the holidays. It's buffet style for the lunch specials but you can order off the menu as well. I would suggest phoning in your order ahead of time. I've been going to this gem of a place for years. Nothing fancy but definitely comfort food at its finest.
