Celebrating 30yrs! The food is consistent good. I am on an all gluten-free diet and they were happily able to accommodate - I had the salmon on the cedar plank with medley of steamed vegetables. My honey had Puntas De Filet, an oldie that is no longer on the menu yet they will make upon request. Service was great, friendly, fun and helpful with my GF requests & quick to accommodate. Quick to refill our water & very personable. The decor is a bit dated, old Mexican meets Denny's. Had a solid meal here. The food was flavorful and the portions were good--my enchiladas came out nicely and had plenty of taste. Service was friendly and attentive without being rushed. The place has a casual, comfortable feel.Only reason it's not a full 5 is that it got a bit noisy as it filled up, and the wait for a table was longer than expected on a weeknight. Came for lunch meeting but really miss their lunch special menu. Instead now things are smaller portions and much higher prices. Also soda was flat which they did let me replace with tea but that seems like an issue that they should fix! Service was okay nothing inherently wrong just not as good as normal. Came here for lunch with some friends who go to this restaurant regularly. I'm not sure of the relationship if any, but I prefer the Red Mesa Cantina in downtown St. Pete. The decor here is simple, and the table a bit wobbly. The waitress was great and got us some drinks and chips and dip to snack on right away while we were waiting for the rest of the group. The food is good, and I cleaned my plate combination plate of a beef taco and chicken enchilada with Spanish rice and black beans. Every Thing was Perfect! Even though they said it was understaffed, I noticed no difference. I think the service was absolutely fantastic. Justin was our weight person charming personality very helpful. Service was wonderful. And then the food oh my gosh, I haven't had good food like this since I lived out in Tempe Arizona. The chile Riano's we got the cheese ones were the absolute best I've had and I want to say 30 years. The guacamole was perfect. the sauces were wonderful. The chips were hot and thick just like they should be there was nothing wrong with anything. The actual audience was very conducive for the type of restaurant. I have been to the other Red Mesa restaurants and enjoyed them all, so I thought I'd give this one a try. My family and my little doggie had a great time at Red Mesa. Our server was very helpful with helping us decide which cocktails to order. We sat in the nice pet friendly area outside by the fountain, and ordered some yummy drinks, chips and queso and salsa for starters. The red sangria, Hot Carlos margarita and the unique and refreshing Strawberry Rosemary sangria were all wonderful. The chips, queso and salsa were perfect! There were so just many yummy sounding drinks on the menu that I need to come back again to try something new next time. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The tortilla soup, taquitos ( I love how light and crispy they are) , and the Favorito combination platter were all delicious! I really loved that Red Mesa is pet friendly. All of that for $18 sounded like a fantastic deal. I opted for something else that wasn't available on the prix fix menu. Several orders of the Traditional Guacamole ($13) were ordered to share and these were great. Can't go wrong with guacamole and chips! I personally ordered the Chipotle Shrimp Burrito ($21) for my meal, which consisted of congri, jack cheese, guacamole, chipotle cream, cilantro, and queso fresco. Having a chipotle shrimp as a burrito topping sounded unique and tasty, so I had to try it, which did not disappoint. My girlfriend & I came here for lunch, Initially we were excited because the place looked really nice & the staff was very friendly, but the food changed our minds real quick. We started off with the chips & salsa, & my girlfriend got a cup of the tortilla soup. The chips & salsa were alright, barely any flavor or salt on the chips & the salsa was really runny, like it was out of a jar. My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the soup either. It wasn't really hot & and again, no flavor (this was the theme for everything). My girlfriend ordered a taco salad with ground beef, something she gets at most Mexican restaurants due to her dairy allergy. She said the ground beef had next to no flavor at all & the taco shell for the bowl became really soggy really quickly. The fact that they charge $13 for the salad bowl & upcharge you another $7 just for flavorless ground beef makes it absolutely not worth it! We understand upcharging for certain proteins, but every other restaurant we've gone to that has this on the menu gives you the choice of at least either chicken or ground beef for no extra cost. I ordered the chicken enchilada, & when I say the portion size was small, I mean I was done with my meal before my girlfriend even started hers. The serving size was 1 small enchilada, maybe 4 or 5 inches long. The chicken was cooked all the way, but yet again, it had barely any flavor, and the tortilla they used for the enchilada was a bit overcooked. I had ordered the cilantro lime rice with it, but it tasted like plain jasmine rice, which was really disappointing because I love cilantro lime rice. We did order a couple of drinks, which were good but a bit pricy comparatively. They were $12 each which isn't terrible, but considering I could potentially get one of the fish bowl drinks for about the same price somewhere else. Overall, we ended up spending around $85 before tip on lunch for the 2 of us, & it absolutely was NOT worth it. If they did a happy hour or something & I was in the area, I may be inclined to stop in for a couple of drinks, but I would definitely be eating either before or after I came here. read more

My texmex burrito was okay at best and the steak was pretty chewy/dry. There wasn't enough seasoning on as well. Chile rellenos- better than my burrito but nothing special Enchiladas trio - the best dish of the bunch , it's good but not great.
