We hosted our youngest's wedding at this beautiful place last week. It was perfection. The ceremony was set up with care and every detail was outstanding. The reception with open bar and a great DJ made us proud and happy. Every detail was perfect and the food was good. The canapés served during the cocktail hour were delicious. Went there for a wedding reception. The service was very casual. Will not bring appetizers to all guests there. Will not even distribute the wedding cake to everyone. Also kept us outside because they were not ready. The food was bland / tasteless. Worst was the quality of their drinks. Except a premixed Mojito that was quite good, all other liquors tasted strange.... Moreover, they will rush you to eat and actually take away your plates. We felt uncomfortable in this venue. Unfortunately, I have to post this negative review about La Jolla. Today, nearly two months after my wedding, I received confirmation from La Jolla that a valued ceremony item went missing due to their negligence/mishandling. Instead of acknowledging any fault or even a straightforward apology, they started passing the blame - even on their own florist. This finger-pointing came even after I provided them with a photo I received of the missing item laying on top of the rest of the belongings they returned to me (meaning they had to physically remove the missing item from the rest of my belongings before giving them to me). To add to the insult of the finger-pointing and the lost memento, they refused to offer any kind of reimbursement or compensation. Additionally, I have also been advised by many guests, subsequent to the wedding, that they never received cake. I recall having to ask the coordinator 3-4 times during the wedding to serve the cake (long after dinner had ended and we had the cake cutting ceremony), but it appears that my requests were ignored until it was too late for most guests. I would like to note that we paid hundreds of dollars in upgrades to the cake. Knowing the money went to waste is beyond upsetting. God knows where the rest of the cake went, since about half of the 100+ guests missed out on it. On a final note, about 2 weeks ago La Jolla ran a $90 charge for vendor meals they said they did not previously charge - even though I provided them with the credit card authorization to pay for these meals a month BEFORE the wedding. I didn't bother to start pulling transactions to see if it was a duplicate charge, but based on what I know now, I should have. I should have also relied on other reviews on various sites about surprise charges and other issues I also experienced with La Jolla which I spared you of out of respect for the vendors that did a great job in the end. read more

Came here for a tour and meeting as this was a top wedding venue choice for us. That quickly changed when we met the lady who gave us a tour and explained the packages. From the beginning they were not very responsive when I called and emailed but hoped that would change once I went. I do not remember the name of the lady we met but she was pregnant at the time of our tour. She was by far the rudest person I encountered while choosing a venue and picking a venue. My fiance gets along with everyone and never has anything bad to say and within 5 minutes of our meeting he told me he wanted to leave b/c he did not want to deal with this lady. When she first saw us she did not even say hello and throughout the meeting she could not be less interested if she tried. Every question asked got a 1 word answer. She just wanted to get the meeting over with and it was very obvious. I do not understand how a venue could have someone with zero customer service skills be the one to represent the place and deal with potential clients. I cannot imagine planning a wedding and having to deal with her. All packages and decor offered were extremely cookie cutter and there is no real area for cocktail other than a tiny entrance room off the ballroom. They do not want you changing their cookie cutter packages in any way and if you do all changes or substitutions come at an added cost. Parking is also not included and an additional cost. I think this space is more suitable for a quince than a wedding. This place is a wedding factory so if you are looking for somewhere special to have your wedding, keep looking! read more

This should actually be ZERO STARS!~!~!~!~!~! This place isn't somewhere to have any sort of event. They are unprofessional, rude and condescending. They take ZERO responsibility for errors or issues and do nothing to resolve the issues but come up with justifications. We poured tons of money into a 6pm corporate event. They weren't prepared or ready when we arrived at 5:30 and were still mopping the floors. We were promised the following: Guests greeted with champagne. - actually refused to serve anything until after 6 and then wouldn't serve beer/wine because they said they were only serving champagne at the moment. WE PAID FOR ALCOHOL!!! We purchased a sushi station for 80 people. They had takeout sushi delivered (I was there when the delivery occurred) and then only ordered enough for maybe 20 people. We purchased a slider station. NOT AT ALL WHAT APPEARS in PHOTOS of their marketing materials. Expect White Castle frozen burgers on cheap bread. Not the Pretzel Rolls they show in their catering menu. Fresh Kabob appetizer was a stale piece of crostini with no condiments or flavor. We had one attendee break a tooth on it. They put signs up for the dessert bar stating that nobody could touch it until a certain time. WHAT??? What type of establishment puts time restrictions on stations? We paid for the location for 4 hours but they ran out of beer and wine 1/2 way through and we aren't big drinkers. They ordered 2 cases of beer for a group of 80 people. That's crazy! When the bar dried up, so did our event. People wanted to leave and it was a corporate function. We are professionals and do not appreciate the lack of respect we were given. Three hours in, staff was practically pushing us out the door, cleaning tables, sweeping, etc. When I called and emailed after our event, it was a huge set of excuses, refusal to give me the name and phone number of the owner, and downright rude behavior. BEWARE!!! Once they have your money - you are no longer a priority and they WILL TAKE CHEAPEST AVENUES TO MILK YOU DRY! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT RELY ON LA JOLLA FOR A VERY IMPORTANT EVENT. DO NOT book your wedding reception here. it'll be a mistake. it was such a disappointment. people were unprofessional, untrained, and are thieves. i asked for some of my memorabilias after the wedding and i was very upset to find out that they were gone. i asked belen but she could not give me an explanation as to what happened to it. people steal stuff in la jolla. future customers better watch out! the staff are not properly trained when it comes to table dinner etiquette. i have some people complained to me about the staff taking the plate so quickly when it was clearly obvious that the utensils were not placed together to indicate that they were done with their food. all the staff cared about is time , fast time to clear the tables. bullshit! we paid for 8 hours , you better know your place. if not for customers like us , you wouldn't have jobs! cakes were wasted. a few people weren't able to eat our cake. they placed a plate with a small slice of my wedding cake and i got distracted and when i returned to my table, it was gone. they do not care at all. they kept shouting at each other while getting rid of the decors. when we got there before the cocktail hour, people were still mopping the floor. they were not 100% ready. what an eye sore! we wanted to eat more finger foods during our cocktail hour but the waiter was so cheap with the plate. did he pay for our food? the dessert table wasn't ready either. the transition from one coordinator to another wasn't clear. no proper communication at all. daniela should have never taken our account if she wasn't ready. the staff was not always on the same page when it came to rules and guidelines. it was very confusing. better get trained again. belen kept saying ," trust me , trust me, i have done this done many times ". well, guess what? it was a mistake trusting her or the people at la jolla. do not assume. future customers, do not be complacent or else your entire wedding memorabilias will be stolen and the whole party will be in chaos. if you promote yourself as the experienced coordinator, you should know every little detail about the couple's wedding reception. if you mention anything about an outside vendor, you, the coordinator better know everything about it regardless if it was a saxophonist or a cello player. do not say that there was a misunderstanding. there shouldn't be any misunderstanding or whatsoever. you are paid to know everything about a wedding reception. at the beginning of your initial payment , they don't tell you right away but ask about their la jolla vendors. you think they're going to call and coordinate those people for you? you are very wrong future customers. u have to coordinate every freaking vendors with la jolla. it's very deceiving. you think they'll do everything for you? not a chance, you get a lot of headaches and stress. la jolla charges an automatic 18- 20% gratuities. guess what? they don't deserve that money. tips should be given after the services were rendered according to satisfactory level. the power should be on the couple and not on the company. I had to leave a star because otherwise I would not be allowed to leave a review. But truth be told, this vendor deserves zero stars, in my opinion. I went to see this venue early on in my search for a wedding reception venue. When I visited, I was shown around the place and provided a packet with the wedding packages available. The packages were very vague. For example, 5 hour open "premium" bar did not specify WHICH liquors that included. Also, the food choices were not clear, or cake availabilities. As such, I requested the information from the girl helping, but she told me she would not be able to give me specifics until Monday when the manager would return. She told me I could sign the contract, leave a deposit of $500, and the contract could be cancelled within a week if when we received the information it was not what we wanted. I did just that. When Monday rolled around I received the "premium" bar list and it was the WORST liquors i had ever seen. I googled the vodka and it was vodka that only sold in PLASTIC jugs. Pursuant to the contract I advised that I wished to cancel my contract and demanded my money back. However, surprise, surprise, they refused to give me back my money. To me, if you are a genuine, good business you would honor the terms of your own contract. Instead, they stole my money, and made it a horrible experience for me. Beware with vendors like these whose real only concern is stifling people out of their hard earned money. This is a place you don't want to do business with! read more

La Jolla was an amazing venue, I am so happy to have had my reception here. Since the wedding I have received countless compliments on how beautiful the reception was. The décor, the food, the music and the ambiance was absolutely perfect. Yanel did a wonderful job in accommodating us, we planned this wedding from the other side of the country and had not seen the venue until the week of the wedding, Yanel and all the vendors met with our parents to plan things out, communicated with myself and my husband to make sure we were in the loop and answered all questions we had promptly. The day of the wedding, Yanel and the La Jolla team really stepped up and made sure everything ran smoothly and took care of everything so that we could have a wonderful time. I haven't received nothing but positive feedback from my wedding guests about this venue on my big day, the place looked truly gorgeous, extremely elegant, one of my co-workers told me they felt like they were in a fancy restaurant and not in a reception hall which was something that was very important to me I didn't want my wedding to have the usual banquet hall cheap look & I wanted something that looked simple yet elegant but that didn't break the bank at the same time and La Jolla did just that. They were super attentive to all of my needs the day of the wedding and to my guests as well the only complaint I have is that nobody really called me to provide me with the vendors information I actually had to call and request it, I don't know if I was under the wrong impression or not but when you pay 15K you expect a certain type of treatment, also I was under the impression that my balance was paid in full since I had a zero balance invoice however when I showed up to turn in my seating chart a week before the wedding I was advised I had a balance due because my plate and the groom's plate was not included in the 15k they had quoted me for my guests and also I HAD to pay for all the vendors meals which turned out to be 5 for me this upset me a bit because this was not said to me upfront and I ended up going over the budget. We just had our daughter's medical school graduation party and it was the best. The staff was extremely helpful including ARMANDO and showed amazing attention to detail. DJ Duni and Leo rocked the house. Cake Lounge delivered a scrumptious cake and the sweet table deserts were delectable. Rick Morales flowers made the most beautiful arrangements despite the fact that our flowers went to California. A Touch of Class Linens made everything complete.
