The most beautiful restored garden cottage-on the outskirts of Old Town, and with the most divine musical equipment this side of the Pearly Gates! Let's not forget a sparkling Swarovski Crytstal Chandelier that bathes every thing in a celestially-inspired ray of light! And I was just walking by after parking my car to go visit my lawyer's office. At first I was admiring the cute property and pretty flowers out front of Harp Haven. Then I kind of discreetly walked up and looked inside and I could see just how lovely it is in there! Harp Haven Music Studio is "a distributor for six major harp companies including Lyon & Healy Harps, Salvi Harps, Dusty Strings Harps, Triplett Harps, Blevins Harps and Noteworthy Harps, according to their website. "Harps range from lever harps to pedal harps to small lap harps to folk harps to the Concert Grand." Harp Haven is the place for novices to learn how to play the harp and for advanced harpists to practice and excel. Famous harpists including Greg Buchanan and Carol McLaughlin have studied and performed in concert at Harp Haven. Initially located in a farmhouse in the Mission Valley area of San Diego on Hotel Circle, the owners decided upon the Old Town area as a place to relocate Harp Haven to. They ended up purchasing a small 1920s craftsman cottage that was run down and needed a lot of work near San Diego Avenue. Randal and Ramona decided on a very intricate and delicate renovation and remodeling. The job was considerably complex, which included six months of design and permits working closely with the Old Town Historical Society. According to the Marrokal Design website, the "old house was lifted in order to replace a very poor foundation. The walls were all reframed. A roof system was reconstructed." Sounds like quite a job! More Marrokal: "The significant addition was adding a Victorian era turret adorned by a SWAROVSKI crystal chandelier. This magnificent chandelier is characteristic of the grand chandeliers, which decorated the finest Chateaux and Palaces across Europe. How incredibly awesome is this! All I was able to see when I poked around in the front was just a vibrant, lit-up interior and I can only imagine how lovely looking (and sounding) it must inside Harp Haven! Having tried playing flute in 6th grade and failing miserably at it, I am self-aware enough to know that playing music is not my forte, but walking along a city street and peeping at a pretty house is just my cup of tea!
