La Ligne Rouge is a cafeteria style place for Greek Food. Located just outside of Jean Talon Metro station. There is ample street parking, I was passing by and it was dinner time, so decided to stop in for a quick bite. The place is a mom n pop shop, I wasn't really in the mood for Greek, but they served donnair, so I decided to give that a try. Of course, I also had to get a side of pouting, I was in Montreal after all. I ended up ordering a #7 & #12. Two donnair and a poutine combo. The donnair was disappointing. It lacked flavour and sauce was sub par. It was greasy, but not in the way that would merit the title of a greasy spoon joint. The meat was lacking and the proportion of meat to vegetable was Way off. The vegetables were decent though, the tomatoes not too ripe, the onions were raw and spicy and way too many. And this is coming from a guy that loves onions! 2 stars. The poutine fared no better. The combo came with a Tony drink, maybe 240ml (8oz) which was already a stingy sign. But the worse of it was probably the poutine. It did keep the theme of lacking flavour, I was able to taste the starch in their Brown sauce. The fries were old style chips, cooked in lard at a temperature too low so that they would absorb the grease. 1 star. There are plenty of other places in Montreal to get some late night good eats. The place gets 1,5 stars but since there are no halves, I'd have to round down and not up. In my opinion, La Ligne Rouge is exactly that, A Red Line, right through its name in my books... Yet another review where my opinion is not align with the masses. I've tried to describe the food as best I can so that you can decide for yourself whether or not this place is worthy of a visit.

The Montréal restaurant was near the jean-talon market. Very big portion! Taste good and well flavored. Many kinds of roasted meats. I was quite full and satisfied after lunch.

If what you need is a late night poutine with meat from a spit shaved on to it, just to put poutine over the edge and beyond, than this is the place. Don't look too closely at anything inside except the hand-painted portrait of the owner with his manly mullet on the window. Don't question your life choices too much as the midnight gravy hits your gut (and thighs.) Just enjoy the Double Red Line ride.

Returning for more. Can't get enough of their delightful domors, secret has to be the grease, only con about this place the drinks with their combos dhould be a medium drink instead a tiny drink.

The Mullets!!! The old decor, threw me off the 1st time i stepped into the place. But the food was good enough for me to loose focus of my surroundings. They close late which is a bonus! Staff was very friendly! The poutine was amazing, it was so much food and it hit the spot instantly! As for the chicken souvlaki humm, a bit soggy and bland. Ill try a doner next time. This place is convenient if you live in the villeray/ jean talon area and its affordable! I wouldn't sit down and eat there but that the clean freak in me , but I suggest you take it to go! The poutines are definitely worth going for!

Quite tasty. I had an all dressed slouvaky. The white sauce was delicious. It is a bit busy but worth the wait.

The pita authetique is my go-to -- has the best most delicious, light, and creamy tzatziki sauce and delicious meat. The Pitarifque poutine is very yummy as well. A large is definitely LARGE and worth it especially if you're hungry. The gravy and fries are top notch. The deluxe burger all dressed is a Montreal staple! Comes with bacon, cheese, lettuce tomatoes, mayo, mustard, onion, insanely yummy spicy peppers, and 1/2 pound or so of fresh ground beef patties. They also have beer on tap -- IPA or lager -- small one is only $3.50! I pretty much eat here every week after or before the gym -- way better food and prices than patiti patata across the street IMO, although don't get me wrong, that place is also very good too.

Good old hand cut fresh potatoes. The pitas were very tasty. Soft fresh bread with crispy lettuce and savoury chicken. Not too much garlic sauce. Excellent food. My buddy had a burger. He was pleased with the size and quality. Counter service but speedy prep. Enjoy

This place was the most amazing place in Montreal because we had originally booked a reservation…read morefor another place, but that got messed up some how And on a Saturday night it's really hard to get a table for nine people, and this was for a bachelorette party But this restaurant took us in and took complete care of us and we're so amazing The food was out of the world we had family dishes, coming out left and right the wine was so tasty and it was like being in your family's home, eating a family meal he felt so welcomed The place was just so cute and beautiful, and the ambience was like family Thank you so much for accommodating our huge group. We had the best time and that was the best dinner we have ever had the whole time we were in Montreal and if we ever come back in town, we will definitely stop by to eat some of that yummy food.

Spacious dining area with a section that shows off the fresh fish of the day-a smaller outdoor seating area.-only one table occupied given almost closing time. First, we quickly realized, for 3 of us, we ordered too much food. Started with the Fried Eggplant (Aubergine) and Tarama Salata. Both were tasty. The Tarama was milder and not as salty-every restaurant/city has their own version of my favorite dip. Greek Salad was just like in Athens-so much Feta, Olives and no lettuce -delicious. Grilled Squid was sliced thinly and perfectly seasoned! Oh we also had to try the Mexican Jumbo Shrimp-jumbo they were and tasty. At this point, we should've stopped but we had to try an entree. We ordered the Mediterranean Sea Bream (for 2) which was just right for 3 of us given our endless appetizers. The table side carving and plating of the fish was a nice touch. Fresh Bream was delicious. Of course we had leftovers. Service was very attentive and engaged matching the level of this spot. Extra thanks to the team for accommodating us at the late hour. Members of the staff thanked us as we were leaving-how often does that happen?! Don't miss this neighborhood Gem that will transport you to Athens.

This establishment is a gem!! Labeled a Greek restaurant but put away all of your most common…read moreconceptions of Greek food. This is Greek elegance and sophisticated magnificence in the food preparation. First, the think that makes any establishment is service. Here, the service is impeccable but subtle. With just a glance the server , Juliano attended every need. So personable, so available, but never over-bearing. The Greek salad is the essence of pure, fresh tomato, cucumber, peppers, not too much olive, two chunks of feta, in a deliciously fresh olive oil and vinegar with subtle but effective seasoning. Most importantly, and this epitomizes the restaurant, all presented at the perfect room temperature and as if the vegetables and marinated perfectly. The Linguine aux fruits de mer is not too overbearing on a bed of fine pasta with a delicious, sauce that lingers on the pasta and is so flavorful. The seafood is ringed calamari, head calamari, sautéed, scallop, and huge shrimp. In New Orleans would be called prawns. My only complaint was a little light on shrimp and one more would be amazing. The cappuccino was so thick with milk froth it far outlasted the coffee. House made pistachio ice cream is perfectly not too sweet and rich and creamy perfection. This restaurant knows EXACTLY what they are doing! Somewhat limited in selection but everything done to the finest detail. You must ask for Juliano, he will take good care of you. You will leave feeling like a friend.

The service that night was super slow. It's place where you can eat but you will not miss it. Comparing the food to the prices, I would say it's expensive and less of a value. Otherwise, the place itself is nice and cozy.

No shade to older people, but we were with our 18 and 20 year old kids and the vibe was kinda vanilla. We were pretty hungry so decided to give it a go. Firstly, we are from Ontario and are not fluent in French. We will make the effort to do our best but usually the servers will just speak English, which we appreciate! Our server this day was just not the friendliest. She seemed annoyed with us from the get go. Whether it was our subpar attempt at speaking French or not, who knows. Definitely couldn't have been a reflection of our attitudes as we always go out of our way to be super respectful of people in the service industry as we have all worked in it in some capacity. The place was not very busy so it's not like she was slammed with orders. She took our order and then disappeared for 45 minutes lol. People were being served all around us but it seemed as though we had been forgotten. Our order was not complicated (2 Greek salads, and two chicken skewer plates). When our meal finally arrived, I was honestly shocked. The "village Greek salad" or however they called it was just tasteless. Huge pieces of pepper, huge pieces of tomato, some cucumber, minuscule feta and a few olives tossed in for good measure and the most pathetic gathering of lettuce underneath it all. Barely any oil, zero vinegar. It was just laughable. Server was nowhere to be seen so I couldn't ask for some extra oil and vinegar. Not once did she come by to see how we were doing or ask if we needed anything. Just couldn't be bothered, I guess. The chicken skewer platters were tasty enough but definitely nothing to write home about. We won't be returning on future visits to Montreal. The outside patio is cute but that was the only positive about our experience. Even trying to pay was a huge hassle as the server had seemingly disappeared and we waited for almost ten minutes until she showed her face. When she printed the bill, made an "are you stupid?" face as she was standing a bit further away from me and basically called me over like I was a dog. We still tipped her (15% instead of our usual of 22%) (my kids are extremely unhappy that I tipped at all) but we will never recommend this place to friends or family coming in from out of town. We visit Montreal quite a lot and frequent a lot of places but this is one that you can absolutely skip.
